November 6, 20168 yr PARIS FASHION WEEK - SPRING 2014 Backstage at Louis Vuitton from Refinery29, 16 September 2015 "I think that the most memorable and absurd story is still when I opened Marc Jacobs’ final show for Louis Vuitton wearing nothing but body paint and a very large headpiece. The show was at 10 a.m. and I arrived - having not slept - at 3 a.m. to begin the painting process. It took seven hours with 15 pairs of hands working on me. They’d flown an artist in from Miami to paint the words ‘Louis Vuitton’ across my body in the Stephen Sprouse font, but he could not handle the pressure and kept spelling it wrong and losing the plot. Eventually, I think he might have just done a runner. "I was exhausted. I had to be held up by four of Pat McGrath’s assistants so that I could sleep whilst standing and they continued to paint me. It was quite a process. And then eventually, I had to walk out naked in front of thousands of people and have my photograph taken, in the full knowledge that the images would be beamed across the world within seconds. I mean...It's never a boring job." NUDITY Hide contents

November 6, 20168 yr LOUIS VUITTON 'SPIRIT OF TRAVEL' - SPRING 2014 Photographer: Peter Lindbergh Styling: Carine Roitfeld Hair: Sam McKnight Makeup: Stephane Marais Models: Edie Campbell, Karen Elson Wild animals are curious about fashion, too. Interested parties during Louis Vuitton’s latest advertising shoot included giraffes and lion cubs, who trailed models Karen Elson and Edie Campbell as they explored the arid landscapes of South Africa for photographer Peter Lindbergh. “It’s a mix of travel and the fashion world,” said Frédéric Winckler, Vuitton’s communications and events director, noting that Elson and Campbell donned looks from Vuitton’s resort and spring runway collections. The fancy threads didn’t stop these daring women travelers from interacting with creatures. In one shot, Elson reaches out to offer a giraffe some leaves; in another, Campbell, a skilled horseback rider, sits astride a zebra. Winckler noted that none of the photos were manipulated, meaning all of the animal interaction was real, including Campbell’s synchronized stroll with a cheetah. from WWD
November 6, 20168 yr LOUIS VUITTON 'SPIRIT OF TRAVEL' - SPRING 2014 BTS Louis Vuitton’s extravagant ad campaigns have included Angelina Jolie on a raft in Cambodia and Madonna in a Parisian speakeasy wearing bunny ears. But the latest could take the crown for most impressive yet. The combination of models Edie Campbell and Karen Elson, the South African wilderness, super-stylist Carine Roitfeld and photographer Peter Lindbergh already makes for a winning formula. But add in that it’s Marc Jacobs’ last collection for the fashion house, and you’ll see it’s more than just a shoot - it’s a slice of history. As one of Marc’s favourite girls, we weren’t surprised to see Edie involved. She stole the spring/summer ’14 catwalk show in nothing more than Stephen Sprouse-inspired body paint and a headdress. ‘I was quite drunk when I was asked [to do the show] so I said yes, but I’m sure I would have thought about it longer if I had been sober!’ she tells Grazia exclusively. But that was nothing in comparison to the real animals on the set of this new campaign. ‘The cheetahs were a bit scary. Even though they had been photographed and filmed a lot, they were still quite wild - they behaved as long as you had a chunk of steak for them.’ Armed with the house’s iconic bags and some new styles, the well-dressed wanderers sat astride zebras and cuddled lion cubs. ‘I’d like to think of myself as an adventurer, but I probably don’t explore as much as I would like!’ says Edie. from Graziadaily - 25 February 2014
