  1. On the subject of "dream covers" and seeing a lot of strong opinions here and elsewhere about these issues, I thought about starting a thread where every user just "designs" their own Swimsuit issue.

Lay down some ground rules to keep it from becoming a total free for all (or a carbon copy of VS swim), then vote at the end. But I've been too busy to actually draw it up.

Examples of a ground rule might be... no rookies who didn't make it getting another chance. Which would rule out one of my favorites, Catrinel Menghia. Models who once appeared, but stopped, not returning (like Bar or Kate). An upper limit on the number of rookies/replacements (so as to discourage folks from replacing everyone with their own personal top 15), nobody who might broadly fall under the category of "if they were going to do it, they'd have done it by now," etc.

  2. Also :ninja: How is this any "sluttier" than these?  :idk:  A lot of the girls posed the exact same way Rose did. (In other shots as well.)

There is no difference. This thread has a habit of calling women of color "cheap." Also, any models who are outspoken about feminism or their ambivalence regarding the modeling industry have "bad personalities."

  3. Personally I think it's better than the Gen and Lily pictures. But then I just don't like Lily much. Pose wise it seems like the equivalent of Hanna's cover, just with her top instead of her bottom.

That said, I may be overrating it because I tend to yawn at bodypaint and I gather that's all of the rest of Rose's (a favorite of mine) pictures in the magazine are, so my expectations are low.

Despite her healthy and unarguably gorgeous body, Lawley finds the "real women have curves" brigade patronising and unhelpful. "People use me as a figurehead, and to me that misses the point and is blatantly offensive to thin women – my sister, for one. Curves don't epitomise a woman. Saying, 'Skinny is ugly' should be no more acceptable than saying fat is. I find all this stuff a very controlling and effective way of making women obsess over their weight, instead of exploiting their more important attributes, such as intellect, strength and power. We could be getting angry about unequal pay and unequal opportunities, but we're too busy being told we're not thin enough or curvy enough. We're holding ourselves back."

This bit actually makes me like her more. :)

    Same.

  5. I don't think they're just hiring pretty faces to be Bond girls during this cycle, at least not for major roles. Alessandra Ambrosio-like "walk past Daniel Craig and smile" roles, maybe.

    There's always Michael Bay, though.

  6. Regarding Reddit investigations of crimes. Whether or not their heart is in the right place doesn't matter when their track record is atrocious, take for example the suspect they came up with for the Boston bombing.

  7. What exactly is "naive" about having images on a password locked allegedly-secure server?

Might as well claim someone whose money is stolen from the bank was naive for putting it there.
