I like the second to last picture. He looks happier to have a hat than Alice around, it seems
You mean Khan as Khan? I suppose, she enjoyed it
Yes, I meant characters, not actors.
Frankenstein was amazing! I seriously envy those lucky people who could watch the live performance. Jonny Lee Miller's Creature blew me away, now I simply must watch the other version and see if Benedict was as good as his co-star (or, who knows, even better, he is quite capable of that).
I think he is better as a creature, and the diapers are so funny
Now that I have seen both versions I think both Benedict and Jonny Lee were fantastic as the Creature. Honestly, equally great, even though each in their own way.
On the downside, however, was Jonny Lee's Victor - not quite as convincing as I had expected. He played obsession on the verge of insanity, but, unfortunately, his character didn't give me the impression of a person of superior intelligence.
Benedict's portrayal of Frankenstein was way more balanced. Actually, spot on.

Speaking of cool baddies, I can't help posting this, narrated by BC:
Oh it's good to be bad!
Yes, they probably had done some work together before Sherlock, but Benedict mentioned 'Atonement' in one of his interviews:
Well, given his amazing versatility, it's not at all surprising now that they cast him as Sherlock.
Perhaps I should re-watch 'Atonement' and see if Sherlock was actually showing a little bit in Paul Marshall though.
damn
Imagine, if navigation systems spoke in his voice! If it were like this, I would stop being a lazy a$$ and would finally obtain my driving licence
Oh I don't know... Again, might be quite a bit distracting and probably not so good for safety and traffic
. Well, my driving skills suck anyway.
GQ Style
I like these! I am no fan of Alice Eve, but she and BC look good together.
It appears that Khan had actually dated his arch-enemy's daughter before he broke her leg

It was like plain, boring goodies (which had most of the screen time) vs. a charismatic and cool baddie

Somehow it does not surprise me as much anymore. I mean, it's Moffat and Gatiss we are talking about
. If I am not wrong, Mark and Benedict had jobs in the same series before Sherlock. Why wouldn't it be the reason to cast Ben? Idk
Yes, they probably had done some work together before Sherlock, but Benedict mentioned 'Atonement' in one of his interviews:
I have a slightly strange face. It’s always marked me out as being somewhat period drama orientated I guess. I think the other worldly or at least the other age era thing is to do with something I happened to be marked out for at the beginning of my career and I’m happy to do that. I’m happy to contain old souls from old worlds and they’re wonderfully rich dynamic characters so I think that was part of the attraction to having me play Sherlock in the first place.
Although Steven said it was what I did in Atonement that made them think of me which is slightly disturbing but I do get it. I sort of get it. I mean I do have modern tastes and sensibilities but you do sort of suppress that a little bit when you’re playing Sherlock other than that he is in the 21st century and he is masterful with multi media and can scroll or tweet or use any interface as fast as the fastest but Sherlock is a modern man. He is, so it sort of strays into the territory of how to hold yourself, the voice, what class to give him, what sort of shape should I give to him in my mind, his back story, his parentage and when did it all begin? Was he born like this? And I don’t think he was I think he began and that’s what we touched on in series 2 and will hopefully explore more in series 3. As far as being oldy worldy my English teacher always said when I was very young that I was an old soul.Well, given his amazing versatility, it's not at all surprising now that they cast him as Sherlock.
Perhaps I should re-watch 'Atonement' and see if Sherlock was actually showing a little bit in Paul Marshall though.

I think he is better as a creature, and the diapers are so funny
Haha, the loincloth (that's what you mean, right?) worked for me actually. I guess full nudity might be a bit distracting, especially if Benny C plays the Creature.
it was! I mean, when they showed Khan I was like "ah he is so cool! oh, breathe on me someone, please"
and in other episodes I was like "gooooosh, when will it end?"
I knew this is not the kind of film I should watch but couldn't help myself checking it out.
I'm so with you on this. Oh, wait, I did like that funny little guy, Scotty. He added a nice comedy touch to the otherwise totally humorless film. And the music, to me, wasn't bad either.
I am on my way to watch Inseperable and Atonement this evening
I haven't watched 'Inseparable' yet. BC's role in 'Atonement' is very small, and his character is disgusting :x . But it was this role that inspired Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss to cast him as Sherlock. Isn't it crazy, the way those creative minds work?

Better tell me about your Frenkenstein experience?

I have finally watched Star Track btw. I feel like I'm a hero now
Oh no! Was it a real struggle for you then?

I know, I know
. "I am a grown-up, respectful fan"
I think I should put it on my T-shirt.
Thank you soooooo much for posting this! I had had no idea about such an opportunity to see some of BC’s theatre work. I looked it up and, yay, “Frankenstein” IS on in a local cinema in my city! Have already booked a couple of tickets for Friday night and can’t wait!
my answer is
Anyway I've given up trying to pretend I am normal, because I have never been it
Haha, the gif is hilarious
Which version are you watching? I've chosen the one where Benedict is the Creature. There is also a performance dedicated to the Fifth anniversary of the National Theatre in cinemas but I haven't watched it yet.
The one in which he is Victor Frankenstein in my case. But I'm pretty sure I'll want to watch the other one as well.
I am devastated
. I've finished the last episode of CB! The actual last one that was recorded last Sunday will probably be aired near Christmas... I will retire before I get to see new Sherlock and listen to the last episode of Cabine Pressure.
Oh, you've gone through them all so quickly! I'm still in the middle of Series 1. But I've got a major Cumberbatch overdose already, don't really want to aggravate it even further
... "Frankenstein" tomorrow...
oh well...

I like to think to myself that only intelligent and mature ladies are cabale of appreciating such a decent and talented man that Benedict is. At least it sounds good
I know, I know

, which btw I watched in one of the local cinemas a couple of weeks ago

Is it ok to fangirl this bad when you are, well, far from your 16
? I don't know...
I keep asking myself the same question :notsure: .
Oh and I started to listen to Cabin Pressure today, it's adorable and funny!
What a coincedence! So did I, today, I'm not kidding
! I really enjoyed the first two episodes I have listened to so far, and not just because Benedict is in it. All people involved (the writer, John Finnemore, in the first place) are doing a great job.

Ah, and for those who haven't seen it yet, there is an hour-long interview with Benedict on The Hollywood Reporter's website:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/sherlock-star-benedict-cumberbatch-being-680622
It's so good to see that he is not only amazingly talented, but also intelligent and well-spoken.

I must be carrying it a bit too far with my passion for BC's talent: I watched Star Trek yesterday, and I'm normally not interested in such films.
I really liked Benedict's work because his Khan is a really ambiguous villain driven by his human emotions, not just another staightforward bad guy. And THAT VOICE, omg
. Great styling too, so sexy. I coudn't even really hate Khan (somehow I hated Captain Kirk instead, was kinda disappointed when he didn'd die after all in the end
, sorry fans).
But I admit I haven't watched any of the previous Star Trek films, so I can't compare Ben's Khan with the versions done by other actors.

Now I feel slightly unhealthily obsessed with the series
. This man is surely supertalented and charismatic :neo2: . Did I say his Sherlock character is great? He is
My feelings exactly!
I saw Benedict first in ‘Atonement’ and then, a few years later, in ‘To the Ends of the Earth’ TV mini-series. I remember the impression his face made on me, I thought something like ‘Oh my, this IS the right face to play all sorts of villains (‘Atonement’) and just rather unpleasant guys (‘To the Ends…’)
. Somehow I skipped ‘Sherlock’, both series 1 and 2, when they were released, and only a few weeks ago, after series 3 had been announced, I finally decided to give it a go (still with a foreboding in mind though: ‘A Sherlock Holmes? HIM?!!!
What the hell?! )… Now that I’ve watched all the episodes, I’m totally in love, can’t wait for more!
