Heidi Klum On Why She's Never Been To A Spa (In 60 Seconds) http://www.refinery2...-klum-interview Heidi Klum constantly has us asking one burning question: Just how does one woman manage to have her hands in umpteen pots, and still look so damn striking while doing it all? (Not to mention finding the time to plan that crazy Halloween costume every year!?) Well, here's one more venture to add to her ever-growing list of projects — the L.A. mom of four (her family's lived here for six years now) is now giving great face for Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, and had the chance to sit down and answer our age-old query! So, tell us what your favorite thing is about this new product? "I tried it and I really liked it. I liked how my hair felt, and I was sold! It really has a new and different approach than all the other shampoos and conditioners. It feeds the hair by treating the scalp in a straightforward method. I don’t think that any other product does that. That’s what intrigued me and got me involved. I definitely wanted to be a part of that." We know you're naturally very blessed, but what’s your sneakiest beauty trick? "I don’t really have any sneaky ones. I’ve been telling people about blotting paper because that’s something I love. Instead of staying dry by reapplying powder over powder and powder, you take the oil off. I think that’s a great trick that people forget about. I love the Clean & Clear Oil-Absorbing Sheets and Victoria’s Secret does a simple one. I don’t think you necessarily need to spend a crazy amount of money when it's basically just rice paper." Okay, you always look so put together. Have you ever had a beauty disaster that you'd care to share? "Probably over-bleaching — like when the person who was bleaching my hair didn’t pay attention or take enough time. She used too much peroxide and left it on too long. My hair broke, so I had a little pineapple on top of my hair for the longest time that was really difficult to get rid of. Basically, my hair really broke off, and I had two inches of hair in some places! That was hard because you have to constantly pat it and spray it down." Who are your favorite L.A. beauty maestros? "I would have to say the only one is Anastasia. I’ve known her since she started like 100 years ago. She was the person who made me grow my eyebrows back. When I first met her she told me, 'I cannot do anything. You have to grow, and then you can come back.' I think she gave me great shape again. When I started modeling, I was totally over-tweezed. I just had these thin little eyebrows. So, every once in awhile I go see her, and then I try to maintain the shape she gives me. I think she’s great!" Are there any spas that you love in SoCal? "I’ve never been to a spa." How interesting! We'd think you'd be all over a relaxing getaway considering how much you do... "I’ve had a few massages at my house, but I’m not really a spa person. I like getting my nails done, but I always have someone come to my house. I don’t like to go to those places where you put your hands and feet in a sink. I’m funny about that because I think you can catch so many things. Ha! Is it terrible that I feel that way? I feel guilty, too. I can’t tell my kids, 'Mommy’s going to the spa for the day. See you guys later.'" Since you don't go the luxe-spa route, do you have any beauty indulgences? "If I can sleep two hours longer than 6 a.m., that’s a beauty indulgence! Usually I get up at 6 a.m., so if I can sleep until 8 a.m., I feel amazing. And again, I feel a little guilty when I do." As a working mom, what are your go-to products when you’re making a mad dash out the door? "I just get dressed and sometimes I’ll put on a light foundation. I don't really 'dress-up' when I go anywhere. Maybe a little bit of eyebrow filler and mascara. But when the sun is on my skin, I want it to go directly on my skin, and not through all these layers of junk." We loved your au naturale beauty look at the Met gala — is this your overall M.O. these days? "Oh thank you! It was because of the highly designed dress and I had a lot of jewels. We make those decisions on the spot, and Linda and Michelle, whom I’ve been working with for many years, help me, too. It all depends on the dress. If it’s pretty simple, then I do a lot of eye makeup. Sometimes I even do a '60s eye, where I put on a lot of false eyelashes. But I think if you have a neck full of jewelry and a lot hair and makeup, that’s just too much."

Heidi Klum on Broken Toes and How to Wear Skintight Dresses “Extra” host Maria Menounos talked with Heidi Klum about how the supermodel broke her toe before attending the 2012 Costume Institute Gala… and her secret to arriving in a crease-free, skintight dress! “I hobbled along at the Met ball,” laughed Klum. “Pose, hobble, hobble, pose.” She explained she broke it at her daughter Leni’s birthday party. “There was kind of this weight on the bottom of the umbrella and clumsy old me ran right into it.” Heidi gives a very handy tip on how to keep your glamorous gown in pristine shape on the way to an event. “See, people don't know what happens or how you lay in the car getting there. I usually lay flat in the back of the limo -- or you have to go sideways.” As for juggling life with four small children, Klum said it isn’t always easy. “Especially in the morning when everyone wants something different. It’s not like pancakes for everyone; it’s Nutella bread for one and oatmeal for the other.” Her Mother’s Day plans? “We will probably be at home… nothing too crazy.” Maria chimed in, “Pancakes for everybody!” Heidi laughed, “Yes, it’s easy. Klum has also been tapped to help launch new Clear Scalp & Hair Beauy Therapy, a revolutionary line of nourishing shampoos and conditioners that turns the conventional hair care discussion on its head. This new approach "feeds scalp," not just the ends, and gives women stronger, more beautiful hair in just seven days. Heidi Klum: "I've Changed a Lot" http://www.eonline.com/news/marc_malkin/he...nged_lot/315331 Heidi Klum may have had some hard times this year but you certainly wouldn't know it by talking to her. It was just about a month ago that she filed for divorce after splitting in January from her husband of almost seven years, Seal. "I feel good," the single mom of four tells me. "I'm not complaining." In fact… Ms. Klum turns 39 on June 1. "I just posted on Facebook a video from when I was 18 and I won [the German televised modeling competion] Model 92," Klum said at the Mondrian Hotel while promoting her latest gig as the face of Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, a new line of shampoos and conditioners. "I've changed a lot. It's like, who is that person?" Wearing a short black Roland Mouret dress and a pair of killer Louboutins, Klum is more beautiful than ever. And, of course, her hair looked fab thanks to Clear. Klum insists she's looking forward to her 40s. "I think between 40 and 50, you just have to give it your all," she said. "You just have to do it all. You're still somewhat young. When you turn 50, that's when we're getting a little more settled, more quiet." Klum says that now. We can't wait to hear what she has to say when she turns the big 5-0. Klum laughed, "I'll probably be hanging from a chandelier."

Heidi Klum on Bad Haircuts, Posing Nude and More http://wonderwall.msn.com/tv/heidi-klum-in...w-19496.gallery Heidi Klum may be known as "The Body," but she's got a great head of hair, too. That's why new hair care brand Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy asked her to be their mane woman. Keep clicking as this supermodel mom chats about bad haircuts, making time for her kids, posing nude and more. Clear's shampoos and conditioners nourish the scalp, challenging the idea that we should just be treating the ends our hair. What's the biggest beauty misconception you've heard? The only thing people always say is, Don't eat chocolate because you break out and you get pimples. I mean, I never found that to be true. You've got gorgeous hair, but what's the worst haircut you've ever gotten? I always like to change it up. I also have always liked to go from bangs to really long to layers to bob. I think what most people weren't in love with was when I had the bowl cut. All of my friends were like, "Why did you get that haircut?" I liked it! I kind of wanted something different, and I was happy with it, but a lot of friends around me, they didn't love that one. I'm like, oh well, it's hair -- it grows. What's the best hair care tip you've gotten from a stylist? Most people think, Oh, I'm going to grow my hair out, I'm never going to cut it. In order to grow your hair, you do have to cut it a lot. It's important to always trim the ends. And even if it's just a tiny little bit, it helps the hair to grow so it doesn't break off at the end -- to keep it not only looking healthy but being healthy. So that definitely was a tip: to always cut the ends -- a little bit, a little bit, every six weeks. You recently posed nude for Allure's May issue. After modeling for so long, is there ever any awkwardness when you do shoots like that? For me, it's never awkward, to be honest. Sometimes I feel more awkward having strange clothes on that I don't know how to pose in. I don't have an issue with nudity or posing nude in front of the camera. I always hide "the bits," so to speak, so I never really showed everything. It's always done in an arty way, or I hide most of it so there's still room for the imagination. You looked gorgeous at the Met gala! How did you decide on your gown? Escada asked to design for me. They called me and asked me if I would go with them to the Met ball. So they sent me different drawings of colors and dresses, and they designed the dress for me. I think they did a fantastic job. I think it was actually way sexier and more interesting than normally what I think Escada stands for. Usually, they're very sophisticated but not as fashion-forward, and I thought that they did a great job with this dress. I liked it a lot. You're adding to your Wildlife QVC jewelry line. Can you tell us about the new collection? I'm actually going to be on QVC next week, next Wednesday and Thursday. I have a variety of many different things, from rings to bracelets. I'm going to be selling a lot of beautiful, bright color watches next week on the air, great necklaces. My pieces are all statement pieces. They're all quite big and bold. My motto is, I'm not here to blend in. So they're quite fun and sparkly and big. Somehow, we don't think that you blend in that easily. Oh, I can! Sometimes I do! But usually I try not to. But there are days when I want to just mingle within and not be obvious. I do that too sometimes, and it works. I went to the Coldplay show the other night, and I had a hoodie on and jeans, and I slipped right in and slipped right out. I had funny glasses on, those ones that light up in the night with a Christmas decoration on the glasses. They were selling them there. I was like, I'm gonna get myself a pair of those! I just had to have them. You're also launching a kids' clothing line, "Truly Scrumptious". How do you find time to design? When I shoot "Project Runway" or "Top Model," that's only for a few months. The rest of the year I have time to do designing and all of these ventures I do. Certain jobs that I do, they're a few days; others, I'm 100 percent involved in, like designing for Truly Scrumptious or my Wildlife collection. And like other women go to the office, I do it mostly in my home office, and so I get up and I get my kids ready and bring them to school, and then I go to my home office and then I start designing and working on things. That's so great that you can be so hands-on with your kids. Sometimes when I work in the studio, I can still drive them in the morning and then afterward go to the studio and still be there at 9 o'clock. Their school starts at 8:15 and I can still make it, so it works great. Or even when we shoot "Project Runway," it works out well because when the designers are sitting in the workroom designing, that's my day off -- I get to do things with the kids. We do different sightseeing in New York City, and the designers are working at Parsons, and the next day I go to work again and see what they've designed. So I'm kind of a schedule of one day on, one day off, or two days on, one day off, so it's a great schedule I have. With such a busy schedule, it must be hard to find downtime. What would you do if you got a week off to do whatever you wanted? I would just go and sit on a beach with [my kids] and watch them build sandcastles. If they had to go to school and I'd get time for myself, I could clean out my closet.

Heidi Klum on Hair Issues, Her Mother and Michelle Williams http://la.racked.com/archives/2012/05/10/h...le_williams.php After talking face-to-face with Heidi Klum yesterday for a good twenty minutes, we have to say that she seems incredibly nice, normal and down-to-earth. Which is pretty surprising, considering her immense fame. Klum and team had set up at the Mondrian to talk to LA press about the model and TV host's new gig as the face (and hair) of soon-to-launch Unilever hair care line Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy." The shampoos and conditioners, which drop in stores like Wal-Mart, Target and Walgreens May 14, are focused on nourishing your scalp to the benefit of your hair. We asked Klum a few ridiculous hair-focused questions and she humored us by revealing all sorts of details about her day-to-day life. You must get approached all the time about deals like this. What appealed to you about this product line? "Before I signed I asked to get the product. I tried it for about two weeks and I really liked the way my hair was responding. It became more beautiful and stronger. I also thought that their approach of feeding the scalp was very new. I never heard of that before. It totally made sense to me. I'm naturally a brunette and my hair is quite dry because it is bleached a lot and I feel that it improved that. It looks better." Aside from the dryness you mentioned, what are your biggest hair issues? "Well, once it was over bleached and it broke. I had two-inch breakage up here [gestures to right above her head]. It was hard because I had to keep spraying it down and kind of covering it. When that happens you have to deal with growing that out and it's difficult. It looks like you have very high layers." This product line is all about scalp maintenance. How do you make that topic seem sexy? "With the results, not with the part about washing it. At the end of the day we all probably wash our hair the same. When you have beautiful hair to show. I think that's why I never really cut my hair fully short even though I like it. I look at Michelle Williams and I think she is adorable. But would I ever have the guts to do that? No. I need [longer] hair to feel feminine and more sexy in a way. Sometimes I'm like, just chop it off! But I can't do it." There's been a movement over the past few years of people advocating less shampooing. How often do you shampoo? [Did we really just ask her that question?] "When I work I wash it always at the end of the day. I hate going to bed with sticky hairspray. If I don't work, then I leave it two days, sometimes three. But I think I work too much to leave it, and also my hair has gotten used to it. Some people, they do it once a week and it doesn't look one bit greasy. That doesn't work for me. I would look like I hadn't washed my hair in a month." Your mom was a hairdresser. Did she teach you any tricks and did she ever experiment on your hair? "She didn't teach me tricks, but I was a guinea pig on many different things. She did perms, highlights. She chopped it all in different layers and then she gave me a perm afterwards, so this [gestures to the sides of her head] all got really short and I had straight sideburns and then the back was slightly waved because, obviously the long hair didn't hold the perm as well as the rest so here [sides of head] was super poodle and here [back of the head] was like a slight wave. It was horrible. She did a few crazy numbers with my hair." Does your mom still tell you her opinions about your hair? "If we go to the hairdresser together which we've done in the past, if they don't do as blonde and bright as she wants, we would drive by a drugstore on the way home and she would get peroxide and she would do it at home, again. After we just spent a fortune. She always tells me, 'Go blonder! Go blonder!' She's addicted to having it really blonde." Totally off-topic: Can you give us any hints about this year's Halloween costume? "No!! Truly I cannot because I don't have an idea yet. I do it in June and July. Before, I don't even think about it. When we are filming Project Runway, which we do in June, July and August, between hair and makeup we start thinking about it. And the person that usually does my costumes, Martin Izquierdo, and I just come up with an idea. He comes on our lunch break because he has a studio close by and we brainstorm and start drawing things. And that's still early! Then he has a few months to build it. He has a whole team of great artists and it's all done by hand and they make it right there."

Heidi Klum On Bad Hair Days, The Pink Hair Trend And Her Mother's Beauty Advice http://www.stylelist.com/2012/05/10/heidi-..._n_1504060.html Heidi Klum is famous for many things -- "Project Runway" judge, legendary supermodel, and jewelry designer are just a few of her many titles. But haircare expert? That's a new bullet point for her growing resume. The natural brunette has been tapped as the face -- and hair -- of Clear Scalp and Hair Beauty Therapy. During our interview, Klum took one look at my wavy, ombre locks and said, "You must use the Damage and Color Repair shampoo and conditioner. I use it everyday and it works!" It would be silly to disobey Klum's orders, as her hair always manages to look shiny and healthy, even while running errands. Other than haircare advice, Klum revealed to Stylelist whether or not she'd let her daughters dye their hair pink, her weird, time-saving beauty trick and her plans for Mother's Day. You looked stunning at the Met Gala the other night. Any picks for best-dressed? There were a lot of interesting outfits there, right? But I loved Renée Zellweger, she looked very sophisticated. I also liked Gwyneth Paltrow and Emma Stone, they both looked cute. But there were a lot I didn't like. And I actual embrace people who push the envelope, but some of those looks didn't match their personalities. It's like, all of a sudden because it's a fashion ball, they dress completely different. How do you get ready for such an important evening? I was invited by Escada, and they created this custom-made lace dress, which for me, was very sophisticated. It wasn't what I would normally wear, it was a little bit quieter. But we definitely saw your personality come through with the accessories. Oh, yes! I called Lorraine Schwartz and was like, "Lorraine, I need lots of bling!" What's your favorite red carpet hairstyle? It depends on the dress. The dress always comes first. For example, if the dress is really sweet, I would wear a harder and more structured 'do. But sometimes, even before the dress, the jewelry comes first! At the Golden Globes, my Lorraine Schwartz necklace was first -- I asked Francisco Costa [of Calvin Klein] if he would do a dress for me around the necklace. He's a big wig, and most of time it doesn't work like that, so I thought that was very cool. How do you combat a bad hair day? Everybody has bad hair days. If it's really bad, I usually throw my hair into a bun or I wear a hat. But sometimes, I just don't care because the days of having your hair perfect are over. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, I don't even brush my hair. My trick is to wash my hair at night and fall asleep with my hair wet. Then I roll around in the pillow and I wake up and my hair looks perfectly messy. Pink is the hottest hair color trend at the moment, would you ever dye your hair pink? No, no way! It's an age thing -- if you're a model and 19 or 20 or doing a photo shoot, it's easy to pull off. It wouldn't be age-appropriate for me, it would look weird and people would think I lost my marbles! But I would let my daughters try it! How do you keep your hair looking healthy after lots of teasing and hairspray from photo shoots and events? I wash my hair everyday with Clear Damage and Color Repair shampoo and conditioner -- it makes my hair feel soft, but not limp. It's the same with makeup, too. Sometimes I see girls wearing the same false eyelashes from two days ago and I'm like, "What the heck is that?" I can't do that, I have to wash it all off. I also get my hair trimmed every six weeks to keep it looking healthy. What are your plans for Mother's Day? To just be with my kids. We go out a lot. We went to The Ivy just last week, and it's a lot with four kids. So sometimes it's nice to just be home and hang out by the pool. What's the best beauty advice you received from your mother growing up? My mom would never go out of the house without lipstick on. Me, I'm not like that. But she did teach me to age naturally and be happy.

From Teen Vogue: Heidi Klum on Designing Jewelry, Splurging for Spring, and Making It As A Model http://www.teenvogue.com/style/celebrity-i...vc-jewelry-line What inspired your jewelry collection? I love the freedom that this collection has given me in the creative process. I find inspiration everywhere, whether it's traveling, walking by a shop, or thumbing through a magazine. And I love flea markets. I like to buy a lot of really old jewelry and add new elements to the old pieces to give them a new life. One part of my spring collection was inspired by butterflies. I have always been inspired by butterflies! I have this amazing shadowbox with butterflies and insects in all different colors in my house. It's really old and was another great find from the flea market. All of the different butterflies and bugs have such great shapes and colors and you can find a lot of similar designs in my pieces. What's your first jewelry memory? I have always been into jewelry, from big plastic pieces I would buy to hand-me-downs from my mom or things I would find at the flea market. Not much has changed! We used to have this store in my town called Glasperlenspiel, where they had hundreds of different beads and tools and you could make your own jewelry. There were tables and chairs and people to help you to make your own pieces. I absolutely loved it and would spend most of my money there making all kinds of stuff. Do you dress around accessories, or the other way around? It depends on the occasion. For the Golden Globes this year, Lorraine Schwartz had made me a really beautiful necklace that was the real definition of a statement piece. Francisco Costa from Calvin Klein Collection created a really simple dress for me to help the necklace shine. When you're wearing a simple dress and a statement necklace or fun cocktail ring people will comment on the jewelry more than the clothing. I think it's fun to use jewelry to spice up an outfit! What's your all-time favorite piece of jewelry that you own? My absolute favorite piece of jewelry is a necklace I designed for myself that has these little disks with all of my kids' names on them. It's made out of yellow gold and their names are engraved in diamonds. What are your must-haves for spring? Wildlife by Heidi Klum Neon Rubber Sport Watch: Since I'm loving neon right now, I designed a line of fun and very functional neon watches that I'm launching in May. They look great paired with jeans and a t-shirt. And, you'll always be on time to meet up with your friends! Theodora & Callum Black Multi Tie Dye Escape Caftan: I've always loved their scarves and now they make these great caftans! They're perfect for summer! You can easily go from the beach to lunch with your girlfriends and right back to the beach or out for a casual dinner. We like things we can wear multiple ways, right! Newbark Claudia Flats: Sometimes, I just need to give my feet a break from the heels. These are the perfect go to shoes for Spring! I love the cool ankle ties and the brushed metallic leather. A fashion pop to a wardrobe staple. You design clothes, too—is that something you've always been interested in? I love designing. I always loved fashion and the more I worked in the business, the more I loved to create. Do you have any words of wisdom for girls who want to model? Becoming successful as a model depends on so many different things. Meeting the right people, being professional, being able to let loose, and growing a thick skin in order to handle all of the rejections are definitely all important.

Heidi Klum On Getting Wild, Too Much Sparkle, and Fashion's Funniest Designer http://www.fashionweekdaily.com/the-fix/ar...nd-getting-wild Is there a better way to spend an afternoon than nibbling shrimp sammies and playing dress-up with Heidi Klum? No way, Jose! Your Daily recently trekked to the Hudson Hotel where QVC hosted a petite luncheon to fete the latest assortment from Wildlife by Heidi Klum, an ultra-affordable jewelry line available exclusively on the constantly chicifying shopping channel. Intrigued, we caught up with the German supe post-party to get the lowdown on all things "wild." BY MARIA DENARDO What can your fans expect for Wildlife Spring 2012? Color and lots of neon! I wanted the collection to be bright and playful for spring. I used great corals, blues, and pinks, and even tied in nature as a theme with butterfly-inspired pieces. I love the neon rubber sport watches. They’re fashionable and functional and look really great dressed up or down. I wore the pink one with a printed tribal maxi dress the other day, and then wore the black one with a fun polka dot dress when I lit the Empire State Building. How do you typically like to design? I do all of my designing at home. I wake up early every Saturday morning to work on my jewelry designs. Most people would want to sleep in on a Saturday morning, but I look forward to this each week. You have to set aside some time to create when you have four kids. I collect inspiration for my designs from so many places: flea markets, my travels and even vintage jewelry. I’m German and I love sparkle and more sparkle, so sometimes I have to remember to tone it down a bit! Any hobbies we don’t know about? I really love creative activities—most of them center around the children now. We’re always doing some kind of fun craft project or cooking together. One thing most people don't know is that I go to bed really early. People don’t believe me, but when my kids are in bed by 8 p.m., so am I. What's your dream project? Designing was always my dream. I had actually been accepted to design school in Düsseldorf. Instead, modeling became a way that I could eventually pursue my dream. What's your "best side" when you're being photographed? Between Victoria’s Secret, Sports Illustrated, and all of my body paintings, I think I’ve showed every side... In the spirit of Wildlife jewelry, who's the wildest person you know? It might be Michael Kors. It's not because his clothes are crazy; he is one of the funniest people I know. Wildly funny things come out of his mouth, and I laugh until my face hurts. What wild antics are you not a fan of? I’m not a fan of being mean to just be mean. You have to be kind, or it'll come back to bite you. Do you have a wild side? If you’re asking, I guess it’s not that obvious! When was the last time you lived on the wild side? I went diving in the ocean with about 40 sharks swimming around me. I threw fish guts into the water, so they would all come close to the boat and then I jumped in! That's pretty much as wild as it gets after having four children. What’s your go-to mommy phrase when your kids are getting a little wild? "Dinner time!"
