Today’s results are in!Group 30Cintia Dicker (87.0%) defeated Babette March (13.0%)Estelle Lefebure (94.7%) defeated Tannia Rubiano (5.3%)Group 31Chandra North (100.0%) defeated Kadra Ahmed Omar (0.0%)Alyssa Miller (62.5%) defeated Amber Smith (37.5%)Group 32Vanessa Lorenzo (57.1%) defeated Jessica White (42.9%)Sue Peterson (57.1%) defeated Sheila Roscoe (42.9%)My spin:Chandra North earned the 16th clean sheet of the tournament, blanking Kadra Ahmed Omar. Despite that, Alyssa Miller remained ahead of Chandra in the group table, as she beat Amber Smith to take control of the group. As of now, Chandra actually has a greater vote percentage than Alyssa, so she has a chance. But, she would need a very unlikely result to occur in the final round robin, as Alyssa would need to lose to Kathryn Redding. In addition, Chandra still has a tough match against Amber Smith remaining, which makes first place all the more unlikely. In Group 32, Vanessa Lorenzo became the 3rd model to clinch first place in her group with a victory over Jessica White. Jessica has been one of the biggest disappointments of the tournament, winning only one of three matches so far, including a shocking draw with Sue Peterson. Vanessa will move on to the Knockout Stage to face the winner of Group 47 - likely either Sara Sampaio or Selita Ebanks. Finally, in Group 30, the one who started it all, Babette March, finished off her 2014 tournament with a loss to the red-hot redhead Cintia Dicker. Cintia hasn’t quite mathematically clinched first place yet, so we won’t add her to the bracket. But, it would take an extremely unlikely event to prevent her from claiming first place. What are your thoughts? Post and share them! Thanks for voting!

Today’s results are in!Group 27Carol Alt (82.4%) defeated Louise Forsling (17.6%)Carolyn Murphy (59.1%) defeated Ariel Meredith (40.9%)Group 28Kim Alexis (66.7%) defeated Monica Bellucci (33.3%)Hilary Rhoda (66.7%) defeated Libby Otis (33.3%)Group 29Daniella Sarahyba (88.0%) defeated Jean Pelton (12.0%)Isabeli Fontana (84.0%) defeated Lana Ogilvie (16.0%)My spin:Group 27 and Group 28 will both come down to a showdown for first place in the final round robin cycle. In Group 27, Carol Alt and Carolyn Murphy will fight it out, and it Group 28, it’ll be Hilary Rhoda versus Kim Alexis. The winner of these matches advances and gets a first round bye, while the loser leaves their fate up to the wild card selections. In Group 29, Daniella Sarahyba and Isabeli Fontana remain tied atop the division, but they have already faced one another - to a draw! With both heavy favorites to win their final match, it looks like it will come down to a tiebreaker to determine which of them gets first place in the group. What are your thoughts? Today’s results are in!Group 24Emily Ratajkowski (65.6%) defeated Tyra Banks (34.4%)Tori Praver and Hannah Ferguson DREW (50.0%-50.0%)Group 25Chrissy Teigen (80.8%) defeated Kara Young (19.2%)Julie Henderson (75.0%) defeated Karen Mulder (25.0%)Group 26Judit Masco (61.5%) defeated Michelle Vawer (38.5%)Jessica Van Der Steen (75.0%) defeated Renee Simonsen (25.0%)My spin:Emily Ratajkowski became the second model to clinch first place with her win over Tyra Banks. Emily finishes the Group Stage at 4-0 in the “Group of Death”, which is very impressive. She’ll face the winner of Group 34 in her first Knockout Stage match, which right now looks like either Fernanda Motta or Eva Herzigova. Also in Group 24, we had our 6th draw of the tournament, as Tori Praver and Hannah Ferguson could not be separated. Because of Emily’s clinch, Tori and Hannah are fighting for a wild card spot, and this result may hurt both of them. They are tied in the group table, and amazingly they are separated by one-tenth of a percentage point in the tiebreaker (total vote percentage). It will be an interesting finish in Group 24.In Group 25, Chrissy Teigen has rebounded with two straight wins after her opening match loss to Julie Henderson, and Julie rebounded after a loss in her last match to knock off group leader Karen Mulder. Now, the group is completely up in the air, with a four-way tie for first place. Of those, only three can win first place, though, because Kara Young’s hope was dashed with her loss to Chrissy. So, it’s a fight for first between Julie, Chrissy, and Karen. Finally, in Group 26, Judit Masco improved to 3-0 and took control of the group with her win and Renee Simonsen’s loss. Judit and Renee face off in the final match of this group, and Renee would have to beat Judit by almost an 80%-20% margin in order to take first place. That’s unlikely, but we’ll see what happens. What are your thoughts? Post and share them! Thanks for voting!

Today’s results are in!Group 21Nina Agdal (86.2%) defeated Chanel Iman (13.8%)Kate James (94.7%) defeated Sabrina Barnett (5.3%)Group 22Elsa Benitez (54.5%) defeated Aline Nakashima (45.5%)Michelle Alves (84.2%) defeated Sarah Nursey (15.8%)Group 23Stacey Williams (91.3%) defeated Ann Peterson (8.7%)Monika Schnarre (80.0%) defeated Dayle Haddon (20.0%)My spin:The incredibly hot Nina Agdal became the first model to clinch first place in her group, as she easily defeated Chanel Iman to take the Group 21 title. Nina will be slotted into the Knockout Stage bracket and will take on the winner of Group 35, which looks like a three-way race between Kate Bock, Shannan Click, and Esti Ginzburg. In Group 22, upstart Aline Nakashima nearly pulled off the upset over #22 Elsa Benitez, but she came up just short and finished the Group Stage at 3-1. That showing will probably be good enough to advance as a wild card. Meanwhile, Elsa will wrap up first place with a win in her final match; a match in which she’ll be a heavy favorite. In Group 23, Stacey Williams is in control, and only Monika Schnarre can mathematically catch Stacey. Realistically, though, this one is sealed up, too, because Stacey would have to lose her final match against a low-ranked model by a huge margin. But, we won’t put Stacey in the Knockout Stage bracket yet… she hasn’t officially clinched! What are your thoughts? Post and share them!

Today’s results are in!Group 18Vendela Kirsebom (83.3%) defeated Ana Paula Lemes (16.7%)Kristy Hinze (87.5%) defeated Brandi Quinones (12.5%)Group 19Ashley Richardson (70.6%) defeated Yasmin Brunet (29.4%)Malia Jones (81.3%) defeated Noemie Lenoir (18.7%)Group 20Rachel Hunter (94.1%) defeated Charissa Craig (5.9%)Natasha Barnard (100.0%) defeated Turia Mau (0.0%)My spin:In Group 20, Natasha Barnard became the 15th model to post a clean sheet in this year’s tournament, but it had been nearly 100 matches since the last clean sheet (by Aurelie Claudel over Paula Warner.) In the same group, Rachel Hunter steamrolled Charissa Craig, which will setup a showdown for first place between Natasha and Rachel. Both models have had an easy time with their overmatched competition this year, as both have scored over 90% of the vote in each of their matches. In Group 19, Ashley Richardson took control with a win and a loss by Noemie Lenoir. Ashley has just about wrapped up first place in the group with this result. She’d have to lose her final match against Noemie by a very wide margin to lose her grip on first place. Finally, in Group 18, Vendela Kirsebom and Kristy Hinze rolled again to setup yet another showdown for first place. They’ll play each other in the final round robin cycle, and the winner gets first place. What are your thoughts? Today’s results are in!Group 15Heidi Klum (53.3%) defeated Lauren Mellor (46.7%)Kylie Bax (75.0%) defeated Cris Urena (25.0%)Group 16Petra Nemcova (63.6%) defeated Dominique Piek (36.4%)Molly Sims (87.5%) defeated Kay Hughes (12.5%)Group 17Rebecca Romijn (64.7%) defeated Aurelie Claudel (35.3%)Jenny Brunt (57.1%) defeated Paula Warner (42.9%)My spin:Lots of interesting matches today. Let’s start at the top, in Group 15, where Heidi Klum narrowly defeated rookie Lauren Mellor to move into a tie for first place. A victory over Kylie Bax in her next match seals up first place for Heidi. If Lauren does end up short in her quest for first place, she has at least put up a great showing during the tournament, and she’s in contention to advance as a wild card.In Group 16, Petra Nemcova took care of South African hottie (and personal favorite of mine) Dominique Piek, and one match remains for Petra to lock up first place. That match won’t be easy, though, as Petra will face the also unbeaten Molly Sims, who easily beat up on Kay Hughes. Finally, in Group 17, Rebecca Romijn entered play behind French stunner Aurelie Claudel, but she withstood Aurelie’s challenge and moved into control of the division. Rebecca can wrap up first place with a win in her final Group Stage match against Jenny Brunt. Jenny has won 2 of her 3 matches, but I don’t think she’ll be able to withstand the barrage of Rebecca votes. What are your thoughts? Today’s results are in!Group 12Kate Upton (73.1%) defeated Alicia Hall (26.9%)Jarah Mariano (52.6%) defeated Melissa Keller (47.4%)Group 13Paulina Porizkova (90.5%) defeated Irina Grasimenko (9.5%)Yasmeen Ghauri (58.8%) defeated Michaela Bercu (41.2%)Group 14Bar Refaeli (96.4%) defeated Pixie Peterson (3.6%)Izabel Goulart (86.4%) defeated Ana Paula Araujo (13.6%)My spin:In Group 12, Kate the great took control of the group with another easy win, this time over Alicia Hall. Melissa Keller was tied with Kate for first place, but she lost a close match to Jarah Mariano, so both Jarah and Melissa sit at 2-1 on the tournament. As of now, Kate has nearly wrapped up first place in the group. There is no way for Jarah to catch her because of the tiebreaker, and the only way Melissa can do so is to beat Kate by at least an 81%-29% margin in their next matchup. That seems incredibly unlikely… Kate may be beaten from time to time, but almost never by that margin. In Group 13, Paulina Porizkova continued to thrash her competition, as she won her third straight match in which she received over 90% of the vote. Yasmeen Ghauri also won to stay even with Paulina at 3-0, so it will come down to their match the final round robin cycle.Group 14 has a couple of standout performers in Bar Refaeli and Izabel Goulart. Both won easily for the third straight match, so just like in Group 13, this group will come down to the final match between these two juggernauts. What are your thoughts? In Group 10, Anne V was pushed to the limit by previously unbeaten Ehrinn Cummings, but Anne prevailed to move into first place in the group with one match left to play. In Group 11, Christie Brinkley was pushed even harder by the similarly unbeaten Yesica Toscanini. Christie won by a nose and moves into first place, but Yesica’s 3-1 finish in the Group Stage will certainly make her a strong contender for one of the wild card spots. Finally, we had our 4th draw of the tournament, as Lujan Fernandez and Veronica Blume could not be separated. Veronica is still winless in the tournament, but she’s been close to a win every match. She deserves to have more than her one point in the tables. What are your thoughts? Post and share them! The latest group tables/standings can be found here. Thanks for voting!

Today’s results are in!Group 6Daniela Pestova (76.5%) defeated Beri Smither (23.5%)Marloes Horst (88.9%) defeated Karen Alexander (11.1%)Group 7Jeisa Chiminazzo (62.5%) defeated Irina Shayk (37.5%)Lucia Dvorska (87.5%) defeated Amber Noelle Ehresmann (12.5%)Group 8Brooklyn Decker (91.7%) defeated Erin Gray (8.3%)Fernanda Tavares (52.4%) defeated Shana Zadrick (47.6%)My spin:The upset of the day was in Group 7, where Irina Shayk became the highest seeded model to lose so far in the tournament, as she fell to the very impressive Jeisa Chiminazzo. Lucia Dvorska is now in the lead in the group, and she’ll put it away with one more victory. But, that victory will have to come at the hands of Irina herself. If Lucia wins, then she finishes in first place. If she loses, then either Irina or Lucia will finish in first place, depending on the final vote count. Jeisa finishes the Group Stage at 3-1, but she cannot claim first place in the group. No matter what happens in the Irina vs. Lucia match, Jeisa will finish either behind or tied but losing the tiebreaker (total vote percentage). In Group 8, Brooklyn Decker and Fernanda Tavares both improved to 3-0, so it will come down to the final match between those two to decide first place in the group. Finally, Group 6 is looking like it’s Daniela Pestova’s to lose. Daniela just needs to beat underdog Karen Alexander in her final match, and first place in Group 6 is hers. What are your thoughts? In Group 3, Marisa Miller and Stephanie Seymour will battle. In Group 4, it’ll be Cheryl Teigs and May Andersen, and in Group 5 it will be Yamila Diaz-Rahi vs. Melissa Haro. What if there was another option like "can't decide"? Also what if both pictures (if there is always going to be one of each for comparison) were from the same type of source (eg. both a picture from the magazine or both from a video clip but not a mix of both since in that case the PQ is likely to be quite different between the two). Also what if the pictures were what most represents the source (eg. if from a video clip, a shot that shows what they were normally like in the clip).
Good ideas... thanks for the feedback. It's very tough and time-consuming for me to do this, so matching exact picture qualities is tough. I'd have to do this for my full-time job.
I do try to, though... I actually try to match a similar pose for each model, when possible... but also select the most appealing photo for each. In short, the one that gives the model the best chance at winning. I also do not reuse photos unless there are no more choices. Some of the older models, for instance, have one or two photos, and that's it. Then, there's Monique Moura de Carvalho, who doesn't even have one that fully shows her face!
I'm not sure what the "can't decide" option would give us, other than to drive home the point that it's a tough decision. But, the point is to vote for the winner, so the "can't decide" votes would just be thrown out anyway. I think making that tough decision is a lot of the fun. Choosing Heidi Klum over Kay Hughes is easy... but choosing between Heidi Klum and Brooklyn Decker is awfully tough!

Today’s results are in!Group 46Angela Lindvall (85.7%) defeated Carre Otis (14.3%)Juliana Martins (68.4%) defeated Zoe Duchesne (31.6%)Group 47Sara Sampaio (80.0%) defeated Damaris Lewis (20.0%)Selita Ebanks (57.9%) defeated Apollonia van Ravenstein (42.1%)Group 2Kathy Ireland (54.5%) defeated Samantha Hoopes (45.5%)Valeria Mazza (65.0%) defeated Maggie Smith (35.0%)My spin:This completes three of the five full round robin cycles, so the haves and the have-nots are starting to become more clear. In Group 46, Carre Otis looked like one of those haves, but she was exposed by Angela Lindvall, as Angela wiped her out. Juliana Martins now looks like the true contender for first place, but there’s still a lot that can happen in this group, so nobody is out of it.In Group 47, Sara Sampaio and Selita Ebanks both remained unbeaten in this year’s tournament, and they appear to be on a collision course towards first place. Finally, there’s the start of our 4th round robin cycle in Group 2, and we had ourselves a great match between #2 ranked Kathy Ireland and hot rookie Samantha Hoopes. Both entered the match unbeaten, and Kathy just barely survived. The victory puts Kathy in first place, but she does have one match remaining against a tough opponent in Valeria Mazza. Samantha’s four Group Stage matches are over, and she’s made a great case for a wild card spot in the Knockout Stage. But, she now plays the waiting game to see what happens elsewhere. What are your thoughts? Post and share them! The latest group tables/standings can be found here. Thanks for voting!
