Catania 1:1 AC Milan - match report Scorers: Pato 55 (M), Spinesi 63 © Alexandre Pato's opener was cancelled out in Catania, but the home side can complain at two disallowed goals. The Sicilians had lost four on the trot, but had already defeated Milan over two legs on their way to the Coppa Italia semi-final earlier this season. Having said that, their last Serie A victory over the Rossoneri was in May 1963. Kaka was out with a knee injury and Andrea Pirlo rested. Alexandre Pato was immediately dangerous, halted for a very tight offside position and a left-foot strike charged down. Silvestre just failed to get on the end of a set-piece at the back post. Pato got down the right channel and sparked a promising move, but Clarence Seedorf's finish was deflected out for a corner by the desperate Mark Edusei with the goalkeeper sliding in. Zeljko Kalac bravely plucked a Gennaro Sardo cross off Giuseppe Mascara's foot, causing pain to the little finger he dislocated just over a week ago. Pato continued to test Ciro Polito from distance and Pippo Inzaghi nodded a Marcos Cafu cross just past the post. In the second half Seedorf's free kick was too high to trouble Polito, while at the other end Martinez failed to make the most of a promising opportunity. The disappointing match sprung to life thanks to 18-year-old Pato. He shook off three Catania players 25 metres out, then unleashed a right-foot snapshot that bounced just in front of Polito to slip into the far bottom corner of the net. Inzaghi also scored on 62 minutes, but it was correctly disallowed for an offside position. It proved decisive, as moments later substitute Gionatha Spinesi equalised for Cataia, springing the offside trap to nod in a Vargas cross from the left. Spinesi had only been on the field for four minutes and was surprisingly out of the starting XI after coming under pressure from fans for missing a penalty last week. Catania hit the back of the net again soon after, but it was disallowed for Silvestri's soft push on Daniele Bonera. Kalac blocked a Martinez header, as the Sicilians were now pouring forward. The Elefanti had a second goal disallowed for a tight Colucci offside position, but Milan seemed to lose all momentum after Inzaghi's attempt was ruled out. Polito got a scare from Pato late on, but neither side was able to get past the 1-1 scoreline. Catania: Polito; Sardo (Spinesi 59), Silvestri, Stovini, Silvestre, Varagas; Colucci, Edusei, Baiocco; Martinez (Alvarez 84), Mascara Milan: Kalac; Cafu (Oddo 67), Bonera, Maldini, Favalli; Brocchi (Gattuso 79), Emerson, Ambrosini; Seedorf; Pato, Inzaghi (Gilardino 77)

  4. Exclusive Interview - Red Bull’s David Coulthard With just over two weeks to go until the season opener in Melbourne, the majority of teams have been hard at work testing at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya this week. Red Bull are amongst those in action, keen to make the most of the dwindling track time left before March’s Australian race. One of the biggest questions of 2008 is whether the team’s RB4 will be the stroke of genius everyone is expecting from chief technical officer Adrian Newey or not. Red Bull driver David Coulthard is cautiously optimistic that it is, and back behind the wheel, after a day resting following a neck injury, we caught up with the Scot to find out more… Q: Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel was in your car on Tuesday. What happened? David Coulthard: I felt very good in car but the conditions on the first day were not ideal. Obviously I didn’t warm up enough which led to the trapped nerve that the physio is working on. So I suggested that Sebastian Vettel should get in my car as Sebastien Buemi (Red Bull’s test and reserve driver) has no experience in Formula One, and as we are in the middle of the countdown for Melbourne, I thought that as a team we will gain more having an experienced driver in the car. Sebastien Bourdais was driving the single Toro Rosso, so it was a good use of the driving resource that we have. Q: Your team mate Mark Webber has been quite excited about the RB4. How would you judge Red Bull’s 2008 challenger? DC: We had a much better winter than last year, so our preparations are significantly advanced. My benchmark for this year is very clear. You have the winner of the race and you have the guy who is last, and the only time you can be satisfied is when you win - anything else is a step in the team’s development. And as long as I feel that the team is moving forward each year, and closing the gap to the quickest team by hopefully scoring more points, then I feel that we are making progress. As we speak, testing is going on with no points and no tangible results so I prefer to wait until Melbourne. And when we speak on Sunday night after the race I’ll tell you if we are in better shape or I’ll just say ‘ick’! Q: Last season reliability was a big issue, with the team enduring 14 retirements. Over the winter, it seems that the car has made a great leap forward in terms of consistency. Would you agree? DC: Yes, we have made a big step forward, so the changes that have been implemented at the factory in regards to the design process and ultimately the manufacturing, have started to show results. Last year we really gave away too many points - that will not happen again. Q: What do you think are the most interesting differences between the RB4 and its predecessor? DC: Visually it’s quite different and under the skin it is quite different as well, but it has nothing significantly unique to Formula One. In one way or another, it is similar to what you find up and down the pit lane - but with the added icing of Adrian’s special touch. Q: What would you identify as the RB4’s weak spots? DC: Well, ultimately it is not doing the fastest lap times - so that is the weak spot. How do you achieve the fastest lap time? That’s a combination of a number of factors. It is a popular belief that aerodynamics is the most dominant factor in a Formula One car so we have to look at that side very carefully for further improvements on the track. Q: You recently talked about how all the teams have wind tunnels, skilled people and work hard but that some teams still have an advantage. What do you believe is the formula for a fast car? DC: I think continuity over a period of years and a winning culture. When we started we had 400 people, now we have 600 and to make them work together and understand each other takes time. You have to crawl before you can run. Q: Everybody seems to agree that the first four spots on the grid will be occupied by the usual suspects. How do you think the situation behind Ferrari and McLaren will develop? And where do you believe the Red Bulls will fit in? DC: I think that nothing is agreed right now. My guess is that it will be very tight between Williams and Renault, and probably Toyota. I don’t know where BMW Sauber are right now, if they are slightly in front of us or not. But taking it as given that Ferrari and McLaren have an advantage, that group just mentioned is fighting over fifth to 10th place. We will have to wait for the Melbourne qualifying to see what happens. I would say - let’s go to Oz! Q: You are about to embark on your 15th season in Formula One racing. You’ve seen it all - are you still as fond of it as ever? DC: Is that really so! Well, I still love racing - that has not changed in all the years I have been in Formula One. And that will not change. Q: Your goals must have changed over the years. Before it was surely to win the championship, whereas nowadays is it to make Red Bull a success? Are you both a driver and a consultant for the squad? DC: Of course, as I don’t have a championship car this year. When I joined Red Bull Racing I knew that the resources would be there and I knew that I could play a part in helping them to develop, whether as a driver or in other areas of my experience. And in the end racing in the front or racing in the middle is still racing. Q: After the end of this test, the next time you get into the car will be at Melbourne. In Australia the RB4 has to show its true colours. What is your prediction for the race? DC: If we could qualify in the top ten and score some points it would be a very welcome start to the season. Of course, I would love more but let’s keep our feet on the ground.

Aditya Chopra files for divorce, to marry Rani? MUMBAI: He made the hugely popular Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and the not so brilliant Mohabbatein , soared at the box office with Dhoom and Chak De , and is now all set to direct Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi . But finally, hot-shot film producer and sometime director Aditya Chopra's penchant for romance on the big screen may get a legal entry into his real life this May. Movie mogul Yash Chopra's son is finally on his way to ending his marriage with Payal Khanna and perhaps making a new beginning with current beau, actress Rani Mukherjee. Chopra's films may have a rambling, leisurely feel, but the mutual consent petition he filed a couple of months back is a crisp two-page affair. There's no storyline here. As the law requires, it merely says that the husband and wife have irreconcilable differences and want out. Their married life of five-odd years is headed nowhere, they have told the family court in Bandra. The mandatory six-month cooling-off period required after filing a mutual consent divorce petition will get over this May for the producer. It took three joint meetings with their lawyer for the two to set their divorce process in motion. Their lawyer advised them and they agreed not to mention the terms of settlement in the court documents, opting instead for an out-of-court arrangement. As there are no children involved, heartache is at a minimum. Aditya's family is not too happy with his decision. Family sources say that his parents love their daughter-in-law and would like to take care of her even after the formal split. She has, in any case, been given a spacious home in Juhu and her bank balance has been augmented by several crores. Yash Raj Studios, which has churned out blockbusters and is worth an estimated Rs 1,000 crore, owes its success to the 36-year-old Aditya's brains. The quiet, soft-spoken producer prefers to keep a low profile in the media and his interviews are hard to come by. Aditya's marriage, it is believed, started falling apart about two years ago. In the first half of 2006 he almost moved out of his house, said sources close to the family. Better known as Adi in the film industry, he returned from the outdoor shoot of Karan Johar’s film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna but instead of going home checked into a five-star hotel. An adamant Adi had insisted then that he would not come home, even as his parents tried to reason with him. He apparently wanted Payal to move out of the house before he returned home. He even allegedly threatened to start his own production house, said industry sources. Payal then decided to move to Singapore for sometime so that Aditya would return home and work. The sprawling and swanky Yash Raj Films studio at Andheri link road with its state-of-the-art set up has apparently been designed by Payal. She had worked relentlessly for years to put up the new YRF studio.

Priyanka Chopra not starving herself for 'Fashion' Mumbai, (IANS) Priyanka Chopra rebuffs rumours that she has lost weight to play a model in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Fashion'. 'It's the silliest story I've heard about myself in a long time.... on a par with the one about me being in Sydney with Harman Baweja for the New Year when I was actually shooting an ad in Bangkok,' Priyanka told IANS. 'No, nobody has told me to do anything for the role in 'Fashion'. Madhur Bhandarkar and I share great rapport. He didn't ask me to lose weight for the character,' she added. However, Priyanka has worked on herself for her next two roles as well. 'I always like to work on my character. That's why I work on one film at a time. For 'Fashion' I opted for a toned body. I went on a health-conscious diet, though I didn't cut down on my food or anything. And I'll be using the same physique for my film with Karan Johar,' she said. 'It's set on the beach of Miami. Imagine two months on the sun and sand and so the toned body would be just what the dietician ordered. But, sorry, I don't get into a bikini for Karan's film,' Priyanka was firm. Karan's film also features Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. Priyanka says she doesn't endorse anorexic figures. 'It isn't about getting thin at all. It's just about toning my body. I don't think you need to be reed-thin to be beautiful. I think Indian women look terrible when they try to get anorexic. We (Indian women) are naturally healthy. And by that I don't mean voluptuous,' she says. 'But, yes, we've been given a certain kind of figure. We're well proportioned and aesthetically endowed in all the right places. And by getting exceptionally thin, we're going against nature.' Told that her co-star Kangana Ranaut is inherently reed-slim, Priyanka laughed: 'Yes, but she loves her food. She just has her own individual body type. Kangana and I share plenty of health tips. We got along really well. I really think she's sweet. 'When Madhur decided to cast Kangana, I was so happy. She really suits her part. So, the other story that really bugs is that we're fighting over scenes in 'Fashion'. On the contrary we've a lot of fun together.'

Priyanka shoots non-stop for 21 hours! Meanwhile, Piggy Chopra we hear created a new world record of sorts by shooting non-stop for 21 hours for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. We hear that before flying off for Tarun Mansukhani’s film Dostana in Miami, she shot non-stop for Madhur’s Fashion and completed a major portion of it. “We started the shot at 5 am and it went on till the next morning, non-stop, everyone was exhausted but Priyanka was extremely professional, she didn’t complain or throw tantrums even once,” says a unit member. Madhur too confirms the news and says, “Yes, Priyanka was very professional. When she saw that I was not well and inspite of that I was on the sets, 24*7, she just gave in,” he laughs. Let’s hope the Guinness world record guys are reading this!

Hrithik, Shah Rukh turn item boys for Krazzy 4 Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for an item song for Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4 and Hrithik Roshan, who will feature in another version of the same number, says this proves that there is solidarity in Bollywood. "While I'm doing this for my home production, Shah Rukh is going out of his way for us. It just shows how much solidarity actually exists in the industry," Hrithik said. "Shah Rukh's version of the track will be a part of the film, my version will be used only for promotional purposes," Hrithik told IANS. Hrithik, whose period romance Jodhaa Akbar is set to release Feb 15, cannot stop waxing about King Khan's gesture. "Shah Rukh, whose association with my dad's banner goes back a long way to 'King Uncle' and Koyla, is being the portrait of graciousness," the Jodhaa-Akbar star said. "In mid-February, when my knee is fully healed and I get back to doing what I am best - action and dancing - I'll be performing the same item song as Shah Rukh (is doing) for my dad's production," he said. But why the double delight? Won't the fact that Shah Rukh and Hrithik are dancing to the same tune invite unnecessary comparisons between the two? But Hrithik is sure such comparisons can be avoided. "Though we are dancing to the same song composed by my uncle (Rajesh Roshan) and to the same choreographer Ahmed Khan's instructions, we'll bring our own body language and style into it. Besides, Shah Rukh doesn't need to dance. I do." Sounding upbeat about his career's first item song, Hrithik said: "It's composed by my uncle and sung by Vishal (of Vishal-Shekhar). And it's the best dance track I've ever heard. I'm sure both Shah Rukh and I are going to have huge fun performing this item song." Shah Rukh had earlier performed an item song for Karan Johar's Kaal with Malaika Arora Khan.

I want to cater to kids: Shah Rukh Khan Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, who is all set to make a children's film in the VFX medium, using computer-generated special effects, says he is overwhelmed by the response he gets from children and wants to cater to them. "I love kids and I am overwhelmed by the response I get from children. Adults like me by chance," Shah Rukh Khan told IANS. "I have maintained my love for kids since long and want to cater to them because they have the shortest attention span. I want to make a place in the hearts of the little ones and then I will automatically reach the families. As children handle the remote control these days, everyone has to watch what they like. "Theatre director Barry John, my acting teacher at Delhi Theatre, used to say: 'if you can capture the interest of kids, you will be always successful' and I stick to that," he added. Shah Rukh was recently in Berlin to promote Om Shanti Om and was interviewed by Hollywood trade magazine Variety. The magazine reported that the proposed children's film would be made at a budget of $25 million (Rs.1 billion), the highest budget in India. But commenting here about the money to be spent on making the film, Shah Rukh said: "Media is speculating about the budget. We are still working on the script." The actor, also the owner of the Kolkata team franchisee Red Chillies Entertainment, said through all these initiatives - investment in sports and VFX film - he wants to do something for the country which has given him so much. "My dream is to invest money and bring better technology in our country that has given me money, love, respect... everything one can ask for! Not only cricket, we want to invest in all kind of games. "I think if children are allowed to play all the time along with little bit of studies, 'creative' aggression would develop in them. It would prevent them from indulging in vices like smoking, drinking or drugs." And when is the superstar planning to kick the butt! "I have been trying to kick the butt since long. But it is very difficult to give up bad habits. And I can't be dishonest in saying I will quit smoking and then don't do it." "However, I would appeal to children that they must not pick up this habit from me, as fans have a tendency to imitate their favourite stars. This is a bad habit and is injurious to health. They must never do it," he stressed. King Khan is now set to host a television quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain and says the medium doesn't matter because he is an entertainer. "I started my career with television and with time the small screen is becoming better. However, being a jester, my idea is to entertain by films, by stage shows... by all possible formats."
