Buro 24/7 Fashion Forward Initiative - Cocktail Event at The Peninsula on September 24, 2014 in Paris

REALITY BITES: Russian designer Natalia Alaverdian made her entrée on the Paris fashion scene with a party on Wednesday night that involved a Kardashian family reunion, a stuffed tiger and lashings of caviar.

Kim Kardashian, Miroslava Duma, Caroline de Maigret and PR guru Melvin Chua co-hosted a presentation for the spring collection for Alaverdian’s label A.W.A.K.E. in a sixth-floor suite at the brand-new Peninsula hotel in Paris.

The space, decorated with fur throws, black ostrich feathers and the aforementioned tiger, was quickly churning with editors and guests such as Antoine Arnault and Natalia Vodianova, Giancarlo Giammetti, Giambattista Valli, Delfina Delettrez, Theophilus London and Anthony Vaccarello.

......

Vodianova said she had only recently discovered the label. “I’m all for more designers coming from Russia, kind of stepping out of their bubble and embracing the world. I think the success of Ulyana Sergeenko has given a lot of other Russian designers a hope that they can also make it,” the Russian model said.

THAT’S A WRAP: Still celebrating the 40th anniversary of her historic wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg unveiled a new shop window at Galeries Lafayette on Wednesday night, in concert with Paris fashion week.

The display features six works of art handpicked by the designer, including a painting of Anna Wintour by Alex Katz, another one of Franca Sozzani by Julian Schnabel as well as photograph of Natalia Vodianova taken by François-Marie Banier.

“I have 30-something of Diane’s wrap dresses in my closet, including one Diane did for me especially for my first Love Ball in Moscow in 2008,” said the model, who turned out for the inaugural cocktail.

Von Furstenberg, whose image embellished by Takashi Murakami is also part of the artsy exhibit, said she could not remember how many times she posed for an artist, but said her favorite was the cover of Interview Magazine that she shot when she was 30 years old.

“I left my hair wet, so it was curly, and I looked at it and said: ‘Ah, it’s OK to leave it like this,’” she mused.

Paris Fetes Peter Lindbergh Exhibition

By Laure Guilbault

RIGHT ANGLE: The fashion community feted the opening of Peter Lindbergh’s exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Paris Thursday night.

Paolo Roversi, Peter Dundas, Nicholas Kirkwood and a flurry of models — like Natalia Vodianova, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls and Andreea Diaconu – were among the attendees.

The show features large-scale works emphasizing the glamour of Lindbergh’s models such as Kate Moss and Nadja Auermann.

"It's hard to make a choice that identifies you. The exhibition tells who I am," said Lindbergh of his edit.

"We have never worked together, but he is part of my fashion culture," said Emilio Pucci designer Peter Dundas. "I think his work is integrated in all designers' works in a way."

"We arrived in Paris and started at the same time, in 1973, along with Steve Hiett," said Roversi. "We are the musketeers."

For his part, Roversi has a book in the works on Vodianova.

"We have been friends since the beginning," Lindbergh added. "In fact, Paolo came over for dinner last weekend."

"I like the idea of abstract works mixed together with models, etcetera," said Vodianova while taking in the show.

"His photos are timeless," mused Kloss, who recalled her first shoot with Lindbergh at age 18. "It was for the American Vogue, with Tonne Goodman. We were running in the streets of New York."

Diaconu shared a memory of a more adventurous shoot with Lindbergh: "I burned my leg. It wasn't his fault. It was very hot outside, in Joshua Tree."
