Real Madrid enquire about Neymar Santos president Luis Alfaro Ribeiro has revealed Real Madrid have enquired about the availability of star forward Neymar. The Brazilian is one of the hottest properties of the summer transfer market, with Chelsea and Manchester City also linked with the player, but Ribeiro insists no negotiations can take place until after his side's Copa Libertadores final second leg against Penarol on Wednesday night. Ribeiro admits the race for the teenager is hotting up and hinted that his sizeable release clause would have to be met before Santos would consider selling. "It is not just Madrid; a lot of other clubs in Europe have been calling us," Ribeiro told a press conference. "It is no surprise - it would be strange if they didn't want him. "If they pay the buy-out clause of 45million euros and the player wants to go, there is nothing we could do." Nevertheless, the Santos chief hopes his side can hang on to the 19-year-old - especially if they win the Copa Libertadores. "The clubs can talk to Neymar after the Libertadores, but I am sure that if we win the title, the reasons for Neymar to stay will be even stronger," he said. "I know mind-blowing offers will arrive, but the player will benefit more if he keeps developing here." Success for Santos on Wednesday would ensure a place in the Club World Championship in December, while Ribeiro also revealed ambitious plans for the club's centenary year. "Next year we celebrate our centenary; we are hopeful of bringing Robinho and Diego back to the club, and of keeping Elano and Ganso, and Neymar could be the biggest star of that movie," he said. "Santos will write a page in the history of world football that will change the lives of the footballers involved."- Kaká

Ronaldo vows to humble Barcelona Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a statement of warning to Barcelona, asserting that his side will bring their arch-rivals "back down to earth". Barcelona pipped Real in La Liga last season to claim their third successive league crown, and also eliminated Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals en-route to claiming their second European Cup in three years. Real did however have something to shout about when they beat Barcelona 1-0 in the Copa del Rey final, thanks to an extra-time winner by Ronaldo. Ahead of the new season, Ronaldo has laid down the gauntlet to Barca by promising to humble them. "We will be a lot stronger in the new season and I am confident that we have what it takes to beat them," Ronaldo told Vatan. "We will bring Barcelona back down to earth." Real finished the domestic league season four points behind Barca, and were not helped by their failure to overcome their rivals in their head-to-head encounters. Real were trashed 5-0 by Barca at the Nou Camp last November, before both sides played out a 1-1 stalemate at the Santiago Bernabeu in the seventh-last game of the season. Ronaldo concedes his side have to beat Barcelona in these encounters if they are to edge ahead in the title race. "In order to stop Barcelona, we'll have to beat them. "We can only win the league title if we manage to defeat them." Real have already reinforced their squad ahead of next season with a number of signings, none more high-profile than the arrival of Turkish playmaker Nuri Sahin from Borussia Dortmund. Ronaldo admits he does not know too much about Sahin, but has vowed to take it upon himself to help his new team-mate settle at the club. "I don't know too much about him. I've seen him play in the German league a few times. "I will do whatever I can to make him feel at home, though. "The important thing is that everybody does his utmost to make sure Real Madrid win trophies." Ronaldo is coming off the back of a breathtaking season, having broken all Spanish goalscoring records after he netted 40 goals in La Liga.- Caroline Celico

Casillas realistic on Aguero switch Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has admitted it would be difficult for the club to sign Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero. Casillas was full of praise for the Argentinean but conceded the fierce cross town rivalry between the two clubs would make a switch unlikely despite the rumours in the press reporting otherwise. "I do not think it would be comfortable or easy to make a move in the Spanish capital and go from Atletico Madrid to Real Madrid," Casillas was quoted in the Spanish press as saying. "Right now, Aguero is one of the three or four players who are a little bit higher in the world of football. "He is very young, determined and talented. He is being followed by many great teams." Meanwhile, Real's attempt to re-purchase Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo has also been squashed by club president Jose Maria del Nido.- Iker Casillas
Casillas calls Ronaldo his frenemy Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has revealed that he regularly argues with team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo. In an interview with ESPN, the goalkeeper said of Ronaldo: "He's a friend and a team-mate. A team-mate and a friend. But he's also an enemy, because we argue a lot." However, Casillas did have nothing but praise for Ronaldo's 40 league goals for Madrid last season, claiming that he would pick the Portuguese ahead of five-time Pichichi winner Hugo Sanchez in a Real Madrid fantasy side. "I never played with Hugo and I did not see him play much," he said. "I will stick with what I know and that's Cristiano. It's not by chance that he scored 40 in a season. And he has done it before so he must be good." Ronaldo scored an incredible 53 goals in all competitions last season but it only resulted in Madrid lifting the Copa del Rey trophy. Instead, bitter rivals Barcelona took home La Liga as well the UEFA Champions League crown but Casillas believes Madrid are taking important steps under new manager Jose Mourinho. "He [Mourinho] has formed a competitive team with aggressive character and he has made us more mature," Casillas said. "We are a young team and our first tooth came out with the Copa del Rey. But we are not satisfied and we have to be more ambitious." Madrid beat Barca 1-0 to win the Copa del Rey.- Cristiano Ronaldo
