January 14, 20187 yr MIU MIU – SPRING/SUMMER 2018 Photography: Alasdair McLellan Styling: Katie Grand Hair: Anthony Turner Makeup: Diane KendalModels: Adwoa Aboah, Cameron Russell, Edie Campbell, Elle Fanning, Faith Lynch, Olivia Anakwe, Oumie Jammeh, Rianne van Rompaey ‘Return to Arcosanti’ Miu Miu Spring Summer 2018 Advertising Campaign Set in Arcosanti, conceptual architect Paolo Soleri’s futuristic urban experiment erected in central Arizona, USA in the 1970s, the latest Miu Miu campaign presents a meeting of young minds. Outfitted in Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu Spring Summer ’18 collection are Elle Fanning, Adwoa Aboah, Olivia Anakwe, Edie Campbell, Oumie Jammeh, Faith Lynch, Rianne van Rompaey, and Cameron Russell. Wearing the designs of a woman renowned for nurturing experimental thinking, women who quite often use their social platforms to promote progressive attitudes congregate in and around the historically radical architecture. For example, Elle Fanning is active in the gender equality-promoting program REALgirl. Adwoa Aboah’s efforts toward social progress include the media platform Gurls Talk, an ambassadorship with Save the Children, and work with Heads Together. Edie Campbell has written for and spoken to several publications with the distinct goal of combatting abuse in the fashion industry. Cameron Russell’s diverse forms of activism range in subject from her popular TED Talk on the injustices of the modeling industry and her equal-opportunity platform Space-Made, to her campaigns for climate change awareness: People’s Pilgrimage, Earth Day in Fashion, Flower Challenge, the film Climate Warriors, and more. Inspired by Solieri’s concept of Arcology — a fusion of architecture and ecology — photographer Alasdair McLellan depicts clothing that shares a certain utopian utility with Arcosanti: the spartan yet wistful nature of the futurist community is explored through the repurposing of decorative floral pattering and plaid layered onto classic workwear silhouettes. Set against awe-inspiring concrete infrastructure, supple materials are accented with gemstones and wicker, leather and lace — treasures discovered in the sand. The desert in south-west Arizona stretches as far as the potential for experimentation, whether in pursuit of preservation, justice, community, design, or the liberty of free spirits. Outtake

January 26, 20187 yr BURNS NIGHT GATHERING HOSTED BY CHRISTOPHER KANE – 25 JANUARY 2018 Christopher Kane brought a taste of his native Scotland to London on Thursday during a Burns Night celebration in honor of Robert Burns, who is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland. Friends including Edie Campbell, Pam Hogg, Patrick Grant, Jack Guinness and Erdem Moralioglu joined the designer at the London Edition hotel’s intimate Punch room, and they were all decked out in traditional Scottish kilts or tartan trousers. “Just get a whiskey,” the designer said when asked for cocktail recommendations, waving a glass of whiskey on the rocks. Edie Campbell was quick to take his advice, having a sip straight from the bottle, while her friends snapped pictures of her. – wwd, 26 January 2018 Scottish designer Christopher Kane was hosting a Burns Night bash called Licence to Ceilidh. Patrick Grant, the tailor and TV presenter, and model Edie Campbell came in their best tartan, while broadcaster Kirsty Wark and Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri added to the Scottish contingent. Campbell did the Scots particularly proud. She was spotted helping herself to the Irn-Bru and Copper Dog punch behind the bar. “Well it is the end of January,” she said. – london evening standard, 26 January 2018
