Interview with OTS Magazine

https://www.otsmagazine.com/2022/09/ElinorFriesen.html

Today we are very excited to present to you Germany-based muse and model Ellinor Friesen.

In this mini-interview, Elinor shares her insight on how she learned to use her passion for modeling as a form of expression, how her modeling journey began, and how she sees the world moving forward.

Hi Ellinor, Please fully tell us about yourself and your background.
I’m Ellinor and I’m 19 years old. I grew up in Speyer Germany. I always enjoyed doing a lot of different sports, like tennis, boxing, and dancing. I've finished school and now I’m going to do a gap year. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always dreamt about being a model. I fell in love with it right after my first shooting. Since September 2021 I have now been signed with a modeling agency- Eastwestmodels in Frankfurt.
How and when did you discover you had a passion for modeling?
I discovered my passion for modeling when I was about 11 years old. My sister, cousin, and I used to watch Germany's next top model, we flipped through magazines and then imagined what it was like to be a model. Then we met to take pictures using an old digital camera. We also took the high heels from our mothers and practiced walking with the shoes like a fashion model. It was fun since the first time we tried it. This is how the whole thing developed for me and awakened my passion for modeling.
In your own words please describe your style as a model?
I can’t say that I have a specific style as a model. I think I’m always just trying out new things and still on a path of finding whatever suits me the best. I also think that it’s important to stay open to change and try out new things as well.
Do you remember your first experience in front of the Camera?
Yes, I can still remember my first photo shoot. I was messaged by a hobby photographer on Instagram when I was 15 years old. Then I ran to my mother and told her everything because I was so happy. When we were at the shooting I was a bit nervous, but when it started the nervousness went away and it was just fun.
How big a role does modeling play in your life?
I would like modeling to be a full time job for me because I always wanted to have a job that I enjoy, so modeling plays a big role for me.
Who or what is your biggest motivation in life?
I get my motivation from several people who inspire me. I just have to ask myself the question, if not now, then when. I mean we only live once so we should cherish and use that.

What advice would you offer to other aspiring models who wish to set their own style and not be like everyone else?
I would tell them to stay true to themselves, and never let anybody change their style and tell them they have to be or look a certain way just to fit into a box. Be yourself always and don't change for anyone.
If you could change one thing about the fashion and modeling industry, what would it be? What would you improve?
If I could change something about the fashion industry it would definitely be the aspect of sustainability because far too much clothing is produced and far too much clothing is thrown away. Unfortunately, the working conditions in many countries where fast fashion is produced are also very bad. I would change that too. In my opinion, there should also be a lot more diversity in the modeling industry, which is fortunately becoming more and more open over time.
What is the most challenging part of being a model?
Model life can become very stressful. For example at fashion week. Combining the appointments for shootings with everyday life was often difficult for me, especially when I was at school.
What are some of the biggest hurdles you have faced as a model and how did you overcome them?
There are hurdles I have to face every day as a model. Like paying attention to my diet, staying in shape, and overcoming societal pressure.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
To be honest, I don't compare myself to the other models. Not because I think I'm the best or the most beautiful but because I know that every model is different. And that is exactly what is special about each model, it is individual and beautiful in their own way.

What’s your most memorable shoot?
What I will definitely never forget was a video shoot for a cosmetic brand. I got five buckets of pink wall paint and I was allowed to pour them onto a nice white car. I had a lot of fun. I mean when do you get the chance to douse a nice white car with pink paint?
Lol, That would have been so satisfying to watch.
Elinor, what do you consider your biggest professional success so far?

I had the privilege of being part of Pomelo+Co's "be bold" campaign last year. It was a huge production with a lot of people who were all super nice. That was a lot of fun and also seeing the results was amazing I felt proud of myself.
Becoming a model really introduces one major condition into your life which is “Consistency”, Do you think this theory is accurate or not?
For me, modeling is a lifestyle. if you want to be a famous model and set yourself goals, with ambition and perseverance you will achieve them much faster. if you consistently work on your dreams you will reach your goal.

Is there any brand you would love to model for?
I would definitely like to work for Vogue, Chanel, Adidas, Nivea, Mac Cosmetics, and many other amazing brands.
This is a question I always love to ask my Queens during interviews what does the word “Women Empowerment “mean to you?  And how does it help women?
I definitely think woman’s empowerment is an important Subject. Everybody should be treated equally in every situation. There, is still much to be done in the future, but I think we are on a good path and eventually, everybody will hopefully be treated the same.
How do you build good working relationships with other models?
All the models I met were really nice and I got along well with them straight away. If there are any disagreements it is important to communicate and clarify them. Especially when you have to work as a team in front of the camera it is very important to communicate. The more often I meet the girls, the more we get to know each other and form one or the other friendship.

What are your latest and upcoming projects?
After my gap year, I would definitely like to do on-stay trips abroad to model there. It is not yet clear in which country I will be staying. However, I am excited and am already looking forward to it.
What are you doing when you are not working?
I do something with my friends or family and do a lot of sports.
What is your beauty regimen and how do you stay in shape?
I try to eat healthily, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly.
Any last words you’d like to add?
Thank you for the interview, it was a pleasure.
