ycljewels.com 1. Who are you & what are you most excited about at the moment? My name is Rae Rodriguez and I'm 20 years old and from Puerto Rico. I'm currently finishing a bachelor in marine science on the Gold Coast. I'm most excited about moving to Sydney and then the USA next year to continue my modelling career in LA and New York. 2. What's your most treasures piece of jewellery & what story does it hold? My most treasured piece of jewellery would have to be a necklace my boyfriend gave me. It's a gold chain with an aquamarine charm. It's not something I wear everyday, but something I wear when I want strength to carry on through my studies. It can be really easy to get distracted with modelling work and that necklace reminds me of the confidence he has in me to get through my education. 3. What's the best advice that you've ever received? The best advice I've ever received would be to know my limits. I always want to push myself - to work out harder, study further, and just generally do more than I am doing. This isn't always a realistic goal and is definitely not healthy! I overworked myself in my first semester at university and even if my grades were great, I was constantly stressed and malnourished as a result. It's still important to be ambitious and make good changes to your lifestyle, but not to a point where you're hindering any results you want to achieve. 4. What do you do / wear / seek out that makes you feel like the truest version of yourself? I feel like I'm the truest version of myself not when I'm free of stress and on holiday or something like that - but actually when I'm in the midst of my work. I live for the weeks when I'm juggling multiple shoots and hectic school deadlines. 5. What are you reading or listening to at the moment? At the moment I'm reading a classic book called '20,000 leagues under the sea' by Jules Verne. It's a book I've read before and I love it because of all the adventures that go on through their journey.
