^ Just b/c someone is good-looking doesn't mean they can't also be shady. There is definitely something shady about him. I guarantee, eventually we will find out something scandalous about him. I said the same thing about John Edwards when he was first  tapped for VP and look what we found out years later...

But seriously yes, i'm used to think that the Right-wing in France is = to the Left-wing or Center-left in the US ...

And plus, as i said, pretty hard to say noawadays, I AM FROM THAT !

Overal, policals parties are not representing anymore what people think really, so ...because the "polical correctness" especially, and some other kind of censure as well.

The Right - left spectrum is an artificial construct that constantly changes.  The US left today is would be considered right before the 1980s.  Unions and manufacturing used to be a major force (eg. in the 1950s) which effected the political consensus.  The rise of the service sectors and global economy shifted the dialog strongly to the right.  At the same time, social liberalism grew in strength and continues to do so.  Today the US media and public education is dominated by the (modern) left which fuels belief structures while the church and the minority right wing media completes the other side.

In the UK there is something similar (Their right (Tory) is more similar to our 'center left', etc.)  Certain issues, such as global warming ...are considered important by both right and left in the UK but in the US it's only the left.  If is actually jarring for me to pick up eg. the Economist UK (a right wing UK mag) and see so much concern for man made pollution.

There is another aspect:  People who are hard-right or hard-left tend to think that they are a lot more moderate than they really are.  A good example is the Occupy Wall Street protests- a lot of those people had worked on the Obama campaign and felt that he was too "right wing" for them so they turned on him.

I chose center-right.  I had debated on choosing center but I know that my 'head' is right of center.  I am often confused by leftists for being 'right' or conservatives as being 'left'.

I am libertarian/ atheist with a liking of existentialism.  I have a lot of 'torn' leanings.   I find nationalism and socialistic or sociological thinking usually illogical..entirely demeaning to individuals and even groups yet I recognize the need to classify and take action for 'communal' needs.  I am indifferent to environmental issues unless they are of really critical short-term concern.  I recognize both good and bad aspects of the Church.

I see economic reality as being in the right (but not for the most part, the reasons they give for it), but my heart is in the left as I care about human well being and have a positive view of the american people as a whole.   I take the economic situation far more seriously than sociological theory and the government but I support a lot of government actions that promote human well being.    I also have great disdain towards both parties and their contemporary vocabulary/dialogue.    I slot the left wing political media as stupid trash along with the right wing media.  But it's a lot more prevalent/widespread, which makes it more annoying.  I am wary of intellectual corruption/propaganda yet am not an anti-intellectual.  In terms of personal social views- (sex, abortion, etc.) I'm entirely liberal.
