Serena Williams looking for success at French

PARIS (Ticker) - Serena Williams heads into the French Open desperate to add to her trophy cabinet.

Williams' only title at Roland Garros was back in 2002, when she beat her sister Venus Williams in straights sets in the final.

Since then, she made the semifinals in 2003 and the quarterfinals in 2004, before missing the last two years because of injury.

She is seen as one of the favorites for the title this year, especially given the commanding form she showed in powering to the Australian Open crown in January.

Serena Williams has won every Grand Slam at least twice, except for the French, and she is determined to put that right over the next two weeks.

"The French Open is my number one priority simply because I only have the one trophy and she's really lonely - she really wants a friend," Serena Williams said.

"The other ones have friends, and this is the only one that doesn't. So just on a personal level, I would like to have two each. I'm here to play seven matches and I'm feeling good."

Seeded eighth, Serena Williams plays Tsvetana Pironkova in the first round. A possible meeting with world No. 1 Justine Henin looms in the quarters.

"My main opponent is the person I play in the first round, and then the second round," Serena Williams said. "You have to understand that people play me harder than I think they play anybody.

"When I'm playing, I have to be on my A game every time. I have to face everyone as if they are the number one player in the world."

Venus Williams is in the same half of the draw as Serena, and takes on Alize Cornet in the first round.
