How many locations do they usually go to? Samantha Hoopes said in this video around the 2:20 mark that she is going to Mexico on Thursday and to Cuba in July:

I was wondering whether one of the trips is for World Swimsuit.

While she may not be the only new member to join the World Swimsuit team, she certainly will make an impact all on her own. This model was born in New Zealand, Auckland to be exact in 1992. She was discovered at a school fair where her brother was also spotted. Although reluctant at first, she soon joined the industry and hasn’t looked back since. She says she loves playing new characters in every shoot and modeling has really helped her get over her shyness. By looking at her pictures you’d never say she was shy growing up and now her face can be seen in the likes of Elle and Glamour. She once stated that it would be a dream to appear in Vogue Italy, a dream she recently made a reality and we can only see her star rising. Brands such as DKNY, Chloe and Urban Outfitters are just some of the names she’s worked with so far and is an avid dancer and loves practicing yoga. Just like us, Zippora loves the ocean and says that if she wasn’t a model she would want to do something protecting and preserving the sea and everything it has to offer.

Much like a summer fling, today was short and sweet. Unlike a summer fling, it was not by design. We had planned to start bright and early with the sunrise, but rain prevented that and our schedule was pushed out by an hour. Thankfully, when the rain stopped the sun made a rare appearance and Gavin and the team got some great shots of Jessica Strother on the beach in front of the resort.

Taking advantage of the sunlight, we grabbed Mia and Jessica to start shooting an exclusive World Swimsuit music video. Set to a classic 90s hip hop track, the girls channelled their inner rap stars and put on an amazing performance.

Mia’s effortless lyrical flow stunned the music video team – all hip hop lovers – and Jess’s natural moves could easily land her a spot on Beyoncé’s crew (maybe they both have alternative careers waiting to be pursued).

Riding a high from the music video shoot, we were hardly affected by the rain that followed. However, it did derail our plans as we were all set to head off to Kampong Gaya water village to continue Jessica Buchanan’s shoot. We did manage to find a few rainless moments and did some social media stuff with bubbly Jess B.

Meanwhile, our fearless producer Genevieve Baretta a.k.a. G-thrilla, and Mia visited Justin (the resident naturalist) to see an owl he had saved. The owl, One-eye, had lost the use of one eye and Justin was nurturing it back to health.

The day ended on a bittersweet note: Mia’s departure. A few of us gathered to have some farewell drinks and it was there that the Wu Kang Clan, headed by Mia a.k.a. Supreme Kommander Kang was born. En route to the jetty, where her boat awaited, a potentially lethal butterfly attack was thwarted by Wu-Kang members General P.M.C. and Major Kaos. Mr Flare provided a beatbox backtrack as she took her final walk down the jetty. Wu-Kang forever.

Meet the World Swimsuit 2016 Borneo Team: Genevieve Morton

Returning this year is another model that’s been with the World Swimsuit team since day one. We would like to welcome back supermodel Genevieve Morton! We’re so excited to have the blonde bombshell back with us for another year of fun, this time in Borneo. Born on 9 July, Genevieve hails from the small town Benoni in Gauteng, South Africa. Genevieve made her name by modeling for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition in 2008. She has since been featured in every edition and joined the World Swimsuit team in 2013. Proving that her success was no fluke, Genevieve made history by becoming the first South African model to model in the international edition of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and hasn’t looked back since. Genevieve has also featured in GQ and SA FHM where their readers voted her their “Sexiest Women in the World in 2012”. Genevieve was the face of Maserati in 2014 and has even made cameos in films and music videos. Her status as one of the world’s best swimsuit models was solidified in 2014 when Sports Illustrated named her “One of the Top 50 Swimsuit Models of all Time!” Wow that’s really impressive and her fan base has rapidly increased which can be seen by her 3 million Facebook fans. Make sure you check her out in our upcoming edition.

Clouds are tricky things. Sometimes they make for beautiful, dramatic backdrops in all their fluffy, puffy glory. Other times they stretch to the horizon like an enormous greyish white blanket, offering little more that flat, white light. Today we had the latter - for the fourth day in a row.

When we arrived for breakfast at 6:45am there was not another guest in sight, but there was food and coffee, wonderful coffee. Fed and fueled, we were ready to get Mia’s final day of shooting done. We had two locations we had to hit for her magazine shots and another two for social media stuff and some video, so we had no time for messing around.

Following the balcony shots with Gavin Bond we were ready to set off the resort’s mangroves when we were hit by a sudden tropical downpour. The rain halted production for about two hours, and a bunch of us used the time to indulge in a tasty second breakfast – it’s the most important meal of the day, so more is better, right? Bellies full, it was time to get mangroovy! Mia hopped on a boat with the photo and video teams and the rest of us grabbed kayaks to paddle out.

Mia, queen of the jungle, was awesome. Up for just about anything, she clambered on mangrove roots and climbed up branches, and didn’t lose her smile once.

Two-this of the video team, Richard Flare Hughes a.k.a. RFH and Paul Michael Charles a.k.a. PMC, interviewed Mia on the resort’s jetty before we all headed off for the day’s final location – Tavajun Bay – where we were filming a special fight scene. Jessica Strother also joined us for some hero shots and social media stuff.

Before we knew it, the day had flown by and the team had been at it for almost 12 hours straight! It was a great day of shooting and the entire team was amazing, never showing even a hint of fatigue.

I feel like it’s good that Mia Kang booked this World Swimsuit shoot. I don’t really feel like I need to see more of her for SI but it’s always nice to see models from model search competitions get more work.

It's funny how some days can feel longer than others, and it becomes difficult to distinguish between the morning and the previous day. Today was one those days. Maybe it was because we headed back to a familiar location, or maybe it was because we shot three different models, but by the end of the day it was all a blur.

Up at 6:30am, it was clear from the get-go that it was going to be a stunning day, perfect for shooting. Our first stop was Kampong Gaya water village, to finish Jessica Buchanan’s shoot. With packed breakfasts in hand, kindly prepared by the wonderful Gaya Island Resort kitchen staff, we boarded a boat and set off. Jessica was fantastic, making light work of the challenging location.

Before moving to our next location, Tavajun Bay, we shot some more footage with Jessica Strother for our music video. We can’t give too much away at this point, other than to say it’s going to be awesome!

Tavajun Bay was spectacular as always, and was made even more so by our latest arrival, Xenia Deli! The smouldering Moldavian jumped straight into it and Gavin went to great lengths, including dangling over the jetty and lying in the shallows fully-clothed, to capture some amazing shots.

We finished off the day with some social media footage and hero shots of Jessica Buchanan who only has two days left on the island!
