Sergio Ramos will be available to Chelsea or Manchester City at the end of the season after fall-outs with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Both Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini have worked with Ramos before at Madrid and both want to sign a new central defender in the summer.

Ramos fell out with Mourinho in Spain but away from the soap opera environment of Madrid, Mourinho believes the two could work together.

And although Pellegrini prefers Real Madrid’s Portuguese defender Pepe it looks like being his Spain international team-mate who will be available at the end of the season.

Ramos was sent off for the 17th time in his Real Madrid career this week and Spanish television cameras picked up on coach Ancelotti making his feeling known as the player left the pitch.

“Te come la espalda” he shouted – a Spanish phrase translating as ‘he ate your back’ and meaning ‘you allowed him to get in behind you’.

Ramos had been caught the wrong side of Galatasaray forward Umut Bulut and brought him down as he was through on goal.

Ancelotti sees Ramos as his third centre back this season favouring Pepe and the currently injured 20-year-old French defender Raphael Varane in the centre of his defence.

He has looked to find a place for Ramos elsewhere playing him at right-back and even in central midfield in the Clasico. The player sees himself as a central defender is unhappy he is not being played in the position he occupies for Spain.

World Cup winner Ramos partnered Gerard Pique in last years European Championship win and could even team up with Pique for Barcelona.

But for Real Madrid to sanction the switch to the Camp Nou Barça would have to pay 55m pounds. Ramos would be available to a Premier League suitor for less money.

Before his problems this season with coach Ancelotti Ramos fell out with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in the summer.

The signing of Gareth Bale has prompted the 27-year-old to ask for a pay-rise but Perez has so far been reluctant to deliver.

Ramos earns around €5million net and Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reported this week that the player and president have not spoken since the breakdown of new contract talks back in August.

Real Madrid players were presented with their new club Audis on Thursday and Ramos could be seen avoiding all contact with Perez.

Despite the horrendous card count making him the player sent off more times than anyone in Real Madrid’s history, Ramos is a hero in the capital and in the country having been an important part of the Spain team that has won back-to-back Euros and a World Cup.

Ancelotti criticised Ramos after the game but insisted on Friday there was 'no problem' between the pair and he would play against Valladolid.

'It was simply a tactical discussion after the match,' he said. 'I think he made a mistake but that doesn't change anything. Making a mistake on the pitch is normal and it is important to understand why.

'Sergio Ramos is a very important player for this team and everyone knows that. He is fine, he has no problem, he will play tomorrow and hopefully will play well.'
