  5. Lucy Lawless (born Lucille Frances Ryan on March 29, 1968 in Mount Albert, New Zealand) is a New Zealand actress and singer best known for her role as Xena on the television series Xena: Warrior Princess from 1995 to 2001. The fifth of seven children (5 brothers, 1 sister) to Frank and Julie Ryan, Lawless found the joy of acting in secondary school. At Auckland University, she studied foreign languages for a year. She dropped out and left for Europe with her boyfriend, Garth Lawless, to travel around Germany and Switzerland. For money they did odd jobs, including working for a mining company in Australia. While in Australia, 19-year-old Lucy found out she was pregnant. In 1988, Lucy and Garth were married in Kalgoorlie, Australia. They returned to New Zealand and had a daughter, Daisy Lawless (born July 15, 1988). They divorced in 1995. Lawless married Xena executive producer, Robert G. Tapert, on March 28, 1998. The couple have two sons: Julius Robert Bay Tapert (born October 16, 1999) and Judah Miro Tapert (born May 7, 2002), both born in Auckland, New Zealand. Lawless had a guest role in 1990 on New Zealand TV series Shark in the Park, around the same time compatriot Karl Urban appeared. In March 1995, Vanessa Angel was supposed to play a new character, the villainess Xena, in an episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, but became sick and was unable to travel to New Zealand. Lawless had previously played two different characters in Hercules, so the directors chose her as a replacement (though her hair had to be dyed to distinguish her from the previous, unrelated characters). Played by the 1.79 m (5'10 1/2") Lawless, Xena's character became popular and got her own series, Xena: Warrior Princess which debuted on 4 September 1995. The show was a hit, lasting six seasons. Lucy Lawless as Xena on Xena: Warrior Princess, holding her character's trademark chakram. Her role as Xena has made her a universally recognized celebrity. An example of the popularity of Xena: Warrior Princess is that Lawless is a universally recognized celebrity despite the fact that she has not had a major role outside of the television series. She was even portrayed as a character on The Simpsons (playing a super-powered, flying version of herself). In 1997, Lawless was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine. Days earlier on 6 May 1997, Lawless famously and inadvertently exposed one of her breasts (resulting from a wardrobe malfunction) while singing the US national anthem at an NHL hockey game in Anaheim, California between the Mighty Ducks and Detroit Red Wings . She later said (quoted in Newsweek): "I was mortified. . . . It was quite a bit more exposure than I want". She has since appeared in the Vagina Monologues, on the first two episodes of the ninth season of The X-Files, and in the short-lived (eight episodes) television series Tarzan. She has had brief appearances in the movies Eurotrip, Spider-Man, and the horror film Boogeyman. Her next role was on TV battling bugs in her new TV-movie Locusts! Lawless also made a guest appearance in an episode of the second season of TV drama series Veronica Mars.
  6. Melissa Joan Hart (born April 18, 1976) is an American actress who is best known for playing the title roles in two successful television series, Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Hart was born in Smithtown, New York, on Long Island, to Paula and William Hart, and grew up in Sayville, New York. Her stepfather (since 1994) is television executive Leslie Gilliams. Hart was named after the Allman Brothers song "Melissa", while her middle name, Joan, came from her maternal grandmother. Hart chose Catherine as her confirmation name when she was in eighth grade, resulting in her full name: Melissa Joan Catherine Hart. Hart has three sisters, three half-sisters and one brother, all younger than she. The oldest, Trisha Hart, has worked as a producer. Sisters Elizabeth and Emily, brother Brian, and half-sister Alexandra Hart-Gilliams have all acted. Her two youngest half-sisters are not in show business. Hart's career began early on. When she was still a baby, she made her first television commercial for a bathtub toy called Splashy. From then on, she appeared regularly in commercials, making 25 of them before the age of five. Other early television work included a small role in the miniseries Kane & Abel in 1985, a guest-starring role in an episode of The Equalizer in 1986, and a starring role alongside Katherine Helmond in the Emmy Award-winning TV movie Christmas Snow, also in 1986. In 1989, she auditioned for a Broadway production of The Crucible starring Martin Sheen, becoming an understudy to three of the young girls in the play. This paved the way for her to land the title role in the TV show Clarissa Explains It All. The Nickelodeon series, a comedy about a teen girl in everyday situations, became a big hit during its four-year run. The show made her a household name among American teenagers and brought her four consecutive Young Artist Award nominations, of which she won three. Hart also recorded two albums as Clarissa, This is What 'Na Na' Means and a recording of Peter and the Wolf (Sony Classical SK 64079). The former, a rock/pop album in the style of a garage band, was mostly a novelty product and did not receive much attention from critics or the public. The latter album won a Parents' Choice award. [1] After the television series was canceled, Hart attended New York University. She did not complete her degree, however, since she soon resumed her acting career when she got the lead role for the 1995 TV movie Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. This was followed by the television series of the same name which lasted seven seasons. In between, she also guest-starred on the series Touched by an Angel and starred in several TV movies. In 1998, Hart landed a small part in the movie Can't Hardly Wait, and then started filming Next to You, starring alongside Adrian Grenier. Hart asked friend Britney Spears to do a remix of her song "(You Drive Me) Crazy" and add it to the movie's soundtrack. To capitalize on the song's success as a top-ten hit, the title of the movie was changed to Drive Me Crazy and Hart appeared in the music video. The movie, however, was only moderately successful. Hart has appeared in several other films, but none of them have received much recognition. In 2005, Hart directed her first movie, a 15-minute live-action short called Mute, starring her sister Emily. Hart had already gained experience directing several episodes of her Sabrina the Teenage Witch television series. Hart appeared in lingerie in a series of photos featured in the October 1999 issue of the men's magazine Maxim, as well as in similarly revealing pictorials in Bikini and Movieline magazines around the same time. This caused problems for both Hart and ABC (the network broadcasting Sabrina the Teenage Witch at the time) since the copyright holder of the Sabrina franchise, Archie Comics, regarded the series as a show for children and pre-teens, and believed that the Maxim photos and the accompanying article hurt the show's wholesome image (Hart also discussed her sex life and alluded to a Sabrina drinking game that could be played while watching the show). The chairman and co-publisher of Archie Comics, Michael Silberkleit, demanded that Hart either apologize or be fired from the series. She neither apologized nor was fired. On July 19, 2003, Hart married musician Mark Wilkerson, a member of the band Course of Nature. The preparations for the ceremony, which took place in Florence, Italy, were documented in a TV miniseries titled Tying the Knot, produced by Hart's production company, Heartbreak Films. In June 2005, Hart announced that she and her husband were expecting their first child in January 2006. She gave birth to a baby boy, Mason Walter Wilkerson, at 4:19 p.m. on January 11, 2006. 8. Francesco Totti (born September 27, 1976 in Rome) is an Italian football player, who currently plays for AS Roma in Serie A and for the Italian national team. Francesco Totti's position is that of a striker or an attacking midfielder, though he's best known for playing as the "trequartista", a compromise between the two positions where the player acts as a link between midfield and attack. He is also Roma's first choice to take free kicks, having scored a number of goals from dead-ball situations. Totti is widely recognised as the symbol of Roman football, having never left the city's team despite the possibility of playing in stronger and richer clubs, and being the number one goalscorer in the club's history. Totti was born and raised in Rome, in the Porta Metronia city neighbourhood. His parents are Enzo and Fiorella Totti. Unlike other children his age who preferred to watch cartoons, Totti was always more interested in watching football matches instead. Totti constantly played football with older boys. His mother refused a big deal for her son from A.C. Milan while waiting for a deal from his favourite club A.S. Roma. His mother intended to never let her son step foot out of the "Eternal City". Totti finally joined the A.S. Roma junior team in 1989. Very talented as a teenager, Totti scored in Italy's 4-1 defeat by Spain in the final of the UEFA European Under-18 Championship in July 1995. In the final of the Under-21 competition in 1996, Totti opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw against the Spanish before triumphing on penalties. Totti made his senior Azzurri debut in the Euro 2000 qualifying victory against Switzerland on 10 October 1998. He played in the finals tournament and scored against Romania and Belgium and played in the final; losing to France. Although he was on the losing side, Totti was named Man of the Match in the final and described by many soccer legends, including Michael Platini (France), as the best player of the tournament. Disappointment followed at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, with Totti failing to make a significant impact and then being sent off as Italy lost to the South Korea in the second round, when he controversially received a second yellow card for alleged penalty area diving by the referee Byron Moreno. At Euro 2004, Totti garnered negative media attention when he spat at Christian Poulsen, a midfielder for Denmark. Totti was subsequently banned until the semi-finals, but did not play in the tournament again, as Italy failed to qualify for the next round. In defense of Totti, Poulsen has developed a reputation for a dirty player. The Danish defender was described as "a coward" by A.C. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti during the 05-06 season, for his continuous provocation of Kak
