  1. Huffington Post:

Already an emerging Hollywood talent, actress Amber Heard came out of the closet at the GLAAD 25th anniversary celebration on Friday, proudly announcing that she is a lesbian.

The 'Zombieland' and 'Pineapple Express' star, who will soon appear as Jonny Depp's love interest in 'The Rum Diaries,' came out with her girlfriend, photographer Tasya van Ree, whom she has been dating since 2008.

Speaking to the gay rights-focused entertainment site AfterEllen.com, Heard said coming out was both a personal and moral triumph.

Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels as an overweight girl.

In the July issue of Redbook, Michaels reveals that she was once overweight. Michaels, who is now 5'2" and 120 pounds of muscle, said she weighed 170 pounds at her heaviest. "Oh, my God, it was pure hell," says Michaels, who began to gain weight at the age of 12 after her parents divorced. "I spent all of eighth grade in my classroom because God forbid I ever left. I was terrorized."

The 36-year-old fitness expert credits martial arts for her weight loss success. "Karate saved my life. It all stopped the day I broke two boards with a kick," she tells the magazine. After she shed the pounds, Michaels eventually transformed herself into America's fitness drill-sergeant. Additionally to being the certified fitness guru for "The Biggest Loser," Michaels has published a series of books and stars in exercise DVDs.

Along with karate, Michaels lives by a few unbreakable rules that have helped her successfully lose the weight. They include calorie counting, avoiding processed foods and doing five intense 30-minute workouts a week.

  6. Conan on Twitter

Conan launched his Twitter account just weeks ago and quickly climbed into the social network site’s most popular users with over half a million followers – still short of the 4 million-plus heights of Twitter king Ashton Kutcher, however.

In other Conan news, the former “Tonight Show” host is reportedly planning a live tour, with The Hollywood Reporter’s Showbiz 411 blog reporting this week that the gigs will kick off in mid-April.

  7. Dirk Nannes for IPL T20 cricket

In the next 40 days, the father-of-two will make three to four times his annual Cricket Victoria salary, which, with his frequent absences through injury this summer, totalled well under $100,000. "Sure I can slave away for years playing Shield cricket. But cricket essentially is my work," Nannes justified his decision. "You have to do what is best for business and what is best for family. We have young kids. We have a mortgage. What should I do, beat myself around playing Shield cricket and maybe having another two years? Or be available for the next five years of IPL cricket? It's a no-brainer."

Nannes is one of more than a dozen leading Australians - including high-profile trio Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist - preparing to play in the IPL. He is with the Delhi Daredevils, coached by Victorian Greg Shipperd. Nannes departed Melbourne last night for the soon-to-start third season of Indian Premier League (IPL).
