Thanks tip2001, brazilianaffair and everyone else for keeping things going here! My computer is still down. I got it back but now it has to be completely reformatted - which I'm doing a little at a time (because my last backup is too big for my new hard drive! Always something!!! ) Anyway, here's something I just received... the cover, cover look and model page from Cosmopolitan May 1984 - I used my scanner and scanned it to my husband's computer, which I have to move to an external drive after I post so he won't divorce me for taking up space on his computer!

Yeh, I had just gotten an external drive for Christmas and was beginning to move some of my stuff there when it went down. Unfortunately, I was unable to do a backup after I moved the documents off, so when I re-load my last backup, I will have to re-delete all that stuff!!!! Arghhhh! The only thing I'm afraid of with an external drive is, what if something happens to that? I will no longer be backing up what I put on there, so, other than posting EVERYTHING I've ever scanned to BZ for safekeeping (and those who have been here a long time know that's not 100% secure either, as BZ has crashed, at least once that I know of)...how do I keep my external drive contents safe too?

Hi fender! Thanks for your kind sentiment. No, my computer is not yet fixed. It is currently in the shop (as of this morning). Seems my hard drive crashed-AGAIN...this is the second time in 5 months! Luckily, it looks like they will give me another new hard drive for free since it failed within 6 months. Apple told me today that it will take 1-3 days before it is ready and we have a HUGE snowstorm predicted to begin tomorrow afternoon and go through sometime on Wednesday. So, if we do get all that snow, I think I will have it back once I can get myself dug out. Sad thing is, I have to use my last back-up to load everything onto my computer once I get it back and I know I've done some things since that last back-up that will be lost and it may take me weeks to figure out what I've lost. Oh well...at least I do back-ups fairly regularly, so it shouldn't be THAT bad!

sorry I've been absent for a while. Thanks for keeping things going. My computer sort of "blew up" - it won't re-start properly and I have not had time to take it to Apple to see what's wrong. I can shut it down but when I go to turn it back on, it starts, I see an apple on my screen and the spinny thing that tells me the computer is thinking - then, that's it. I can wait two hours and that's all I get. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I am on my husband's computer right now (he just LOVES sharing!)...I did find one cool pic on the internet. It is apparently from a book called Liv by a Swedish photographer named Peter Farago. I tried to find more info on this book but I think it might have been published in Europe only because I can't find anything on it besides on his website and the information there is not all that helpful.
