So that money wasn’t exactly wasted, then.

But he has been left counting the cost of their ‘wasted’ private education. Roddy and his ex-wife, the architect Sophie Hicks, sent Burberry model Edie, 24, to St Paul’s Girls’ School, whose fees are £20,874 per year, and Mulberry mannequin Olympia, 18, to City of London School for Girls, which charges £14,976. The total cost of their education is estimated at £250,000. ‘Daughter number two following daughter number one down the career path,’ Roddy moans, joking that he doesn’t know ‘why I spent so much on educating them, really’. Clearly the genial old buffer takes the view, ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’, as he appeared in an advert for French fashion house Lanvin with his daughters last year.
