Today’s results are in!Group 24Hannah Ferguson (75.0%) defeated Tyra Banks (25.0%)Emily Ratajkowski (62.5%) defeated Andrea Orme (37.5%)Group 25Julie Henderson (76.0%) defeated Chrissy Teigen (24.0%)Kara Young (78.6%) defeated Irina Pantaeva (21.4%)Group 26Judit Masco (52.9%) defeated Jessica Van Der Steen (47.1%)Michelle Vawer (85.0%) defeated Annie Morton (15.0%)My spin:Wow, where to begin? In Group 24, a.k.a. “The Group of Death”, Hannah came in for her first match and knocked off Tyra, the highest ranked model in the group. Emily also survived a good test from Andrea Orme. So, Emily moves into first place in the group… for now. That one will be very interesting to follow as the Group Stage continues.Group 25 is one of the most interesting groups in the tournament, as the two top-ranked models are both much maligned. Both of those models, Chrissy and Julie, faced off in this match, and it’s obvious who is more maligned! Chrissy was trounced by Julie.Finally, in Group 26, favorite Judit Masco was taken to the brink by the underrated Jessica Van der Steen, while Michelle Vawer rebounded from a loss to easily beat Annie Morton.What are your thoughts? Post and share them!The latest group tables/standings can be found here.Thanks for voting!

In "Group 36, Match 4" you can only see a bit of Monique's face.
Also, could showing the previous year's rank on the picture pages influence people's choice? Wouldn't it lessen the chance of bias if the previous year's rank wasn't displayed in the picture before each vote?
True about Monique. But, I only use photos from SI itself. Search through the history of all of Monique's (two) photos in SI, and you'll see that both are from behind. That one is actually the only one that shows even a little bit of her face! So, that's why I use that one.
As for the rank... you may be right, but maybe not. I will submit that there have been plenty of higher ranked models who get killed by lower ranked ones. So, I don't think it influences many people. Does it influence you? Honestly I'm just curious... not being a jerk. I often wonder what different people use as criteria for voting. Do they look only at the photos? Do they look at the rank? Do they look at the appearances? Do they consider everything? I'm not sure!
Besides, I use a lot of geeky math to determine those current ranks, so I like to use them in my Photoshop match templates. It brings out the inner nerd inside of me.

Today’s results are in!Group 21Nina Agdal (79.2%) defeated Kate James (20.8%)Chanel Iman and Reka Ebergenyi DREW (50%-50%)Group 22Elsa Benitez (88.9%) defeated Sarah Nursey (11.1%)Aline Nakashima (72.2%) defeated Kenza Fourati (27.8%)Group 23Stacey Williams (72.2%) defeated Monika Schnarre (27.8%)Ann Peterson (71.4%) defeated Hina Tama (28.6%)My spin:After 138 matches complete in this year’s tournament, we have now had 2 draws, and Chanel Iman has been involved in both of them! Bizarre. Chanel drew with Hungarian beauty Reka Ebergenyi this time. So, Chanel can claim to be unbeaten, but she’s also falling dangerously out of reach of Nina for first place in Group 21.Group 22 saw two models improve to 2-0 in the Group Stage, as Elsa and Aline both had no trouble dispatching of their opposition. And in Group 23, Stacey Williams easily got past the youngest SI Swimsuit model of all-time, Monika Schnarre. In the other Group 23 match, the good news for Hina Tama was that she got her first votes of the 2014 competition. The bad news was that she still lost by a wide margin. Both Elsa and Ann improve to 2-0 and are tied atop the Group 23 table.What are your thoughts? Post and share them!The latest group tables/standings can be found here.Thanks for voting!

Today’s results are in!Group 18Vendela Kirsebom (93.8%) defeated Brandi Quinones (6.2%)Ana Paula Lemes (93.3%) defeated Gail O’Neill (6.7%)Group 19Ashley Richardson (58.8%) defeated Malia Jones (41.2%)Yasmin Brunet (100.0%) defeated Paulette Kieon (0.0%)Group 20Rachel Hunter (93.3%) defeated Turia Mau (6.7%)Carol Latimer (76.9%) defeated Charissa Craig (23.1%)My spin:Group 19 had the most interesting matches today. I was curious to see how Malia Jones would stack up against Ashley Richardson, and the answer was: pretty well! Malia still lost, but she held her own and gave 19th-ranked Ashley a test. In the other match in Group 19, Yasmin Brunet rebounded from a loss in her first match to dominate Paulette Kieon and capture the 11th clean sheet of this year’s tournament.Other results were right in line with expectations. Of note, perhaps, is the battle of throwback models in Group 20. Carol Latimer had an easy win over Charissa Craig. So, at least the models of the 60s and 70s can win when paired against easy competition!What are your thoughts? In the other groups, all of the matches were one-sided. Heidi and Lauren continued their domination of Group 15, and Rebecca and Aurelie dominated Group 17’s matches. Not too competitive, but these groups do feature some wonderfully hot models!What are your thoughts? Post and share them!The latest group tables/standings can be found here.Thanks for voting!

Today’s results are in!Group 12Kate Upton (87.5%) defeated Jarah Mariano (12.5%)Alicia Hall (95.0%) defeated Carmen Luisa Vela (5.0%)Group 13Paulina Porizkova (100.0%) defeated Michaela Bercu (0.0%)Irina Gerasimenko (89.5%) defeated Annette Molen (10.5%)Group 14Bar Refaeli (88.5%) defeated Ana Paula Araujo (11.5%)Pixie Peterson (77.8%) defeated Tanga Moreau (22.2%)My spin:In Group 13, Paulina Porizkova became the 7th winner with a clean sheet, as she left Michaela Bercu in the dust. Michaela had a decent showing in last year’s tournament, so a clean sheet was not expected. Group 13 looks like a two-horse race with Paulina and Yasmeen Ghauri likely to slug it out for first place. The others don’t look up to the task.In Group 12, her majesty Kate Upton made mincemeat of Jarah Mariano, and Alicia Hall rebounded from her loss to beat up on Carmen Luisa Vela. Finally, in Group 14, Bar Refaeli looks like every bit of the favorite she is, and she cruised to another victory.What are your thoughts? So, now we have completed one full round robin cycle and are 1/4 of the way through the second one. In this batch, there were no real surprises, other than the low margin of victory for Anne V. What a showing for Veronica Blume against her, and if Veronica shows this well in her other matches, she may very well sneak her way into the Knockout Stage of the tournament!What are your thoughts? Today’s results are in!Group 6Daniela Pestova (65.0%) defeated Marloes Horst (35.0%)Beri Smither (58.8%) defeated Quiana Grant (41.2%)Group 7Irina Shayk (86.7%) defeated Amber Noelle Ehresmann (13.3%)Jeisa Chiminazzo (87.5%) defeated Micheline Lee (12.5%)Group 8Brooklyn Decker (75.0%) defeated Shana Zadrick (25.0%)Erin Gray (100.0%) defeated Anna Getaneh (0.0%)Group 28Kim Alexis (88.2%) defeated Jane Gill (11.8%)Hilary Rhoda (66.7%) defeated Monica Bellucci (33.3%)My spin:In Group 8, things got a little weird, as Erin Gray became the 7th - and most unlikely - member of the clean sheet club, as she got 100% of the vote against Anna Getaneh. All of this after Erin lost her first match! To add to the weirdness, Anna has had two matches so far, one against Brooklyn Decker and this one against Erin. She managed to get 17.5% of the votes against #8-ranked Brooklyn but couldn’t get any votes against #126-ranked Erin. Huh? That’s why I enjoy doing this tournament! In less weird news, Brooklyn dominated a worthy opponent in Shana Zadrick to improve to 2-0 in round robin play.In Group 6, Beri Smither also bounced back from an earlier loss to beat Quiana Grant. In the same group, Marloes Horst made her debut against #6 ranked Daniela Pestova. Tough debut! Daniela won rather easily.Other results were pretty much as expected.What are your thoughts? But, she pulled it out and got the important 3 points for the win. Nice showing by Valerie, though, who I personally thought was the weakest of all 2014 rookies.What are your thoughts? Kathy becomes the 6th model in this year’s tournament to record a clean sheet victory.In Group 47, the rookies continued their assault on the tournament as Sara Sampaio crushed Naomi Campbell.Finally, a surprise result from Group 26, where Renee Simonsen knocked off Michelle Vawer. Today’s results are in!Group 43Jessica Perez (81.8%) defeated Jamee Becker (18.2%)Sonia Dara (52.4%) defeated Niki Taylor (47.6%)Group 44Gigi Hadid (62.5%) defeated Kelly Emberg (37.5%)Rita Tellone (53.3%) defeated Yvette Sylvander (46.7%)Group 45Rachel Roberts (82.4%) defeated Britta Dubbels (17.6%)Bregje Heinen (100.0%) defeated Roshumba Williams (0.0%)Group 25Chrissy Teigen (78.3%) defeated Irina Pantaeva (21.7%)Karen Mulder (63.6%) defeated Kara Young (36.4%)My spin:Where do I begin? First, let’s start in Group 43, where Jessica Perez had a predictably easy time with Jamee Becker, but Sonia Dara claimed a shocking victory over supermodel Niki Taylor. Niki got bounced out of the tournament in her first match last year, losing to Molly Sims. So, that was nothing to be alarmed at. But, this loss to Sonia Dara leaves me questioning if Niki was really a contender in this group. Perhaps not. I think she’ll obviously win some of her matches, but she can’t afford losses like this when she’s in a group with Jessica Perez and Laetitia Casta.Meanwhile, over in Group 44, rookie Gigi Hadid had an impressive victory over Kelly Emberg, and Rita Tellone pulled off another surprise in beating SI covergirl Yvette Sylvander.In Group 45, the results were predictable, but the newsworthy item here is Bregje’s clean sheet victory over Roshumba Williams. Bregje becomes the 5th model so far in Group Stage competition to record a clean sheet.Finally, there’s Group 25 and controversial model Chrissy Teigen. People seem to either love or hate her, but she took care of Irina Pantaeva easily. The other match was interesting, pitting two people likely considered in the supermodel class, as well: Karen Mulder and Kara Young. I expected a close match, but it really wasn’t too close, as Karen won going away.What are your thoughts? Post and share them!The latest group tables/standings can be found here.Thanks for voting!

~~~~My precise thought when I saw the Ratajowski-Praver and the DiDonato-Von Gerkan matchups was that this was a "Group of Death".I'd voted for both "underdogs", partly because I figured that the models in the most-recent 2014 SI issue (plus perhaps two of the fastest-rising young supermodels) would receive a narrow majority of votes. Manon was also a VS model, back in the era when a number of models appeared in both SI and VS catalogs.
Well, you're right about the "Group of Death" thing, but be careful... DiDonato & von Gerkan are in a different group. They're in Group 41. Group 24 is the real tough one, with EmRata, Praver, Tyra, Hannah Ferguson, and Orme.
It's easy to get mixed up, since there are a lot of matches going on. But, just realize that I post matches from 3 groups per day. So, not everyone I post in a given day is in the same group.
You can always check out my handy table of groups linked here.
Thanks for participating!!!
2014 SI Swimsuit Model Tournament
in Bellazon Competitions
Oh yes, you are correct. I actually thought I had used the one I used before, where her head was at least turned. I shouldn't have used the one where you can't see her face. More importantly, SI should have the decency to at least show the face of any model that is used in their magazine.
