Spanish model Carla Araque was born in Olivenza, Extremadura. Her father was an Andalusian military officer who had eight children. She received a strict education during the five years she studied with the Salesian nuns. She modeled on the runway for Elio Berhanyer and Pedro Rodriguez, among others. She says she learned a lot from Manolo Pertegaz. Once in New York, her favorite designer was Halston. Carla worked for the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency. "We models had to know how to dance.
