Cult Icon Posted July 13, 2020 Share Posted July 13, 2020 I've been listening to "Old Path, White Clouds" (biography of the Buddha, siddhartha gautama) out of ancient Pali sources. Gautama is a superman who can do everything so much better than everyone else, to the point where I cringe. It's hard to tell what was real and what was embellished after 2,500 years. And, just as important, what was left out from the Buddha's enlightenment quest (took only 5 + years, and by his 7th year he already established a Sanga of 1,200 followers and their own land grant). The book "After Buddhism" explores the gap between legend and what are confirmed facts. If the Buddha did his work today at least we would have a far more detailed and accurate biography of him.
