I just don't understand why there is this resurgence in victim mentality happening. I'm so dismayed by everything that's happening lately and I'm frustrated that I can't do anything to change it.

Same.

your reply about the return to the victim mentality  made me think of this, from the great Sam Axe from Burn Notice.

Sir Charles speaks the truth.

Charles Barkley: “Sports Has Turned Into a Circus and Fans May Never Come Back”

Barkley is the Ricky Gervais of sports -- he "gets it" and totally understands how average Americans feel.

Well, I can tell you this much…Charles Barkley “gets it.”

This man understands exactly how American people feel. Because believe it or not, the majority of people watching sports are not granola-eating soy boys who support “feminism” and gender-neutral bathrooms.

Americans tune into sports to get a break from all this political mumbo-jumbo, but now, thanks to the “WOKE” liberals, it’s being shoved down our gullets at every turn.

All I can say is this…Sports in America is heading down the exact same path as Hollywood did.

Hollywood decided to make every movie and awards show about politics and social justice and look at what happened to them…they have no ratings, US box office numbers are so bad they need Chinese people to fund their movies and celebrities went from being these really “cool icons” to literal laughingstocks.

Mark my words, that is exactly where sports are heading.

From Hot Air

“I think we’re missing the point,” Charles Barkley told CNBC yesterday about the role of sports — and the fans — in the current unrest. Without a doubt, the NBA Hall of Famer said, we need police reform, but that should mean “good cops out there policing the bad cops. … My concern is turning this into a circus instead of trying to do some good stuff.”

If professional sports leagues think they’ll get there by shoving the argument into fans’ faces constantly, Barkley thinks they might just talk themselves out of a job. “They [the fans] don’t want to see a bunch of rich people talking about stuff all the time,” Barkley said. “These people have lost their jobs, they’re struggling financially, they’re not going to get their jobs back. And the last thing they want to do is turn on the television and hear arguments about stuff all the time.”

The term “get woke, go broke,” is popular for a reason.

No company who suddenly got “WOKE” is sitting there rolling in the dough and fighting off hordes of customers who are praising them for taking a social stand.

Sorry, it’s just not happening.

Even NIKE, the “wokest of the woke ” dopes just lost almost $800 million and counting.

When will these liberals learn?

I've been listening to "Old Path, White Clouds" (biography of the Buddha, siddhartha gautama) out of ancient Pali sources.   Gautama is a superman who can do everything so much better than everyone else, to the point where I cringe.

It's  hard to tell what was real and what was embellished after 2,500 years. And, just as important, what was left out from the Buddha's enlightenment quest (took only 5 + years, and by his 7th year he already established a Sanga of 1,200 followers and their own land grant).  The book "After Buddhism" explores the gap between legend and what are confirmed facts.  If the Buddha did his work today at least we would have a far more detailed and accurate biography of him.
