Prettyphile Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Brianne Howey (“Scream Queens”) has signed on for a series regular role in Fox drama pilot “The Exorcist,” a modern reinvention inspired by William Blatty’s 1971 book, Deadline reports. Written by Fantastic Four and Lazarus Effect‘s Jeremy Slater, “ ‘The Exorcist’ is described as a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.” Howey will play Charlotte, a former ballet dancer, once the golden child, she has not been the same since her terrible accident. Now depressed and anti-social, she’s closed off and guarded. So much so that her mother has begun to believe she might be influenced by a demon, though the thought would make Charlotte laugh. This sounds as if she’s taking on the Regan MacNeil role, played by Linda Blair in the 1973 The Exorcist directed by William Friedkin. The Exorcist was frightening because of the age of Blair, but we can’t expect network to crucify a child on Nation television. Right? I have a lot of faith in Slater, so we’ll see how this one pans out Quote
