Schumacher to keep advisory role at Ferrari Michael Schumacher has said he will continue to work for Ferrari's Formula 1 team as the team's advisor. Speaking at Sunday's Race of Champions he said he enjoyed the job while spending time with his family. Speaking to Sky TV Schumacher said: ""I have to say very interesting things have opened up for me," he said. "Being together with my family is one particular thing that I have enjoyed the most because the school holidays are fixed and those were the only times when we could have vacations together. "It's nice to be home for them because usually I was testing, travelling, racing and doing events and usually planning for the holidays was always rather a compromise so these are the most beautiful moments that we can spend together. In the future I don't know but right now I am going to stay in my advisory role for Ferrari. I am quite happy in this role and I want to be a happy family father and enjoy life."

Ronaldo: I Need To Deserve A New Contract Troubled AC Milan striker Ronaldo has expressed a desire to stay at the San Siro beyond the end of the current season ,but he's aware that it'll be an uphill struggle if he's to do so... Ronaldo has announced himself as being eager to remain at AC Milan when his contract runs out in June 2008. The Brazilian striker arrived at the San Siro in January 2007, scoring 7 Serie A goals in 14 appearances after arriving from Real Madrid. He's yet to play a single game in the current campaign, though, after suffering from a series of injuries. Now, he knows that he faces an uphill struggle to keep his place at the San Siro side. "I'll stay here if I deserve to do so, but I know that I need to truly merit it," he told the press. Despite not taking any personal part in the Club World Cup, which AC Milan won, the former Inter man was pleased. "I'm not selfish, so I'll congratulate my teammates for what they've achieved," he said. Calf problems seem to form the basis of Ronaldo's current woes, and for this reason he won't rush back into action. "I want to play, but we need to deal with my calf issues calmly and rationally," he warned.

BERLUSCONI: "We are not old and I believe in Ronaldo" MILAN - The President doesn't want to hear allegations of an "old" Milan squad, according to him the average age of players has increased: "Take Maldini and his extraordinary longevity, he is an example for his team mates. Today thanks to the medicine of sports and a correct living style the career of a player can increase in length. That's why I think Ronaldo can still play five years at a high level."
  11. Coulthard would consider NASCAR David Coulthard says he would consider NASCAR as an option for his future career once he retires from Formula One. The Scot, who also hinted at closing on the end of his career in Formula One, told espn.com at the Race of Champions last weekend that he would prefer NASCAR over a single-seater series like the IRL if he was to commit to a move to the US. "I would consider something like NASCAR," Coulthard said "I don't think I would consider IRL. The only thing is, in America, you have to commit to it absolutely. Which means you move out there, take your family there. "But I'd certainly consider it. This will be my 15th season in Formula One. After that... I'll do this as long as I'm having fun, as long as they keep saying 'Would you like to continue?'" Coulthard praised NASCAR saying that even if there has not been a massive interest towards the series in Formula One circles, he believes that it can be a big challenge like it has been for his former rival and friend Jacques Villeneuve. He added that the migration of open-wheel drivers that kicked off last year with Juan Pablo Montoya has contributed to change the overall perception of NASCAR in Europe and around the world. "I think it's checking the box of NASCAR," he added. "Generally, people in Formula One haven't really been that aware of NASCAR, and of what we have been aware of we've probably higher respect for NASCAR than what we have for the oval racing IRL. "That may come as a surprise, but as a single-seater racer in Europe, the perception in Europe is if you're flat on a super speedway, yes there's tactics, but how is that more challenging than driving Monaco? "That's a simplistic view, I know, and I've not done it. But [Jacques] Villeneuve is a friend of mine who's obviously won over there [in Champ Car], came over to F1 and won in F1. I just know it's a different challenge." Coulthard, whose Formula One team has a sister operation in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, believes the arrival of more foreign drivers will help the series to continue to expand, even if he thinks that still the more established stock car drivers will prevail over those coming from other series. "NASCAR is so different, and any of us in a touring car would find how difficult they are relative to a single-seater," Coulthard said. "So all it does is keep checking the boxes [for NASCAR]. "If they keep getting, it doesn't have to be European drivers, but if they keep getting foreign drivers in the championship it's only a matter of time before it becomes more and more [followed] around the world. "From a NASCAR point of view, from what I can see they're not fumbling with the business model to make money and everyone's doing very well. But it can't hurt any business to expand. "And yeah, maybe it's frowned upon by some of the good ol' boys. But the Jimmie Johnsons, the consistent talented guys, will still be there and mixing it with these drivers from other formulas - and beating them."

Kovalainen will push Hamilton - Button Jenson Button says Lewis Hamilton shouldn't expect an easy ride from new team mate Heikki Kovalainen when the two drive for McLaren in 2008. Kovalainen was confirmed as Fernando Alonso's replacement at the end of last week. "I'm sure Kovalainen is not interested in just finishing a few races in front, I'm sure he wants to go for the title," Button told Reuters. "He won't hold back just because he's got Lewis as a team mate. I think it's good for both of them." "He's a great guy and deserves to stay in a team," Button added about Kovalainen. "Having him not racing in F1 would be wrong. It's great that he's got a drive."
