(dpa) - Thai tennis ace Paradon Srichaphan and Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova are set to announce their engagement at a Bangkok hotel next week, media reports said Saturday.

Citing a source close to the celebrity couple, a newspaper reported that they will officially announce their engagement on Tuesday at Bangkok's plush Sukhothai Hotel, and are expected to tie the knot by the end of 2007.

"I won't give an interview to any media until Tuesday. You will hear and see things at the hotel," Paradorn told the local English-language daily.

Paradon, Thailand's top tennis champ, and Glebova, a Canadian of Russian descent who won the Miss Universe contest that was held in Bangkok two years ago, acknowledged that they were "special friends" in February.

Local newspapers have been speculating that something was brewing between the twosome since last year when the beauty queen publicly rewarded Paradon with a kiss for beating Tim Henman in the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open.

Glebova became "ambassador" for Thailand's Singha beer shortly after ending her Miss Universe stint, a job that has kept her in the limelight in Thailand.
