I guess it's a matter of contemporary taste and preference. I personally think Gigi has the potential to be more of a model in the mold of the original "Supermodels", and not in a strictly commercial sense. In a more contemporary sense, I think Gigi has more in common with Emily Ratajkowski. I guess I differ in that I'm more impressed by anything she's done with say, Shintani or Bozorgi, than I'd be with her doing SI or VS. There just seems to me to be more potential for Gigi to do a wider scale of work than I'd normally attribute to an average SI and/or VS model. Some of those models go on to other things and it seems most don't. And there's nothing wrong with that, that's fine, and an achievement in itself. But for every Kate Upton (and I'm not not suggesting there is more than one Kate Upton) who breaks out into a wider field, there are more that don't even establish an individual "brand" or a "name". As I noted, Gigi's resume already includes more work of an artistic aspect, collaborating with photographers who are not just representing or selling something, so the commercial benchmarks aren't all she seems to be aiming for.
