COP11 Posted April 11, 2010 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Born Dixie Virginia Carter on May 25, 1939 in McLemoresville, Tennessee. Ms. Carter is best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker in "Designing Women". She was nominated for an emmy for her role as Gloria Hodge in "Desperate Housewives". I was saddened to hear she passed away last night. April 10, 2010. She was a true Southern Lady and never forgot her roots. Her last film was made in the summer of 2008, "That Evening Sun".
