Indeed she was! In fact one of the things that make BB so unique is the way her beauty changed and evolved over the course of time. There are many beautiful starlets whose looks stay basically the same all through their careers, aside from maturing, of course (Sophia Loren is an exquisite example). But with Bardot we have a whole array of different appearances. It was as if she shed her old skin every once in a while in order to become the embodiment of a new era. A lot of it has to do with her adopting different styles, of course, but somehow it seems to run deeper than that, as most of the others never achieve such thorough transformations despite of changing style. One aspect all her appearances have in common, though, while remaining sensitive to the changing of trends (and often ahead of them), is a strong element of timelessness. And that is another thing that's so special about Brigitte. Thanks for the LIFE photos, they're fantastic! -

Thanks for creating this thread. With her strong features, for me Dalida represents a type of timeless beauty that I admire in Erin O'Connor and Natascha McElhone, to speak of ladies of a more contemporary fame. And the story of her life is fascinating to say the least, although in a rather sad way.
