That's what I was thinking. This could go either way especially knowing VS, however I also read that the runways will intertwine at one segment? maybe the "Punk Angels" perhaps? 

So im not gonna completely disregard this idea since VS needs something fresh and also....TAYLOR SWIFT WILL STAY IN HER LANE AND NOT GET IN THE WAY OF THE MODELS

So apparently, every segment will use a different runway. So say the opening segment (for example) will use the middle runway and it'll be more high rise and the second segment and so forth will use the other runways with models walking opposite of each other. This is very unique and interesting but also needs to be executed very well before it becomes a disaster.

Hispanics can be white (see Argentinians) (again not nice to call people names). Hispanics can be black (see Dominicans) and Hispanics can be Asian (see Chinese Cubans or Japanese Peruvians). Their race could be whatever, Hispanic just means Spanish-speaking.

The part that makes me laugh the hardest is by using your descriptions you are completely removing Latin America and Hispanic people as an overall from the race category and just lumping them in as white. Or are they Asian?

Not missing a couple, there are only three scientifically classified human race classifications and any other group is considered a subset of one of those three races. And no...those terms are completely outdated and no one uses them anymore outside of the anthropology field. 

How am I discriminating? I'm saying those shitty filler models who just happen to be white are terrible models, get with the program honey. Just as Zuri Tibby who I think is not really a good model just happens to be black. Not everything is about you, take several seats and move on.

although I do agree race is social construct invented by white Europeans, technically there are three scientifically classified races: caucasoid (white), negroid (black) and mongoloid (Asian)

However look at London and Paris. They didn’t cast an astronomical amount of English or French models. 

 

And because I have been asked not to say anything in regards to the racist comments from earlier I won’t other then to acknowledge that they were racist and completely unnecessary. 

Other than Lily Aldridge who has dual British and American citizenship, Lily Donaldson, Jourdan Dunn and Cara D who was supposed to walk that year as well but chose not to, there were and are pretty much no other famous well-known household name British models compared to back then. Those models were the most popular representatives of their country and thus walked the show of course. Also, there aren't that many well-known French models either other than Cindy Bruna and Constance Jablonski (who didn't walk bc of her contract with Etam) who are the most famous models in France. I can't literally think of any other French model who went to castings for last year's show to begin with. Anais Mali went as well but oddly got rejected and isn't as well known as Cindy.

I'm excluding Brazilian Latina models because of VS's preferred treatment for them since the 90s and I'm very well aware Latina/Latino isn't a race. I'm talking about Spanish-speaking Latina models ex. Daniela Lopez or Arlenis Sosa who gets overlooked every single year she goes to castings etc

what do you guys think of this year's runway?? I know that they said it'll be a runway we've never seen before but three runways that rise and fall? That sounds so dangerous, I wonder how they'll execute it 

also it's safe to assume we will get the LED runway(s) this year instead of the glitter which I really don't mind tbh.

I don't pay attention to what others say, nor do I care about what's going on in the modeling world to be honest. The models are simply nothing more than a nice thing to look at via pictures, or video, and the outfits on the runway are hilarious often times and who doesn't want a free lol. What you think are mediocre white filler models is just silly because at the end of the day they're all just models, not black, not white, not brown, not pink, not yellow, not rainbow. I don't like to look at things as black and white because the last thing we need in this world is more division between people.  To each his own I guess.

 

Black models or models of color like Asian models or Latina models will never have the same opportunities as white models. To say that the industry is only looking for their "bodies" is simple bullshit because how many white models are shaped like a damn box with ugly masculine features and still get casted and get so many campaigns and covers over gorgeous models of color? Just bullshit. 

no one is getting upset, I'm stating MY opinion on the FASHION industry in a FASHION forum, so it's definitely the best way to go about it.

I just wanna say, VS messed up big time for not casting Shu Pei for the show. Regardless of reasons like whether she didn't fit the clients' needs or that her walk/body wasn't on point, VS really ought to have let her, Chong He & Luping walk. 

 

They're using her to promote RttR and I'd imagine if it weren't for her, the search wouldn't be as impactful anyway. Depending on Ming alone definitely isn't influential enough and Shu Pei was there at the right moment to save the search. Shame on VS really, and they even used her casting recording. I know she probably gets paid for the show itself, but a bigger much more meaningful thanks would be letting her walk the show, IN HER MOTHERLAND. 

 

I honestly don't mind seeing a few less Caucasian faces for a few more Asians. And I'm not going to say exclude black models because the show is expanding to South Africa next year I suppose. 

Agreed! I honestly thought Shu got casted this year especially considering this year's location...I would've expected at least 10-15 Asian (not just Chinese) models walking, but we only have 7 models (including the model search winner and Estelle Chen who is Chinese but of French nationality). That's ridiculous! 

It's so funny how some of you like to pretend that race doesn't play a HUGE fucking part in the fashion and modeling industry when that's all black models and Asian models have been outspoken about since the very foundation of their careers, being denied jobs and shows and stylists refusing to do their hair or makeup simply because of their race. So I'll stop bringing "race" into it when you stop saying "we already have one black/Asian girl, you can go home. We don't need you." 

*sidnote, nonetheless I'm very satisfied this will be the most diverse VS Fashion Show yet, so the filler models will literally just mend into the background like usual and get overshadowed by the Angels and better models in general like every year  lmaooo

I guess I'm questioning what happened to  we are all human beings, regardless of race, creed or color? Guess that doesn't apply to all people because there are those who just want to have their cake and eat it too. 

Well clearly that's not the case because with the exception of Zuri Tibby (who is OK), literally all the models of color casted this year have better walks, personalities and overall better appeal than the mediocre filler models  which is why, other than the Angels, they're the ones always trending on social media every year so "let them eat cake" honey.

Yea I understand you toatally. But..a quick glance through this forum will tell you otherwise that even after that terrible experience, I still continued to be a fan and like her. Not once have I ever insulted her or wished ill on her. In fact, I would love if she got the FB or openend the show this year because despite her personality, she's a still a hard worker and bombshell. I wouldn't write an essay on a made up bad experience with an Angel/model that I actually adore despite the circumstances. But I see where you're coming from, I remember someone making up this story about Doutzen being a racist while on holiday with her husband to Aruba I believe, it was along the lines of her calling female employees the n-word and laughing about it. The story ended up being fake and was made up by a Behati fan after a black Doutzen fan called Bee a "plain jain"...

It was in LA during the unveiling of the VS body care and fragrance line in July I believe. My little sister then went on to tell her how much she loves her and how beautiful she is and said a simple "thanks." and fastly handed her the autograph, while looking back to see how many people were left next in line. When we all got ours signed and the store was closing, she left from the back and was all giggle and smiles talking to some man part of her entourage...so looking back, she definitely wasn't tired.

I had a very bad experiencing meeting Candice in 2011 and it really changed my perspective of her since I thought she was beautiful inside and out but her personality was nasty and stuck-uppish... I see people mentioning the eye-rolling and that's exactly what she does, not even being subtle or caring for those around her or who will see, total lack of disregard for her fans...but I gave her the benefit of the doubt considering how tired she must've been that night  nice to know she's actually a bitch. So she's off my list. 

I read from many people that met Gisele or that know people that have worked with her that said she is actually a huge sweetheart and extremely down to earth. She's also very sweet and patient with crew members, hairdressers, stylists, makeup artists and doesn't treat them like they're below her. I'll find the link. 

Could we be getting double fantasy bras again this year?  I love Candice but if Elsa has the FB this year, I wouldn't want her to share that special moment with another Angel...especially since it [might] be her first FB. That would really suck but I think both of them opening a segement with a double FB would be I C O N I C. I can't complain at all  

but part of me also thinks that the double FB is special and should've only been for Adri and Ale considering they're the OGs and most senior and hardworking Angels...

If I had to pick now, I'd choose Lais, Jasmine, Sara, Elsa, and (arguably) Martha to stay. I'm on the fence (leaning to dislike) about Taylor & Stella still, and sometimes think Romee hasn't quite proven herself. She's attractive, she's just inconsistent. Some days I like her and some days I don't, but I definitely don't like her "fake" boobs. Romee caught my attention earlier on because I thought she had a very good runway pose and wink, but now she feels so basic to me, not in the way of Lindsay Ellingson of course. 

 

I don't like Sara either, but I'm fine with her staying with because she's proven herself. 

 

p/s: Lindsay was great though. She seemed like a goody two shoes angels and I like that. I have not heard nor read any bad stuffs about her, her personality is pleasant. And I always wondered why she left. In her years as an angel, her HF career was meh, and her angel fame was also meh. I don't know why. Maybe VS just couldn't make her work?

Lais has been with VS since 2010, what do you mean 2 years before she became an Angel in 2014? Unless I misunderstood. Out of all the New Angels, she's prob the most deserving of the FB if it goes by seniority (which sadly it doesn't). 

Also, Karlie became an Angel in her FIRST show in 2011, NOT 2013. She left in 2014 to attend NYU.
