I know that there has previously been a discussion on the Fashion Spot about this, but I scoured Bellazon and couldn't find anything of similar nature. I wanted to hear from some users on her about their thoughts pertaining to the rankings on models.com, as I don't agree with some of them and was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts about them. 

 

Perhaps, we could create our own ranking system and curate a more updated and concise arrangement? 

 

Here are the rankings, as of December of 2017. Attached with each are the descriptions and requirements that models.com used to determine their sorting. 

 

LEGENDS

Every so often a model comes along who stands the test of time and leaves a lasting impression on the industry as a whole. With storied careers that hit every high note and reputations for professionalism and excellence these women are the standard by which other models are judged. More often than not their career trajectories push them outside the world of fashion and into television, film, entrepreneurship and philanthropy, transforming them into household names and even corporate entities. 

More than anything it is longevity and widespread recognition that puts the legends in their own league. Some of the criteria we evaluate for this list include the following:
- At least 15 recent years of high profile work with top magazines, photographers and brands.
- Media presence outside of the fashion industry and widespread name recognition.
- Recent work that is considered iconic in nature i.e.. campaigns, covers & television commercials. 
- Must have had at least one long term contract with fashion or beauty brand preferably within the last 10 years.

There is an interesting device you can use to get an estimate on a model's money girl status. You take a list of the highest paying clients in fashion, weigh the going rates these clients pay for their contracts and then apply it against the body of models employed by those clients. 

Who are the power clients? They are brands like Victoria's Secret, cosmetics giants like Estee Lauder & Lancome, as well as the many fragrance contracts and endorsement deals. Or the rare case of a clothing company (like Calvin Klein) willing to pay a model a high-six figure sum.
