Legendary Pulls Plug on Bradley Cooper's 'Paradise Lost' The company scraps plans to bring the classic poem to the big screen with the "Hangover" actor in the leading role.

Ty Warren Promoted to Executive Vice President for Legendary EntertainmentFrank Miller's 'Holy Terror' to Launch Legendary Pictures Comic Book Offshoot The movie was to have been directed by Alex Proyas and to have starred Bradley Cooper as Lucifer. The rest of the cast included Djimon Hounsou, Casey Affleck, Benjamin Walker, Camilla Belle and Rufus Sewell.

The project couldn’t overcome, according to sources, two hand-in-hand challenges: budget and special effects. The budget was more than $120 million and was responsible for one postponement already.

Legendary has been looking to make more movies on its own and away from the slate-financing business that had been its bread and butter. The company is in production on Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim and is developing the supernatural fantasy Seventh Son. But Legendary is realizing it needs to be more fiscally prudent in the movies it greenlights.

Legendary also realized that in order to effectively bring to life Milton’s war between heaven and hell, it was going to need Avatar-like special effects. But Avatar-like effects call for an an Avatar-like budget, and execs realized the technology wasn’t there to make the movie in the budget range in which they were working.

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana rekindle romance with PDA-heavy outing with actress' family

A-list lovebirds get close to catch a game, although one insider says Saldana insists she's single and Cooper recently went out with Scarlett Johansson

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana reportedly dated for about three months before splitting in March.

Is Bradley Cooper playing us all — or just Zoe Saldana ?

According to a source, the hunky actor looked like he had rekindled his romance with the “Avatar” actress on Sunday afternoon. The 34-year-old beauty had arrived at a soccer-viewing brunch hosted by nightlife impresario Rocco Ancarola at Boom in SoHo on Spring St. She was accompanied by her grandmother, mother, stepfather and younger sister Cisley , and then Cooper joined the party at a large table.

Right after Saldana’s family “were all settled in” and started to order, the eyewitness says, Cooper arrived and began kissing and hugging all of the family members.

When they split in March, reports suggested it was Cooper who pulled the plug. The couple reportedly dated for about three months, though they never confirmed the relationship publicly.

But things seem to have heated up again between the former lovebirds. After greeting Saldana’s family warmly, the 37-year-old “Hangover” star sat in her chair with her, and the actress spent the rest of the afternoon planted on his lap. The eyewitness says the couple were kissing “quite passionately throughout” Spain’s 4-0 defeat of Italy in the Euro 2012 final.

A source close to Saldana, however, says she’s telling confidantes she’s “totally single” and the attractive twosome are not back together, despite Sunday’s displays of affection. The actress has been spending time in New York filming “Blood Ties” which also stars Mila Kunis and Clive Owen , but the Saldana source said she departed for Paris — without Cooper — on Monday, and was photographed attending fashion shows in the French capital.

The pair, first seen together at a New Year’s Eve bash less than two months after Saldana called off her engagement to actor Keith Britton , also had dinner at East Village Mexican restaurant Empellon Cocina at the end of May, suggesting a potential reconciliation. Two weeks later, however, Cooper was spotted having dinner with his “He’s Just Not That Into You” co-star Scarlett Johansson in California, sparking rumors he was interested in Scar-Jo, who has been dating advertising executive Nate Naylor since the fall.

Regardless of Saldana and Cooper’s status, they’ll soon be spending a significant amount of time together as they promote their movie “The Words,” in which they play lovers.

The thriller, which comes out in September and was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January, also stars Olivia Wilde , who was linked to Cooper in March 2011, after he split from longtime girlfriend Renee Zellweger .

A spokesman for Saldana and a spokeswoman for Cooper did not get back to us by deadline

Anupam to play Bradley’s shrink

After Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan, both of whom had rather brief appearances in major Hollywood blockbusters, the latest Indian actor to look West is Anupam Kher. Anupam is set to star in The Silver Linings Project, a big budget blockbuster involving such A-listers like Robert de Niro, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film — an adaptation of Mathew Quick’s debut novel Pat Peoples — will have Anupam playing a therapist who treats Bradley’s character. And from the first promos of the film, we can tell you that not only does Anupam make a decent-sized appearance, he also has dialogues in it!

The Scoop: Bradley Cooper visits the Berkshires

Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper has landed in the Berkshires.

People maggie’s reigning Sexiest Man Alive will return to the stage to appear in “The Elephant Man” at the Williamstown Theatre Festival July 25 to Aug. 5. Book your seats ASAP!

So far, BCoop has been spotted around the bucolic Berkshire town by the locals, checking out the Williams College campus and posing for photos when asked by fans.

Last week, he spoke at a press conference alongside his co-star, veteran actress Patricia Clarkson, at the Williams Inn.

“WTF is Utopia. The play runs for just so many performances — not six months. You focus and it’s done. I love that,” he told the crowd, iBerkshires.com reported. “I did a Broadway play and it was wonderful but brutal. I love Williamstown — the college campus. ... You have your little routine, and I’m staying in the same place I did three years ago.”

By the way, don’t fret that Bradley’s marvy mug will be covered up with prosthetics in order to play the Elephant Man. Turns out the stage version of the play, written by Bernard Pomerance, doesn’t require any prosthetics. Well, bra-vo!

Actor Ken Jeong returning for 'Hangover III' ... with a much bigger rol

Ken Jeong is going to have another Hangover.

The actor, best known for his portrayal of the erratic, effeminite Leslie Chow in the Todd Philips "Hangover" franchise, is joining the cast for a third round, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The triple threat--he’s a doctor, a standup comic, and now an actor--is in scheduling talks to avoid complications with his other big Hollywood role of the moment as Ben Chang on the NBC sit-com "Community."

Filming for Jeong’s small-screen role begins in August, and will conflict briefly with shooting for "Hangover III," slated for filming this fall, according to The Reporter.

The actor graduated from high school at 16 and completed a medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He developed his stand-up routine while in residency at Ochsner Medical Center in Louisiana, and has since landed roles in Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, Despicable Me, and Transformers.

Sources told The Reporter that Jeong would have a larger role in the flick, although Warners is reportedly remaining tight-lipped about the plot.

Actors Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, and Ed Helms have also agreed to the third movie. Hangover III is set for release Memorial Day of 2013.

In Limitless, the screen adaptation of Alan Glynn’s techno-thriller novel The Dark Fields, executive producer and star Bradley Cooper plays a down on his luck writer, just dumped by his beautiful girlfriend (Abbie Cornish), who gets hooked on a mysterious drug called NZT, which boosts his capacity to focus, calculate, and act with super-human clarity. His newfound intellect vaults him into the highest ranks of corporate power brokering alongside a veteran financial tycoon (Robert DeNiro) until side-effects and new, mysterious enemies once more plunge him into desperation. The film is smart and slick, and had its own underdog-on-top moment at the box office last weekend, with an opening gross of $19 million. We spoke to Cooper about how he wooed DeNiro, his fast food indulgence, and how this May’s sequel to The Hangover still has him reeling.

ELLE: Pre-NZT Eddie is a disheveled wannabe author. You studied English at Georgetown—did you ever rock Eddie’s schlubby writer look?

BC: Yeah, I had really long hair all through college. And I definitely walked around with Nabokov’s Lolita in my jacket pocket for a year. Stuff like that.

ELLE: What are you reading these days?

BC: Right now I’m rereading The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons, who is just the greatest sci-fi writer.

ELLE: After taking NZT, Eddie goes from schmuck to stud. After all the training and filming on a movie like Limitless or A-Team is over, do you ever just ditch the gym and pig out? BC: Well, it always depends on what the role requires, but I’ve definitely been eating my share of pappardelle pasta and Egg McMuffins lately.

ELLE: Post-NZT Eddie becomes a stock market wunderkind. Your dad was a stockbroker. Did any of him sneak into your character?

BC: Oh yeah, a huge amount, actually. I spent most of my childhood attempting to dress, look and talk like a stockbroker—like my father. So I was very comfortable in that role.

ELLE: I hear that Robert De Niro is a man of few words. Did you guys talk on your down time?

BC: Yeah. I don’t know why, but he isn’t a man of few words with me. We just talk about everything.

ELLE: Had you met him before?

BC: I’d met him a few times—I asked him a question when he came in to the Actors Studio, which is where I went to school after Georgetown. And when I was a judge at the Tribeca Film Festival, which he co-founded, I had lunch with him and with like 40 other people. He didn’t remember any of those things.

ELLE: This was your first movie as executive producer, which meant you had to pitch to DeNiro to bring him on board as Carl, a financial tycoon who enlists Eddie’s services. How’d you feel making the pitch?

BC: I was excited and beyond nervous. But what I knew about him was that he’s not a big small talker, so when I sat down there was no “How’d your flight go?” or “How’s the weather in LA.” It was just: “So. You’d play Carl Van Loon…”

ELLE: What do people quote back to you the most—Wet Hot American Summer, Wedding Crashers, or The Hangover?

BC: Wedding Crashers. “Crab cakes and football, that’s what Maryland does!”

ELLE: The Hangover Part II opens in May. The original was wild, but we hear this one ups the ante even more. BC: The hardest shoot I’ve ever done, by far, not even comparable. I thought nothing would be harder than A-Team, but this was. I don’t know why. Todd Phillips, the director, feels the same way, and so do Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms feel the same way. One thing people won’t say is that we just walked through this movie. We put it out there, man. God, we killed ourselves.

Old but nice :)
