BIO

Born in Denmark, photographer Kenneth Willardt honed his talents in his home country before relocating to New York and making the city his home shortly thereafter. Throughout his career, Kenneth has captured an impressive array of images and motion that epitomize our contemporary concepts of beauty. Although his work varies in tone and subject matter, his finely structured compositions all possess a timeless elegance. He is most widely known for his compelling beauty imagery.

His frequent editorial partners include magazines such as W, Allure, Vanity Fair, Glamour UK, Vogue China, Vanity Fair Italia, SELF, Vogue Japan and Vs.

Kenneth has a history of building and maintaining long-standing brand and client relationships. For the past 17 years, he has worked with a number of L’Oreal, including Garnier Fructis, Maybelline New York, and L’Oreal Paris.

His other advertising clients include Chapstick, Christian Dior, Clairol, Clinique, Garnier, Head & Shoulders, Jergens, Max Factor, Neutrogena, Nexxus, Pantene, Revlon, Shiseido, Sunglass Hut, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

Kenneth has also worked on a number of special projects. In 2011, L’Oreal commissioned Kenneth to travel to the 64th annual Cannes Film Festival to photograph an intimate series of portraits of the brand’s most recognizable ambassadors, including Freida Pinto, Jane Fonda and Gwen Stefani. The photographs were compiled into a book entitled Inside Cannes: The Golden Edition, published by teNeues in 2012.

In 2014, Kenneth published a comprehensive collection of beauty, fashion, and celebrity photographs taken throughout his career. The Beauty Book was hailed as a must-own tome for beauty and photography lovers by publications including Glamour and Interview. Sarah Leon of W praised how the book “demonstrate both Willardt’s range as a photographer and the way beauty trends have changed over the years.” The book was released with an accompanying app that allows the user to bring Kenneth’s photographs to life through motion and sound. Mashable applauded Kenneth’s innovation in publishing the “first augmented reality-powered beauty book” with it’s own app.
