Kaka: "Inter Are The Favourites" AC Milan superstar Kaka, currently on international duty with Brazil, spoke to the Gazzetta dello Sport today about the upcoming season, declaring Inter the favourites to retain the Scudetto and pinpointing the English clubs as Milan's greatest European threat. Speaking from the Brazilian training camp in Montpellier, France, Kaka reflected on the pre-season - and the long campaign to come - as he prepared for Brazil's clash with Algeria, to be played on Wednesday night. And while all clubs will start this season level on points, the star Milan midfielder had no doubts as to who he thought would finish a clear first in Serie A. After declaring that Milan's target was to "win all", he admitted, "But, for sure, in pole-position is Inter. "In the lead, I put Inter. The defeat in the Italian Supercoppa against Roma doesn't change that. They are still the champions, and they are strong." However, he claimed that Milan would be the team to put in the biggest challenge, with "then Roma, and then Juventus" bringing up the top four. The player also spoke favourably of the then-incomplete but widely expected transfer of Emerson from Real Madrid to AC Milan, saying, "Emerson is worth a small sacrifice [of a transfer fee.] Adding him to the squad would make us just about complete. "While we have a good team already, you need to have important alternatives in all places." Kaka has in the past praised Pato, the teenage Brazilian landed this summer, and did so again here - albeit with a note of caution. "Of course, Pato's signing is incomparable. He has the talent. But he needs to grow with calmness," warned Kaka. "He'll use the months in which he cannot play [until January] in order to understand 'Planet Milan' and the rossoneri history. He must understand the world in which he now lives. "And he'll discover that it's a beautiful one." Moving on to Silvio Berlusconi's recent light-hearted talk of a Kaka-Ronaldinho trade between Milan and Barcelona, Kaka responded in his usual fashion. He said, "My relationship with Milan is clear: I'll be here as long as Berlusconi wants me. As soon as the president doesn't think I'm worth it, I'll leave." As Kaka was with the Brazilian squad at the time, the questions moved on to international affairs. He denied any knowledge of the drinking habits of the squad - "I don't drink and I go to bed early" - and of a Ronaldo-Dunga clash. And of course, he himself claimed to get along fine with the trainer - despite Dunga's assertion that nobody is 'untouchable' in the squad and anyone can warm the bench, as Kaka is expected to do. "The Selecao is in my heart. I'm proud to wear the shirt. And to be part of the squad sometimes involves sitting on the bench. I have no problems with the trainer." When asked about his decision to sit out of the Copa America, he said, "[Dunga] understood, and that was the matter closed. "I don't want to speak anymore about the Copa America." Understandable. He's spoken at length about it previously. And he has other things on his mind - like AC Milan's season opener at Genoa on Sunday...

Casillas doubtful for Madrid's first match of the season MADRID, Spain: Goalkeeper Iker Casillas is doubtful for the opening game of Real Madrid's Spanish league title defense this weekend. Casillas damaged his right knee in a collision with teammate Cesc Fabregas during training with the Spanish national team on Monday, forcing him out of Wednesday's friendly against Greece in Thessaloniki. "It's not too serious but it will rule him out for between four and six days," the national team's doctor, Genaro Borras was quoted as saying by sports daily Marca on Tuesday. Madrid kicks off the league season against crosstown rival Atletico at Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Saturday in Bernd Schuster's first league match in charge of the team. If Casillas is unavailable, Madrid's offseason signing from Liverpool, Jerzy Dudek, would be in line for his Spanish league debut.
