Jimi Hendrix
could u pm some of that stuff? id like to hear also i dont know if all thats true, especially the whole theory than feel. i suppose in somecases u can feel that way, but its hard to generalize that. the hole topic, can u express yourself if your concentrating on chord changes, i think yea... its easy if you know your way around the fret board. Do i think rock tunes express themselves also? of course, im a huge SRV fan, and to me hes the most expressive player ive heard. but saying jazzers worry about chord changes moreso then being expressive?.... i dont think so, but those r the jazzers ive heard, but yea please send me your santana and deep purple stuff, im a huge santana fan

"Jazz musicians (i know, because i'm one of them) tend to find their way around their song based on the chord changes going on around them and stick with licks they have already learned" A good jazz player doesnt rely on licks, but on the mood of the rhythem section and w/e hes felt. sure you would have to worry about chord changes, and what not, but still doesnt cut back from the emotions they try to express. Jazz is far from lick bassed, although, some jazzers just play licks, but the good players dont need licks, just a good rhythem section... Miles. now im not saying every jazz artist dont use licks at all, they use some, but dont rely on them all the time like you might claim i think this is a healthy discussion

hmmm you find it hard to take me seriously because i dont write out complete sentences? the reason it doesnt make sense is because u didnt understand the sentence b4 then? i wanted to emphisize the fact that im torn on the hole issue myself, considering i love SRV and the emotion he puts into every note he plays, and sticks to these 1 key songs. As for putting up Hendrix vrs Metheny? lol that would be a cool scene, as for rock guitar players putting more emotion then jazz guitarists, i dont no, i suppose u have to like jazz alot to get the emotion out of it I find it hard to take you seriously "And i can, because i am amazing", sound so full of yourself... im sure there are plenty guitar players on this forum, me being one, who doesnt care if you can play some hendrix tune, so can 50 other million kids who start off guitar and play Purple haze.... Little wing is where its at, although all along the watch tower was a good dylan cover which is one i can honestly say i like the cover more then the original. Hendrix isnt bad, Hendrix is just overrated.

jazz days = when it was popular , but was overruled by 3 chord songs. NO jazz hasent stopped, but its popularity has Boring playing more then one key change?... ok w/e u say I consider it boring playing 1, so repeitive, so blah, so ah who knows, i cant talk much i like SRV Jazz musicians have free time? maybes its because they are dedicated to making quality music.... Hendrix = overrated

Nirvana
my opinoin, if u all care, which i know no one does, im a harsh critic I used to like nirvana, alot. i started playing guitar, and stopped liking them and realized how over rated they are, and how over rated KURT is. i dont see how some say hes a great songwriter, now that title needs to go to dylan..... not KURT, ive read his biography, it was a decent read, but really, people who think kurt didnt shoot himself, get over it. hes dead, y does it matter, he wanted to be dead anyway.... In utero was a decent album, Nevermind was commercialy sucessful, and it sucked..... Kids dedicate their lives to Kurt Cobain, all i can say, id pick a different role model.... Kurt shouldnt be inducted into the great songwriter category..... as for what nirvana did for rock?.... what about alice in chains, the 1 band who didnt recieve ne credit for nething.... because of nirvana Alice in chains should be the ones u kids should worship

Jazz
i love jazz, i am studying jazz right now. i play guitar, and love herbie handcock, thelonius monk, miles, pat metheny, john mcgualing, AL DIMEOLA, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubek. i havent really gotten into much fusion, i like the pure forms of jazz, like miles b4 his fusion kicks, i am really into swing, and its the reason i got into jazz. I love the drumming style of swing, and balads and latin tunes and everything lol. Tony Williams . I like pat martino also. i just love improvisation, how meaningful it is, key example i think EVERYONE should listen to is on the old miles album Four & More, Walkin, shows straight up emotion and pure greatness. the whole album is great with My funny valentine being the first part of the concert.... but yes JAZZ!! its where its at.

Santana
most of the songs that are popular now are written by pop artists then he solos over them, maybe thats y it seems y his writting isnt as good who knows though, i still think his solos r still getting better lol, much more lyrical then just playing fast
-
The Beatles
blues is yes a 1-4-5 progession lol yes 3 chords, but it involved soul , spirited solos, and yes miles improvs over 3 chords in a tunes A section . but thats when music actually ment more then just, "WORDS" or "lyrics" because apparently people cant relate to music without words, when really, all people talk about is their harsh break ups and skateboarding, im sorry but Miles solos r much more inspiring and indeed ment more then ne beatles tune.... Ps ill keep saying i like the beatles lol..

Alizee
well alizee is my #1 for the past year and adriana is a close2 reasons, her smile, her eyes, her hair, her body, her voice is very soothing but the songs i agree r popish and kindacrappy but her voice is very suductive nonetheless, and yes she looks young in some of those pictures because they were taken when she was like 16, i can post a picture of some more recent pictures (minus the pregnant ones) i mean god look at her face, is so .... i dont no, just great, maybe im obsessed lol
-
The Beatles
i do agree, they inspired more bands then probally any other band... still i think it got society into accepting this 3 chord crap. Good Charlotte, or ne pop punk band, or ne punk in genral.... how do people listen to it, its so meaning less, so boring, so bah.... im sorry but i think the beatles did scar music PS i do still like the beatles lol

Santana
YAY< MY FAV GUITAR PLAYER EVER (as of this month, they usually change lol ) Santana is so underrated, his early stuff is amazing, not to mention his pop stuff I think with all these musicians coming back like u2 and metallica etc, they all ended up sucking. Santana is getting better with the years. his style his writing , sure the people he plays with make it pop , but his playing is more spiritual and lyrical, its great to see somebody on the radio who is actually legit unlike all this crappy no talent music. Santana = Lyrcisist with his guitar playing, and thats one thing most guitar players cant do, or even think about doing, poeple think its all about playing fast (which santana can do too) but its about putting ur heart into it, and u can tell his playing actually means something THANKS FOR THE SANTANA THREAD, (ps if u dont like santanas new stuff, atleast give his old stuff a try although i think hes gotten better over the years lol ) YAYY!!! SANTANA

The Beatles
(this is all my opinion lol) as Much as i love the beatles i really think they were responsible for lowering the standerds of music. their simple pop songs pretty much whipped out jazz and all the music people used to listen to. People started to appreciate this "simple 3 chord music" and stopped listening jazz. The beatles even affected todays music... still not much has changed from the beatles if u look at it. i talk to people to day and say, good charlotte or some other crappy band today has outstanding musicans in them.... im not saying music has to be talented to be good, hell i listen to bob dylan , and the beatles. its just if u look what they started... it was almost liek a monster that still lives today All in all the beatles are a huge legend that will live forever in music Ps. i do like the beatles

The Greatest Rock 'N' Roll Guitarist
i think hes over rated, but then again i dont really like a whole lot of 80s rock, lol mind ya, its only my opinion, not a fan of GnR or slash really

Favourite Music Genre
ah a hard core fusion group lol, not that its bad, my personal fav recording of miles is on Four & More Track 2 Walkin, so much emotion, so much attitude, so much... of everything.... o man the whole 1964 concert is great, but that one just sticks out balls to the wall blowing... its great... highly recomend it
