Atheists & Schizoid Personality Disorder

"In my work as a school councillor I have met many young people, and

often their parents, of different beliefs and different problems. I will not

state my specific place of work, as the secular public school system

makes that exposure a threat to my job once I publicize this message; I

hope you understand. I have generally noticed that the people, students

and parents alike, who are non-religious or explicitly atheist more often

tend to act different in general than faithful Christians, and not just in terms

of adherence to morals, mind you. The deliberate non-believers often are

generally less expressive with their face and voice; they don't seem to care

much when authorities or peers speak well or badly of them, as they

attribute it to the traits of the person(s) that speaks of them, not one's self;

they are distrustful of others, especially authorities, who are usually the

most trustworthy of all people; they tend to keep things to themself, both

incriminating and innocent, and especially things that are pleasurable (not

just socially-unacceptable pleasures, mind you) and/or powerful (not just

socially-unacceptable powers, mind you, such as having an illegal

weapon); they reject involvement in their pleasures and pursuits by their

neighbors, especially their parents, who should be involved most of all,

and they do not use their facial expression, tone of voice, or words to

express their joys with others, except for the occasional scrunch-browed

smile that they are clearly trying to 'hold in'. Those are classical traits of

schizoid personality disorder, which is classified by the number 301.20 in

the DSM-IV, which is the official reference for psychological disorders.

Schizoids are supposedly often the relatives of schizophrenics, though I

have not personally noticed such a pattern, but in any case, schizoid

character is a type of insanity, but unlike schizophrenia it is an aspect of

the soul. So far as I've seen, only atheists have those traits, as

distinguished from unorthodox Christians, Muslims, Jews, and deists. I

therefore belief that ALL people that believe in a single all-powerful God

will be sent to heaven during the tribulation, though those that do not

accept the nicene creed must face trials of purification in purgatory."

This tells it is Bullshit even without reading it.

NEVER believe religious propaganda!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I do not dismiss claims by seeing the word "religious" or "Christian".

Usually, I tend to see which part is wrong and where it is wrong.

As much as I hate superstitious people, I hated skeptics who just dismiss everything, at the mere signs of "supernatural" beings. You must always study it with an open mind, sometimes the person might just be right.

If they are indeed saying "bullshit", then what are you scared of?

They might be scared of you exposing their bullshit, but you have nothing to be scared of. Unless of course, you are the source of bullshit.

The Checklist, according to the above article:

-less expressive with their face and voice

Check!

-they don't seem to care much when authorities or peers speak well

or badly of them, as they attribute it to the traits of the person(s) that

speaks of them, not one's self

Check!

-they are distrustful of others, especially authorities, who are usually the

most trustworthy of all people

Check!

-they tend to keep things to themself, both

incriminating and innocent, and especially things that are pleasurable (not

just socially-unacceptable pleasures, mind you) and/or powerful (not just

socially-unacceptable powers, mind you, such as having an illegal

weapon)

Maybe

-they reject involvement in their pleasures and pursuits by their

neighbors, especially their parents, who should be involved most of all,

Check!

-they do not use their facial expression, tone of voice, or words to

express their joys with others, except for the occasional scrunch-browed

smile that they are clearly trying to 'hold in'.

Check!

-schizoid character is a type of insanity,

Check! Yes, I am aware that I am insane.

This is the diagnostic criteria of schizoids, according to Wikipedia.

A pervasive pattern of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of expression of emotions in interpersonal settings, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by four (or more) of the following:

1. neither desires nor enjoys close relationships, including being part of a

family Check!

2. almost always chooses solitary activities Check!

3. has little, if any, interest in having sexual experiences with another person. Maybe

4. takes pleasure in few, if any, activities. Check!

5. lacks close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives. Check!

6. appears indifferent to the praise or criticism of others. Check!

7. shows emotional coldness, detachment, or flattened affectivity. Maybe

HOLY SHIT!!!

There is a population avergae of <1% (closer to 1/2%) of schizos. How many relatives does this account for?

Now where does he live and how many people could he possibly see?

It seems to me this guy is a jackass and maybe if he was so convinced, he should run some experiements. What's he got to lose? He has the right credentials. Maybe he could make some money publishing his report? Or more likely he'd be called an idiot.

I really want to copy and paste this comment. But, doing so, would inevitably cause me to get banned.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Everytime I do a checklist of personality disorder, I will usually get positive results (not in a good way). I bet I have FRD (Fucking Retarded Disorder) too.

Below is the diagnostic criteria for Oppositional Defiant Disorder:

Diagnostic Criteria:

1. A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least 6 months, during which four (or more) of the following are present:

1. often loses temper, often argues with adults, often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules class, often deliberately annoys people, often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior, is often touchy or easily annoyed by others, is often angry and resentful

2. is often spiteful or vindictive

I almost fit every single criteria.

Is it just me or is this the Barnum Effect at work?

I do not dismiss claims by seeing the word "religious" or "Christian".

As much as I hate superstitious people, I hated skeptics who just dismiss everything, at the mere signs of "supernatural" beings. You must always study it with an open mind, sometimes the person might just be right.

They might be scared of you exposing their bullshit, but you have nothing to be scared of. Unless of course, you are the source of bullshit.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Why are these claims written?? Because it is the truth?? NO! The writer her/himself knows it is not true. She/he wrote that to manipulate less intelligent people.

I am scared because by definition 50% of people have an IQ of 100 or below. They fall easily to these claims.

The IQ test measures nothing.

I am very convinced that at least 70% of the population can be considered as smart, if only they had been given the right education.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The IQ test doesn't measure nothing, but it gives a fair indicator of a person's intellect. However there are factors which it doesn't measure.

Also, having the right education and environment is critical to a person's IQ development.

What's the question about the Barnum effect? The DSM can be a abit broad for a lot of descriptions and Oppositional Disorder basically classifies pre-pubescant children that are particularly naughty. It is a disorder based on purely on statistics. That is ~5% of naughty kids have OD by definition.

So don't be too concerned if others can't call you a young brat :D

IQ tests measures the ability to do well IQ tests. A proper IQ test is designed so that a person needs intelligence to do well.

Education makes people wiser, not more intelligent (education has only minor influence on intelligence).

Normally there is bias, but sometimes they have an intelligent point to make. I say let the message do the talking, but sometimes I'm with you and I'd dismiss the message based on it's origin (which is not a good thing, I'm just not interested in what they have to say)

The APA sometimes release papers that are wrong as well, though chances are it won't be as many as something read from a Chritian Forum. Sometimes, things papers are proved wrong in hindsight, or because of some statistical errors.

Don't trust everything based on authority or its source :p
