MADRID, 5 Abr.

  3. Raul not going to Liverpool Guillem Ballague has filled a metaphorical bucket with icy cold water and poured it all over speculation linking Real Madrid striker Raul with Liverpool. “There has been no contact over a move and Rafa Benitez has far too much respect for the player,” he wrote, in a sentence that is unlikely to endear him to fellow Liverpool fans.
  4. oh,THATS a relief:)
  5. RAUL EYES MOVE TO LIVERPOOL-FOR FREE!! Amongst the coin-eyed nattering classes there is a saying about how it is much better to leave a party five minutes early than five minutes late. Or something like that. The point being that no matter how great you are, you can still outstay your welcome. A fact seemingly not lost on the Real Madrid legend, Raul, who is still very much at the Spanish red wine and orange juice party, only in more of a wallflower capacity. These days he is pretty much confined to the bench, whilst Ronaldo and the rest get to slow dance with the host. Metaphorically speaking. But now, the big news from the popular Spanish website Sport is that he plans to leave with his dignity in tact in the summer. The likely destination - Liverpool.

As reported in the popular Spanish daily, Marca, Crisitano Ronaldo has added to his vast array of football accessories with a curious mouthpiece, put together by sports boffins in Japan. Apparently, according to the bumph, this simple piece of plastic - presumably modeled on the popular gum-shields worn for thousands of years by boxers and rugby players - allows a player to correctly position his jaw, thus obviously increasing his muscle powe
  8. Liverpool to go after Real legend? Struggling Premier League giants Liverpool are apparently interested in signing Real Madrid striker Raul in the summer. The Mirror is reporting that Rafael Benitez is pulling out all the stops to persuade the veteran Madrid hitman to depart from sunny Madrid to sign with the Reds, where he will form a partnership with Spain's current in-form striker Fernando Torres. The Daily Mail has chipped in saying that Liverpool will extend a two-year deal to Raul. Raul has been rumoured to be interested in a move to play in the Premier League, after being dropped from the first team at the Bernabeu this season. Speculation has been rife that the former Spain international is ready to leave Spain in order to play first-team football. The 32-year-old has long been linked to a transfer to the MLS, particularly to the New York Red Bulls, following a season where he has just started eight games in La Liga so far, with a paltry four goals to his name. Raul has, however, played in seven Champions League matches this season and scored twice in those games.

Milan linked with Sergio Ramos AC Milan are reported to be interested in signing Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos in the summer. Ramos has been a constant and reassuring presence in the Real defence for a number of years and is currently in talks with the club over a contract extension. According to AS however, progress seems to have stalled over the right-back's asking price of €6 million per annum. This seems to have piqued the interest of AC Milan who are looking to shore up their defence. It would be a big surprise though, if the move were actually to go through. Financial trouble ails the Rossoneri currently and they are actually looking to trim the squad during the summer in a bid to raise funds.

Agent: Benzema staying in Madrid Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will not be leaving the club for AC Milan claimed his agent. It has been widely speculated by the Spanish media that Italian giants, Milan are looking to bolster their attacking options with the aid of the Frenchman. However his agent, Karim Djaziri cleared the air through Tuttomercatoweb.com, insisting that his client will not be leaving Madrid: "Benzema will stay in Madrid because he is very happy in Spain. "Milan? I have not heard from anyone. "And, in any case, Karim is really happy in Madrid and he intends to stay there."

United eyeing Karim Benzema Manchester United are reportedly lining up a bid for 22-year-old Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Benzema - one of the Galacticos who arrived at Real amidst a lot of fanfare last season, has been unable to command a regular place in the starting eleven. With Gonzalo Higuain in the middle of a purple patch, it seems unlikely that the situation will improve any time soon for the disgruntled forward. The Lyon marksman has gone on record to express his unhappiness with the state of affairs at the Bernabeu and an offer from the world's most famour club would surely be a big temptation for him. The Mirror states that United will once again try to lure the ex-Lyon ace to Old Trafford. The Red Devils' interest in Benzema is well known - since they try to buy him last summer. However, their £20 million bid was trumped by Real who ended up paying £30 million. Benzema to England might turn out to be the best solution for both parties. The English champions will ease fears that they are too dependent on Wayne Rooney for their goals, while Benzema's affair with the bench in the Bernabeu dugout might finally come to an end.

Higuain linked with Liverpool Real Madrid's in-form striker Gonzalo Higuain has again been linked with a move to England and this time to Liverpool. The Daily Mail reported that Reds manager Rafael Benitez is keeping a close eye on his former club for any discontent involving Higuain's contract talks. Higuain has become one the key players in the new-look Real side and is the top scorer for the Whites this season ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Raul and Karim Benzema. But Real's disappointing Champions League exit meant Real president Florentino Perez could once again splash the cash in the summer for big name players. Higuain is not considered a big name player and his place in the Real first-team is not guaranteed despite his goal-scoring form. Previously, Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked with the Argentine but now Liverpool have joined in the chase. Benitez is keen to strengthen his attacking options further and sees Higuian as the perfect partner for Fernando Torres. The Argentine will also signal Liverpool's statement of intent and prevent star players from leaving Anfield. The price could obviously prove to be a stumbling block for the Anfield outfit, and the Reds will have to let a handful of players go before making their intentions known in the summer transfer window.

There’s good reason. We’re excited to be the first to report that Xabi Alonso’s wife Nagore gave birth to a little baby girl yesterday in Madrid, slightly earlier than her April due date. They’ve called her Ane (pronounced A-nay), and we are assuming she’s made out of marshmallows and fluffy bunnytails – which, will coincide nicely with two-year-old Jon’s warm chocolate chip cookies and firetrucks DNA.

Higuain turns attention to local derby Real Madrid's two-goal hero Gonzalo Higuain was quick to turn his attention to this weekend's derby with Atletico. The in-form striker helped his side return to the top of the table with victory over neighbours Getafe. Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo both notched braces as Madrid downed Getafe 4-2 to record their 10th successive win in La Liga and leapfrog back over Barcelona at the summit. Madrid have little time to celebrate the victory though as they are back in action on Sunday when they play their second derby in four days, with Atletico the visitors to the Bernabeu. "Now what's important is to win on Sunday. We need to continue along this line and play like we've been doing," said Higuain, who was making his 100th league appearance for Madrid tonight. The Argentinian's brace also saw him equal his total of 22 league goals from last season which means he is now only three behind Barca playmaker Lionel Messi at the top of the La Liga scoring charts. "I'm always happy to score goals, and if these goals serve to help the team, then so much the better," Higuain added. Madrid had found life very difficult in their previous visits to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, picking up just four points from a possible 15, but they stunned Getafe with a breathtaking start. All four of Madrid's goals were scored in the opening 37 minutes while Esteban Granero, Sergio Ramos and Ronaldo went close to adding to the scoreline in that time. Getafe managed to pull a goal back through Dani Parejo in the 38th minute and another in the 79th minute thanks to Pedro Leon, but Madrid had already done enough to take the points. Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini said: "We picked up a good result at a ground that has not been good for us in the past and this has allowed us to remain as leaders. "After the break we lowered the intensity due to the derby (against Atletico) and to avoid cards." Pellegrini also criticised former Madrid man Parejo for playing on after Iker Casillas picked up an ankle injury in the lead-up to Getafe's first goal. Casillas chased the ball outside his area after failing to grab Jaime Gavilan's cross, and Parejo slid in to fairly rob the Spain goalkeeper of possession. The ball was picked up by Leon, who fed Parejo on the edge of the area and he fired into an unguarded net. Casillas was furious Getafe carried on after he was injured in Parejo's challenge, and Pellegrini felt the 20-year-old Getafe playmaker should not have played on. "I don't think any Getafe player will be proud of this action. I hope that my team won't do likewise in the same situation," Pellegrini added in AS.

  22. GETAFE 0-2 REAL MADRID Real Madrid dominated the match from start to finish and scored four goals before half-time. The Whites' tenth consecutive victory keeps them at the top of the table before the derby with Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid's first goal came from Cristiano Ronaldo, who yet again scored from a poweful free-kick, sending the ball through one of the top corners of the goal. The strike sealed a perfect first quarter of an hour in which Xabi Alonso acted as playmaker with Granero opening up the team's game by his side. With Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuain up front Real Madrid were unstoppable. The second goal came from a perfect effort started off by Gago and sealed by Higuain with a crossed shot (19’). And, as there is no rest for the wicked, the third came again from Higuain after he received the ball from Gago and dribbled past the goalkeeper, facing an empty goal alone. The leaders wanted more and Ronaldo stepped up, scoring an extraordinary strike following two step-overs from one of the sides of Getafe's box. The locals managed to net a strike before half-time in a controversial play - Parejo scored when Casillas was lying hurt on the ground. Getafe had no choice but to give it their best to try to make a comeback. Celestini and Manu came on to help the team react. Miku had the first chance in the second half, but his shot from a cross by Manu was off target (59’). Pedro Leon hit one of the posts just one minute later. Real Madrid had relaxed a little bit and Leon used that to score from inside the box on the 79-minute mark, but Getafe's final efforts weren't enough in the end and Real Madrid snatched a tenth consecutive win in La Liga that keeps them at the top of the table.
  23. Getafe vs Real Madrid Preview Gonzalo Higuain will hope to mark his 100th appearance for Real Madrid with a match-winning performance against Getafe. But recent history suggests the title-chasers may be in for an uncomfortable night at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Higuain took his tally to 20 goals in his last 17 league games during Madrid's 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Sunday, and he is just five behind fellow Argentinian Lionel Messi at the top of the Primera Division scoring charts. Messi has been earning widespread plaudits for his stunning form but Higuain has been going about his business quietly and effectively, and he is now only two shy of the 22-goal total he collected last season when he finished as Madrid's top scorer. The 22-year-old will bring up a century of appearances if he plays tomorrow, and he said: "I will try to enjoy the game. It's very important for us. We have to pick up the three points and we hope that's what happens. "My objective is to beat the number of goals I scored last year. I'm only two away, but aside from my personal aims, my main goal is to help the team. If we are champions and I score goals, then so much the better." Madrid make the short trip to the suburbs of the Spanish capital on the back of a nine-match winning streak and they could extend their lead at the summit to three points if they down Getafe and Barcelona lose at home to Osasuna tonight. However, if Madrid are to take full advantage of any slip by Barca they will need to improve on a miserable record at Getafe. In the five league meetings between the two at the Coliseum since Getafe were first promoted to the top flight in 2004, Madrid have suffered three defeats and recorded just one win - a 1-0 triumph in 2007. Last season's 3-1 loss at Getafe in December 2008 contributed to the dismissal of then Madrid coach Bernd Schuster, who lasted one more game - a 4-3 home defeat to Sevilla - before making way for Juande Ramos, and the current incumbent Manuel Pellegrini will be wary about suffering a similar fate. Despite his side's good domestic form, Pellegrini has found himself under pressure following Madrid's Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon, and with another derby against Atletico coming up at the weekend and then the huge showdown with Barca at the Bernabeu a fortnight later, he will be desperate for a good result tomorrow. Higuain, who scored both goals in a 2-0 home win over Getafe earlier this season, admitted: "We cannot allow ourselves to drop any points." Both Pellegrini and his Getafe counterpart Michel both have plenty of injury headaches heading into the match. For Madrid, Pepe, Karim Benzema, Kaka, Lassana Diarra, Mahamadou Diarra, Guti and Royston Drenthe were all struggling with various problems this week. Meanwhile, Getafe are without top scorer Roberto Soldado, plus defenders Cata Diaz and Miguel Torres, while Mario Alvarez and David Belenguer are injury doubts. Getafe forward Miku said in AS of tomorrow's game: "They (Madrid) are out of the Champions League and the Copa del Rey and this will make them 100% focused. As well as that, they have players who are used to pressure and solving difficult situations. "It's going to be difficult (for Getafe), but nothing more. This is sport. At the Bernabeu Getafe already took them on toe-to-toe and this is the intention tomorrow. We need to be very careful not to make any mistakes."
  24. Van der Vaart: Win at all costsReal Madrid's Rafael van der Vaart has declared his team will pull out all stops to wrest the La Liga title from Barcelona. Speaking to AS, the midfielder said: "We have the league title in sight and want to win it no matter what it takes." He, however, cautioned against placing too much emphasis on Real's April 11 clash with Barcelona. "The title doesn't just hinge on the Barça game," he said. "We have to win the other ten that are left as well. The Clasico will be just as important as last weekend's game against Sporting. The derby against Atletico is also going to be tough." Van der Vaart, who scored in Real's 3-1 weekend victory against Sporting Gijon also revealed his delight at playing a key role in the the team. "I love hearing that people want me to continue playing here. I want to stay on and help this team win titles. I returned home on Saturday with the noise of all the applause still ringing in my ears." "I can play well when I play frequently. I am playing often now, but I know I can improve," he concluded.

Higuain: The title goes through MadridGonzalo Higuain believes that El Clasico will decide the La Liga title, and warned Real Madrid not to lose points before then. The Los Merengues striker was speaking to the press ahead of his century of games for the club, a match against Getafe. "It is a source of great pride to have played 100 matches for a club as prestigious as Real Madrid. I hope to be able to enjoy it," Higuain told Marca. The Argentina international also added that April will be an important month for Real, and that "the Liga title goes through Madrid". Touching on the topic of his future, the hitman said talks of his contract extension was going smoothly, and said that his goal to better his scoring from last season is coming to fruition. "I only have two goals left," said Higuain, after finding the back of the net 22 times this season. Finally, Higuain revealed that he expected Lionel Messi to play at such a high level this season based on his observation of his fellow compatriot during international fixtures. "It will be a pleasure to play with him in La Seleccion," he added.
