Kaka career in danger from constant fouls: AC Milan ROME (AFP) - AC Milan have complained that Brazilian playmaker Kaka's career is in danger as he is being targeted by opposing teams for what appears to be a strategy to foul him. The reigning European and World Footballer of the Year had to leave the pitch at half-time on Sunday against Palermo with an injury to his left knee and will miss Wednesday's Italian league match against Catania. The top Italian club added what struck them most was not that Kaka was being continually fouled by the same player from their opponents but that there seemed to be a systematic plan by the teams to do so. A club statement on their internet site said: "It's never the same player which makes two consecutive fouls on Ricky (Kaka's nickname). Players take turns as if there is a plan, as if it is part of their strategy. Evidently the referees have not noticed this." On Monday, Kaka told a television station: "I don't like to talk to referees but they need to do something because I'm being fouled a lot at the moment." The club statement continued: "The treatment which is being handed out to Kaka is the same as which ended the career of Marco van Basten (part of the dominant AC Milan side in the late 80's and early 90's). "The great Dutch player played his last match at the top level as a 28-year-old in November 1992. "It all just came to an end for van Basten but the same thing must not happen to Kaka."

HUNTING DOWN KAKA'! Parma-Milan, three fouls in the first twenty minutes. Milan-Palermo, three fouls in the first twenty nine. Carrozzieri, after Bovo, the Kaka method is having a following. But the most safeguarded are his opponents. MILAN – The initial "score" of the last two league games on Ricardo Kaka? Here you go. Parma-Milan, first half: in the 7th minute a foul by Morrone from behind, in the 17th minute a foul by Dessena on the edge of the penalty area, in the 20th minute a foul by Morrone. These last in particular is the model of the Kaka-method. The “targeted” player did a bad slide tackle on the player’s foot, risking everything: leg, or ankle, it doesn’t matter, on him you have to risk. It’s not over. Milan-Palermo, first half: after 1 minute and 43 seconds a bad foul by Guana, from behind, exactly on the knee which is hurting Kaka. In the 22nd minute a foul by Migliaccio in midfield, not even whistled by the referee. In the 29th minute a foul by Bresciano, from behind, on Kaka who was launched towards the penalty area, with Ricky, who full of knocks and pain, has a reaction towards the referee. Amongst these two games, London, where the loyalty in the Champions League and the sports culture are higher. What really hits us in the Italian league, is not just the numerous number of fouls on Kaka, on which the referees of our league overlook, but the scientific factor. It’s never the same player to make these fouls. There is an alteration between one player and another. As if it was a strategy. Almost the sign of a preparation. And here evidently the referees have no fault at all. The hammering which Kaka is suffering is the same which had mined the physique and resistance of Marco Van Basten. The Dutch star played his last game at the highest level at 28 years of age. It was November 1992 against Gothenborg at San Siro. Then here never came back. No! It must not happen for Kaka too. There is no post-Golden Ball crisis and there is no world class player playing badly. We are simply facing a player who is hunted, who has to stop for 15-20 days to manage his problems, then evidently does not return on the pitch at his best. The reality is that whereas the Milan opponents take turns in fouling Kaka, and the first minutes foul does not receive any sanction, it is becoming a custom of most Italian teams towards Kaka. The Rossoneri’s team are therefore risking an important part of the season against Arsenal. In the Kaka will recover, he will prepare himself and he will do his best to be in front of 80,000 fans at San Siro. Until the next foul, or the ‘ordinary administration’ of the Italian referees. So in the end, until when?
  6. We Have To Win Every Home Game - Raúl Raúl González has demanded that Real Madrid drop no more points at home this season and that the Bernabéu returns to being a formidable place for away teams to go. Los Merengues' captain was philosophical after his side were beaten by a bizarre goal from Getafe on Sunday, but remained confident that the title was still in their hands. Now Raúl wants a return to the form that saw Madrid chalk up such an impressive lead over arch rivals Barcelona earlier in the campaign. "The key is for ourselves not to let any more points escape in the Bernabéu," he said. "In the second half of the season we have already lost all the points that we can afford to. "There are 13 games left and apart from problems in the last few games, we are going to continue in the manner that put us on top. "We knew that this could happen and that the team would have to do everything possible to obtain our goal." Despite seeing the gap at the top of the table heavily reduced, Raúl does not believe that Madrid should start panicking. "We are still confident and are in a privileged situation," he continued. "Madrid are still top by two points, although what happened at the weekend was not part of the plan. "We want to continue making the Bernabéu into a fortress."

Guti: We Can't Become The New Barça Real Madrid playmaker Guti hopes and prays that his side won't follow in the footsteps of Barcelona by surrendering what once seemed to be a commanding lead at the top of the Liga standings... The veteran midfielder told As.com that mistakes were costing his side, but that he hoped they could stop the rot in time to prevent throwing away the title. "We're well aware that the errors committed recently have cost us three defeats," he began. "We might be playing well generally, but we're not getting results. We must deal with these little errors so as not to throw away more matches. "We must not fall into relaxation mode. We need to be a team, which was what drove us towards the Liga last year. We must concentrate offensively and defensively. "Will what happened to Barça happen to us? Hopefully not. We know that we're committing the same mistakes and failings as them. But hopefully we can avoid falling into such a situation. "We must take each day as it comes and not count titles just yet. It's a long time to go before the Liga winner is settled." Getafe Gaffe The player was asked to look back on the lapse of concentration leading to Getafe's goal on Sunday evening, during which only he and Heinze were really alert to the danger. "We didn't hear the whistle, and they took advantage of this opportunity to break forward and make the goal," rued the former Spanish international. "It was a moment of confusion. I saw hos the linesman lifted his hand, but the referee didn't follow: then came the move and the goal, and only then did the referee see that the flag was raised. Our mistake was celebrating the goal before having it confirmed. "These kind of mistakes see us lose matches. We need to be focused for the whole 90 minutes, knowing at all times what we need to do." Renewal Guti has recently been announced as the next player to join Van Nistelrooy and Casillas in being given a 'contract for life', with As speculating that such gala occasions could prove distracting. "The fact that they recognise our work is very nice," countered the midfielder. "The club has relied on these people to continue the good work that started two years ago. "We need to go along with that and I don't think it's causing problems on the pitch. "Am I superstitious? No, not much... oh, since Van Nistelrooy signed a renewal he hasn't scored? No, I don't believe that's a factor. I believe that everyone tries their best; I don't think it's an influencing factor. Things are up and down. "Hopefully I will sign soon. I'm happy to belong to a club like Real Madrid for so long - not just in the first team. One of my dreams was to retire here and it looks like I'm going to achieve it." The National Side Everything looks fine for Guti on the domestic front, but he is still far away from Luis Aragones' plans for the national team. Reflecting on the Raul-Aragones press conference, he shrugged, "These are very personal decisions. "It's true that it's hard getting up almost every day, and then hearing such discussions on radio or TV. "In the end, both Raul and Luis want things to go well. Luis has toe decide who goes and who doesn't, and he must be respected. "I imagine it's difficult for the two of them to see if he is going or not."

Higuaín & Guti "We will continue to fight" Real Madrid's players have already forgotten about the defeat and think only about their next League clash with Recreativo Huelva. Higuaín "We unfortunately dropped three points. The only thing we can do now is to continue fighting. The League is much tighter. We only think about our match in Huelva. We have to try to win all our games. I don't want to talk about Getafe's goal. I didn't see it. We are strong and we know we can't allow something like that to happen again. We have to stand firm and to start work well again." Guti "It's amazing something like this happened to Real Madrid. We can't afford to drop three points in situations like these, especially when we have the game under control and more chances of scoring the first goal. We knew the game was going to be complicated. It's a shame to have put an end to the great run we had at home. I don't think Getafe deserved to win and we are very disappointed. A team like Real Madrid shouldn't lose three consecutive games."

Ronaldo Prepared For Worst AC Milan striker Ronaldo admits he must be prepared for the worst after suffering a serious knee injury two weeks ago. The 31-year-old ruptured tendons in his left knee against Livorno and knows he must face up to the fact he may never play competitive football again. "I have to be prepared for the possibility of retiring," Ronaldo told Brazilian television show Fantastico. "I know it won't be easy. It will be a very tough recovery and something might happen during the recovery period which means I cannot play again. "But I will leave that possibility aside until the end of the rehabilitation. If then my knee still hurts every day, even after it has mended, maybe it would be time to say goodbye to football. "I have to make a good recovery so I can ride a bike with my son and run with him without pain." The World Cup winner sustained a similar injury in his other knee in 1999 and was out for more than a year. "As soon as I did the injury I wondered why it was happening to me again, what had I done to deserve it," he added. Brazilian giants Flamengo have expressed their desire to sign Ronaldo as soon as he comes back from the injury, but the striker is reluctant to discuss the possibility because of the uncertainty currently shrouding his future. "It is not the best moment to talk about Flamengo or Milan or any other club," he said. "Logically, no club wants a 31-year-old player who has had two operations, suffered terrible injuries to his knees and is doubtful to play again. "However, at the same time, I don't need any charity by any club. I just thank God for my history in football."

Ronaldo Has Nothing To Prove – Leonardo Milan director Leonardo has eased the pressure on Ronaldo to recover from his horrific injury by telling him that he has nothing to prove to anyone. El Fenomeno ruptured a tendon in his knee during the match with Livorno two weeks ago, putting his career in huge doubt. The rehabilitation process will be a very long one, and Leonardo admits that these have been difficult times for Ronaldo since he suffered the injury. "They were difficult and tense days,” Leonardo told Sky Italia. “For him this is certainly a time of great reflection, however, Ronaldo is positive, is strong, and inside he still has many things that he must get on board.” Ronaldo will not return to action for at least nine months, although many people believe he may never return to the field. "I think that it depends a lot on what happens in the coming months of rehabilitation,” Leonardo explained. “However it must be pointed out that Ronaldo does not have to prove anything.” The 31-year-old will undoubtedly go down as one of the best strikers in the history of the game.
