A little bit of both actually, like Neo says. There are some side streets, particularly on the east side, where housing is affordable (rentals, like the one you saw), and there are much nicer houses (for sale only) further up on the hill (Los Feliz goes up the eastern flank of the Hollywood Hills, towards Griffith Park and Observatory). I also lived in the (west) Hollywood Hills a few years ago, and there too (and also in posh Brentwood where I live now) the L.A. tradition of mixing nice, ultra-nice, mega-nice and crappy homes (sometimes next to each other, though not too frequently) is alive and well. So Los Feliz IS a nice neighborhood, despite its proximity to east L.A., Glendale, downtown, etc. I think it is considered a Greek neighborhood, if I'm not mistaken (Neo?), much like Glendale is an Armenian town. To wrap up my dissertation (sorry!), I'd like to add that it is not surprising even someone as famous (now) as Eva Longoria lived in such an unimpressive house. Fortunes come and go (up and down) in show business (acting particularly), and lots of actors (and musicians) have more than modest housing accomodations while they strive to break in the business. Actors and musicians simply do not get paid as regally as most people assume (top tier excepted).

She's a sensual type of beauty. Not aesthetically perfect (her eyebrows and eyes are a little too collapsed), but very sultry indeed. Great model, of the brooding type at least.

I saw it; I thought it was going to be crap, but it turned out to be decent, in my view. The movie takes time to establish the characters, their mutational plight, their first heroic action(s), the ensuing confrontation with Doom... I thought it was well done, for a comic book adaptation. I thought it was far better than Spiderman and Daredevil put together (it was more entertaining; there's lots of tongue in cheek humor in the dialogues). Overall, a surprisingly pleasant movie experience (and I consider myself a tough audience - not that you would care, but I had to say it)!
  8. She's sooo much prettier when she smiles like that... ... makes you wonder why she doesn't flash her smile more often
  9. Sha, surfer, Hiro, derDude, you guys... My hat's off to you (Y)

Agreed. She's much prettier in person though, if you run into her in the street or at the restaurant. I was very surprised. She should ease up on the make-up, it ages her more than it helps conceal her wrinkles, I think.
  11. How lucky and unlucky can one get?

Correct. And there is no other. It's still a pleasant neighborhood, with little shops, restaurants and gasp! people walking around on the sidewalks.

Los Feliz is considered "trendy" in L.A. by realtors trying to sell you in on the neighborhood's undisputed charm. It's as close to an actual no-nonsense village/community type as you'll find in L.A. (particularly this far "east" on the map). As to the house, well, there are thousands like this in L.A. (don't think it's all Bubbly Hills around here)!

Yes. And in all fairness, I don't think Natalie was trying to be offensive, you know? I mean, I just read the post, and it certainly didn't come across to me like that. In fact, I get the opposite reaction quite often: people think I'm Indian because of my darker (than usual white) skin and light eyes. I've had people come up to me (in New York, where I lived for 7 years, or even in Singapore, where I lived for 6 months) and assume I'm Indian, and speak to me in Hindi, Urdu... and forget about going to India (I've been three times)! People looked at me funny when I spoke English, or request an English language menu at the restaurant. One guy from Northern India even told me he thought I was his cousin, so much like him I look! And I had a cab driver in New York lecture me on how I "shouldn't be ashamed of (my) roots" when I insisted I was not Indian (he insisted I was)! Blue eyes, brown eyes, blue skin, brown skin, round eyes, slanted eyes, it's all good I actually think Natalie should be praised for being curious as to the origin of light eyes in the sub-continent, not reprimanded. Most people (here in the US in general, and just as much in L.A. where I've lived for several years now) would not give a damn. Anyways, all this to say, my hat's off to you, Natalie

Thanks! There is some overlap with your posts, but there'd be too much sorting to be done, so I put it all up
