I am sick of hearing about Trump. PERIOD. That's why I have been avoiding this thread and parts of the news. There are other stuff going on that deserves attention besides him. He is only a small part of what is happening currently. For someone who has a media background I sometimes despise the media :/

+1 along with his idiotic supporters! But when a man is marred in many controversies and conflicts of interest as he is, it's only going to get worse and roll into the 2018 primaries :ninja: All media outlets, main stream or not are on the boat of covering this guy till he is out!? :banghead: Thank goodness for Netflix and the likes? :p

The most obnoxious times for the media in recent history for me was whenever the media over-focuses on one thing.

1. post-9-11- total obsession with muslims, then war-mongering, then obsession with bush hating.

2. The election of Obama- a junior senator transformed into socialist Jesus- the first half year or so was more worthy of totalitarian media

3. The Great recession- non-stop depression/negative coverage for 3 years.  Then it abated a bit but was still negative for 2 more years.  I believe that the Great Recession's media coverage contributed a lot to the success of Trump in the elections.

4. 2014,2015, 2016 was becoming more positive but now the nonstop Anti-Trump coverage is getting tiresome

The entire Democratic party is miles to the right of anything that might even remotely be described as socialist.

Trumpeting the magic of state power and power of leaders to frictionlessly solve the world's problems are classic socialist propaganda tactics.  The media even shifted towards admiration of Chinese state capitalism for about three years before the Chinese economic recession.

There was a lot of this in Obama's first year.  About how he would generate massive economic growth, create a new "green economy", create victory in class/identity politics for the underdogs. end the war.  This, for the most part, ignored practical realities.

The Obama political campaign was probably the best one in recent history, he definitely invoked Kennedy's thrall over the media for some time.  It employed a lot of urban/community organizing tactics that would make Alinsky proud:

I hear you but he is getting more coverage than needed. News networks are making him a much bigger deal than he is in reality. They are only feeding into his agenda.

The internet (especially with mobile devices and social media) and 24hr news networks has created culture of sensationalizing and creating "news" out of nothing. The lines are heavily blurred and I don't see it changing for the better anytime soon. Besides, provoking fear (whether it is real or not) is a powerful controlling and manipulation tool. Although I don't agree with this tactic but I totally understand its purpose.

Might as well avoid any reputable news site, 99% of the internet, TV, radio and other sources.

I know many great pieces of farm land and/or Hutterite or Mennonite colonies where you can escape such things and ignore the outside world and live a Trump free life.

The media needs to cut down on the Trump tabloid fodder.

Problem is you numerous qualities in Trump that people have been asking for in a President/Political Figurehead for decades mixed with new age crying over the fact that the water that was served to them is .01% warmer than it should be and must be returned and so many people relying on "social media reaction" to speak for everyone or at least the entire internet :cain:. It's the perfect storm for the media and they get to go whatever way they want as long as social media cry babies have a voice at some point

A new document, titled “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action”, was discovered recently that reveals a liberal coalition of business entities and groups and their plans to influence the media and the general public for the 2017-2020 period featuring everything from Russian-conspiracy jargon to anti-Trump dictums.

The four entities are as follows: Media Matters for America, American Bridge, CREW, and Shareblue. Each has their own strategic plan.

It is tough to avoid such things if you live in technological society. Besides I don't know would I want to avoid anything per se b/c avoidance only make things worse. I would say "consume moderately" would be more of an accurate term.
