Athiests vs. Agnostics vs. Theist

You are single-handily making me dislike Islam.... and I always thought you had the better book.

We just need to do an experiment AnaBB. How sacrilegious to all religions can we be before one us gets smote?

I masturbated in a church bathroom once... and came. The irony is that while I orgasmed I whispered 'oh god'. :gocho:

I once did unmentionable things with a rosary during sex with my boyfriend. :neo2:

I hope you got poop on it. :ninja:

More than likely.

So it begins, the spawn of Satan that will beget the apocalypse.

18 years, 18 years

She got one of your kids got you for 18 years

And on the 18th birthday he found out it wasn't his

This child will be an empathetic and caring individual. Choosing to stay out of the limelight, this child will give to the community and let others take the rewards.

This childs parents will wonder where they went wrong.

Their business managers will keep a separate ledger for all of the money they earn from this baby… People magazine exclusive spread, new reality spinoff “KIM HAZ A BB”, commercials and sponsored tweets for Huggies, etc.

Kris Jenner is drawing up Wile E. Coyote-style blueprints for a camera and lighting rig installation in Kim’s uterus as we speak.

This is certainly a sign of the Apocalypse, no?

GOD DAMN YOU MAYANS!!!

GOD DAMN YOU MAYANS ALL TO HELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I look at it this way: Kanye is equally enamored of himself, and therefore these two could be blissfully married to one another and not even realize the other person is there. I just hope someone remembers to hire a nanny for the kid.

The Mayans were only off by a week or so. Well played, apocalypse… well played.

I ain’t saying she a gold digger…..oh, wait. Yes, I am.

Kanye West:

You are the father!

Yo! Duchess of Cambridge - I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish and all. You have a cute baby coming, but KIMMY has the BEST baby of all time! OF ALL TIME!

So let me get this straight she's married for 72 days and files for divorce, and then while she is still going through the divorce get impregnated by another guy....... All to stay relevant in the media . Can someone please explain to me again how gay marriage is ruining marriage in this country?

I feel that Taylor Swift should run in the delivery room and just interrupt the big day and write a song about it.

The one glimmer of hope in these post announcement apocalyptic times, Kim's going to get fat:) which gives me a twisted feeling of satisfaction.

Get ready for the douchiest kid ever!

We were too late. Couldn't kill these before they lay eggs...

The K name shouldn't be hard to figure out.

It'll probably be Kmartmcdonaldsimlovinitgeicosavingsguccipradagoldencasinodotcom.

The Muslim looks around the room. "Some interesting points you are making, sir. Now I've got a question for you. Is there such thing as heat?"

"Yes," the professor replies. "There's heat."

Muslim: "Is there such a thing as cold?"

Atheist: "Yes, son, there's cold too."

Muslim: "No sir, there isn't. You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold, otherwise we would be able to go colder than 458 - - You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat sir, just the absence of it. Is there such a thing as darkness, professor?"

Atheist: "That's a dumb question, son. What is night if it isn't darkness? What are you getting at...?"

Muslim: "So you say there is such a thing as darkness?"

Atheist: "Yes..."

Muslim: "You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, Darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker and give me a jar of it. Can you... give me a jar of darker darkness, professor?" My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with and so your conclusion must be in error... You are working on the premise of duality. That for example there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science cannot even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism but has never seen, much less fully understood them. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. "Death is not the opposite of life, merely the absence of it."

The young man (Muslim) holds up a newspaper he takes from the desk of a neighbour who has been reading it.

Muslim: "Here is one of the most disgusting tabloids this country hosts, professor. Is there such a thing as immorality?"

Atheist: "Of course there is, now look..."

Muslim: "Wrong again, sir. You see, immorality is merely the absence of morality. Is there such thing as injustice? No. Injustice is the absence of justice. Is there such a thing as evil?" Isn't evil the absence of good?" If there is evil in the world, professor, and we all agree there is, then God if he exists, must be accomplishing a work through the agency of evil. What is that work God is accomplishing? Islam tells us it is to see if each one of us will, choose good over evil. I would have thought that the absence of God's moral code in this world is probably one of the most observable Phenomena going. Newspapers make billions of dollars reporting it every week!

Tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey? Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?" Professor. Since no-one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a priest?"

Atheist: "I will overlook your impudence in the light of our philosophical discussion. Now, have you quite finished?"

Muslim: "So you don't accept God's moral code to do what is righteous?"

Atheist: "I believe in what is - that's science!"

Muslim: "Ahh! SCIENCE! Sir, you rightly state that science is the study of observed phenomena. Science too is a premise which is flawed... Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen air, oxygen, molecules, atoms, the professor's brain?"

The class breaks out in laughter. The Muslim points towards his elderly, crumbling tutor.

Muslim: "Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain... felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain?" No one appears to have done so.”

The Muslim shakes his head sadly.

Muslim: "It appears no-one here has had any sensory perception of the professor's brain whatsoever. Well, according to the rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science, I DECLARE that the professor has no brain."

Strawman.

For one thing, Catholicism accepts evolution in the Darwinian sense as a reality.

See this text, endorsed by then Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI).

According to the widely accepted scientific account, the universe erupted 15 billion years ago in an explosion called the 'Big Bang' and has been expanding and cooling ever since. Later there gradually emerged the conditions necessary for the formation of atoms, still later the condensation of galaxies and stars, and about 10 billion years later the formation of planets. In our own solar system and on earth (formed about 4.5 billion years ago), the conditions have been favorable to the emergence of life. While there is little consensus among scientists about how the origin of this first microscopic life is to be explained, there is general agreement among them that the first organism dwelt on this planet about 3.5–4 billion years ago. Since it has been demonstrated that all living organisms on earth are genetically related, it is virtually certain that all living organisms have descended from this first organism. Converging evidence from many studies in the physical and biological sciences furnishes mounting support for some theory of evolution to account for the development and diversification of life on earth, while controversy continues over the pace and mechanisms of evolution.[5]

So your fragment of the Sistine Chapel ceiling represents a religion that also believes what the other five images depict.

Why there are as many fit/young/healthy people dying as there are sick/unhealthy?

God: Perfect answer.

Man: Well... Hmmm. Ok we don't know yet but blah, blah, blah.

LMAO God if the perfect answer? Shit, I'll go to the oncology ward and tell them God is making them suffer here just so they can be shiny and new in Heaven.

Gotcha. You really are a wonderful magical person. You are kinda like the Unicorn of humans.,

Not that your post makes sense. But just get back at me when your beloved scientists come up with evidence on what causes healthy people to die.

Corruption of cellular DNA by genetic or environmental factors?

Or my favorite as an agnostic, we are animals and shit happens to all of us but whatevs lol

I don't need more questions, I need answers. Also be sure to ask them why they can't explain certain diseases. You know, religion says, there'll be certain diseases people won't be able to explain let alone cure. And also why the hell books written by men a few endless centuries ago are so knowledgeable about science. And also predicted a thing or two that's happened/happening? It can't be witchcraft and magic because science dismisses those kinda things.

Wouldn't Timmy's dad be the one to blame in this case?

This is another fallacy, the notion that a supreme being would excuse us from personal responsibility.

That's why I didn't take this one, because logic isn't applied here

Turkey is a predominately Muslim country, Sunni to be exact. Turkey is a member of the European Union

No no no :banghead: Turkey is NOT in the EU, and there is no date yet when it will join EU, if it ever will. There are 27 countries in the European Union, and this year Croatia joins. I'd have to check how it is with other countries.

Sorry, just needed to get it straight :ninja:

Also, I don't want to argue about women's rights in Middle East countries but it's not like the whole Europe has always been 'women-friendly' (for the lack of a better word) either. Back in the 70s, Italy had a law which allowed a man to avoid jail if he married his victim.

Why not? Why can't you explain to me why God thinks it's totally dandy to let babies be born with terminal and painful diseases when they haven't even had a chance to sin?

People believe that God gave people free will. So it's up to them whether they use it for good or for bad things.

I completely understand religion can help enrich the lives of those who want or need it. I have no problems with faith. I have a problem with people who automaically answer God for any unaswerable question. My family believes and I have no issue with them but they understand that people like myself and most of my friends believe in no such thing. I can't say there is NO higher force than caused us into being. It could be energy. It could be "God". I just simply do not think a father like figure put us on this ball of dirt and judges us for what we do or do not do. I cannot nor do I want to believe in a higher power that can be so cruel to let innocent children suffer or let people be raped or murdered.

We all have different views on the subject and I understand your dilemma with your father. But you unlike some people, know how to logically hold a discussion and for that I applaud you!

I understand. I think it is really difficult to be a deeply religious person, as not everything is so black and white.

And thank you!

I guess dreamss is the closest with the answer-testing humans' faith? Or you just believe that everything happens for a reason, whether it's logical or not.

Faith is the strongest thing in the world... I believe everything happens for a reason, and that reason is God's decision.

I so appreciate your whole post.

This is another thing- the christian concept of 'free will' is very much a doctrine oriented/ surface way of seeing the world without much context.

A psychologist/neuroscientist/sociologist/artificial intelligence modeler/liberal economist/decision sciences academic, etc. would see things in a far deeper and more complicated way. eg. Childhood development, circumstances & society, decision framework, mental illness & culture, economic station, etc. as factoring into human decision making. The underpinnings of all this is the psychological/neurological state of the individual as they face their decisions. So 'free will' becomes less and less free, and more predictable, like how one can predict how an animal would react to various stimuli.

In this case, it's the human animal.

This is another fallacy, the notion that a supreme being would excuse us from personal responsibility.

People believe that God gave people free will. So it's up to them whether they use it for good or for bad things.

The boundary lines of mental illness or disorder vary as well, as it is linked with the culture & expectations of one's society. Different societies have different accumulated norms and practices.

For instance, I think you guys are raving mad, but at least I understand why you are...;)

Ummmm....It was a sarcastic question hun but it is my personal opinion that people who dismiss science (that is obviously backed with evidence) are blind. Most of the illness or are caused by environmental factors or genetic. Only a few are "mysterious" illnesses. What humans are now doing is trying to find a cure and they have succeeded quite well in a lot of areas of medicine.

Arguing with you is so fun though! I love being being preached.I wonder if I record myself shitting on every religious text and post it on the internet, how fucking crazy would the extremely religious get?

But don't worry dude, preach until you are blue, I honestly don't give a shit, that's the reason I'm agnostic. The next time I treat a patient, I'll just tell them God caused everything he/she is going through and science had no hand in the fucking matter.

Sonoma Developmental Center Faces Sanctions Amid Abuse Claims

California's largest institution for the developmentally disabled risks losing millions of dollars in federal funding because of poor medical care and widespread failures to prevent abuse and thoroughly investigate when patients are harmed, state officials said in a confidential report.

The Department of Public Health inspection report presented a damning indictment of the Sonoma Developmental Center, which houses more than 500 people with cerebral palsy and other intellectual disabilities. Normally such reports are kept from the public, but California Watch obtained a copy of the 495-page document this week.

"Individuals have been abused, neglected, and otherwise mistreated and the facility has not taken steps to protect individuals and prevent reoccurrence," the report said. "Individuals were subjected to the use of drugs or restraints without justification. Individual freedoms have been denied or restricted without justification."

According to the report, the board-and-care institution must immediately upgraded

On Nov. 22, patient Jean Erquiaga consumed part of a "soft knit shirt," according to an internal incident report. Erquiaga had long been diagnosed with pica, swallowing disposable diapers in years past, a concern caregivers were aware of.

Erquiaga began vomiting and, five days after eating the fabric, the center took the patient to Sonoma Valley Hospital, the internal record shows. Doctors operated on Erquiaga to remove material that had formed a bowel blockage.

Sonoma center records show Erquiaga died of respiratory failure on Dec. 1.

(Part of the story, don't want to post is all, as I'm close to the situation in refrence to work) Stun gun like a cattle prod assaulted a dozen patients last fall at the Sonoma Developmental Center, inflicting painful thermal burns on their buttocks, arms, legs and backs.

“Stupidity—The top of the list for Satanic Sins. The Cardinal Sin of Satanism. It’s too bad that stupidity isn’t painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity. It depends on people going along with whatever they are told. The media promotes a cultivated stupidity as a posture that is not only acceptable but laudable. Satanists must learn to see through the tricks and cannot afford to be stupid.”

I hope you are not including me in the "mad" group, my dear Cult? lol

I think it is kinda funny that God has so many loopholes for his rules though.
