EXCLUSIVE: WE CATCH UP WITH MIRANDA KERR

AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL WITH MAGNUM

By Katherine Ormerod

Supermodel, nutrition expert, mother and beauty entrepreneur Miranda Kerr is the template of modern virtue. Inspiring women around the world with her yoga addiction, introducing us to the power of chia seeds and spreading the message of female empowerment, it’s little wonder the dimpled Aussie was ranked as the third highest earning model in the world (tied with Kate Moss) by Forbes last year. With recent collaborations and campaigns for Maybelline, Swarovski, H&M and Mango, as well as two self-help books and her Kora Organics range, she’s one of the industry’s most successful model moguls – as well as the personification of LA-style modern spiritual wellness.

So we were a little surprised to hear that she was in Cannes as an ambassador to luxury frozen treat specialists Magnum. ‘Indulgence is good for soul!’ Miranda protests, when I ask her about the collaboration. ‘I’ve studied nutrition and have made my own plan – 80% healthy, 20% indulgence. You have to feed your body with the right nutrients, but you also have to have fun and please in life.’ We couldn’t agree more.

Another aspect of the Magnum collaboration is the two new flavours of summer – or sides to your personality - one represented by Magnum black (espresso infused chocolate and more sophis), the other by Magnum pink (a raspberry flavour, tuning into your more playful side). ‘I definitely felt an affinity to the idea that you can be sophisticated, elegant and more business-like but also more fun and playful.’ If she had to choose one side, which would she punt for? ‘Playful, for sure! That’s me playing or drawing with my son, or on set doing headstands and cartwheels backstage.’

As for other indulgences, Miranda confessed a penchant for ‘French fries from time to time. And triple cream goats cheese! I love cheese.’ During the press conference she also mentions taking a bath with a Magnum black and glass of champagne – so it’s not all spirulina shakes.

Of course it’s not just the health food kick that keeps Miranda so impressively trim – she’s a dedicated yoga practitioner with the ability to contort her body into all sorts of implausible shapes. ‘I really love kundalini yoga because it’s so good for the mind as well. You can go online and get Gurmukh’s DVD.’ Her top tip is however to connect with the exercise you do, ‘The number one most important thing is to find a type of exercise that works for you. It totally depends. It’s not about what works for me – it’s about what makes you feel good. For me lately I’ve also got into exercising on the trampoline which is really fun and I can do it with my son Flynn and I do like yoga and pilates. But some of my friends really like running, and that’s what makes them feel great. When you find the exercise that works for you, it’s not such a chore.’ Miranda also recommends getting an exercise buddy, ‘Then if you don’t feel like it, you think, ‘I can’t let my friend down’ and you’ll end up going. It’s very effective!’

Part of her body and soul mentality, Miranda is also a major proponent of spiritual discipline. ‘I feel like it’s a daily process of waking up and having an attitude of gratitude and saying ‘Thank you so much for this day. Thank you for this gift of life, and for friends and family. Thank you for my health,’ and just being appreciative and grateful.’ She also recommends carrying affirmation cards at all times.  ‘They help me if I’m feeling a little stuck. Those moments when you just feel ‘ugh’, I just flick through the cards until I find one that’s good and connects with me at that moment.’

While she has recently said that she doesn’t have time for dating – after her spilt in 2013 from husband Orlando Bloom, the father of her four year old son Flynn, she has been officially single, despite rumours of a relationship with Australian billionaire James Packer – she’s certainly been keeping busy. ‘There’s a lot going on right now. I’m designing for Swaorvski – my little charms for them come out around August – that’s something that I’ve really enjoyed collaborating on. Also I’m still designing tea cups for Royal Albert. I use them everywhere – taking the time for tea is so special and reminds me of beautiful moments with my grandma. It’s also really feminine and I really believe in embracing that feminine side of yourself and not feeling embarrassed of that part of your personality.’

Do you remember the teaser of Miranda's mysterious session in Korea ?

She was shooting for CRES. E DIM. a designer brand from Seoul. So far there are no details if this is a campaign or just a random editorial with their clothes.

CHRISTMAS BUYING EARLY FOR SWAROVSKI REDDITCH

post-22656-0-46840900-1432206818_thumb.ppost-22656-0-46499300-1432206971_thumb.p

Christmas came early for the Luxury Essentials Team as we travelled to London for the Christmas 2015 Swarovski Buying Event. Here Swarovski showcased their new Autumn/Winter Collections including a couple of collections personally designed by Swarovski ambassador and Victoria Secrets supermodel  Miranda Kerr. With a global and very on-trend brand like Swarovski it is essential to be prepared for the all important Christmas season. This year we are carrying an even broader product collection, and stocking in depth to make sure we are able to meet the growing demand for Swarovski and to ensure everyone has a sparkling Christmas! This was our first chance to see the new TV advertising, and talk about future plans.

So basically she was invited only to sell ice cream at Cannes? Should have been allowed to attend a film premiere at least

I am disappointed that  Swarovski didn't invite her to Cannes either in this year or in 2014.

So many lovely adds. She knows how to do events, doesn't she?

Yes, she does rhythm%20is%20a%20dancer.gif  That's why I don't understand why Heidi Klum did more events for Clear than Miranda (in 2015 we only has one TV commercial and one poster). Probably it's true that Miranda is no longer spokesperson for Qantas, they hired Jessica Hart as trend consultant. Few sources called Miranda

" former ambassador ", also her pictures were removed from their site. One tiny spot and few pics, seriously that's all? John Travolta had much more. Also I would like to see Miranda in new fragrance campaign, at first I was very excited about Escada Joyful but a year has passed and they haven't created anything new ( Bar Refaeli had two campaigns and more events). Sometimes I have a feeling that each of her new project is " wow " at the beginning and later everything become bland and predictable. At least she is very active promoting Reebok Skyscape and Samantha Thavasa, so we have a lot of campaigns, commercials and regular events in Asia.

I wish the second part of the year was better, still hope for Vogue cover :cain:

I'm starting to feel the problem is with her?! like she's the one who doesn't want to have that much events or work around anymore? I'm confused about it and very sad at the same time. Because when she left Victoria's Secret, she made me feel like she has plenty of campaigns and work to do and has so little time, but it doesn't seem like that at all. I terribly miss when we had photoshoots, editorials and campaigns... this thread was always very active. At the end, if that's what she wants, than I hope she happy :cain:

I think you're right DitaDiamondis. And it's not only about events. Miranda reluctantly leaving US. I miss her outdoors editorials like the one she did in Switzerland for Spanish Elle. I've noticed that while she was living in New York most of her shoots took place there ( TV commercials for Clear, Reebok, Swarovski, Escada, Takano Yuri, Shopstyle and music video with Bobby Fox ), even in her apartment ( Net A Porter, Royal Albert, Easter video for Love magazine ). Now the same situation is with LA ( the latest Samantha Thavasa campaign or session for Harper's Bazaar Australia ).

miranda gets no attention anymore... her time is over, she should just stop with the embarrassing events such as magnum and all the japanese rubbish... she is looking so desperate. she was dropped by victorias secret for being a diva and i bet she is regretting her attitude cause that was the best thing for her. cant believe people actually believe that she left VS... no model would leave such a successful company just to do crappy things like shes doing now.

VS is the little league man... Miranda still walk during Fashion Week events. Miranda is doing crappy things ? Well let' s talk about Alessandra Ambrosio's work for exemple : except VS, what is she doing that is really good ? And Erin Heatherton, Lindsay Ellingson, Lily Aldridge ? VS doesn't make the model, it's the model who makes VS and Miranda is a real loss for them ( as same as Doutzy ).

You can't say that she's doing crappy work, she does what she wants. Swarovski is a great brand, she is everywhere in the streets, same when she was working with Mango and H&M

" no model would leave such a successful company " Of course they would ! Why ? Hum... Well... To do real things ? Real things like walking for real good brands. The Etam show is way better, with real models like Pauline Hoarau, Antonina Petkovic and others.

EDiT: You know that Karlie Kloss left VS right ? She's still on top, and you know why мой друг ? 'Cause she is waaayyy too big for them ! Don't say that Ambrosio and Lima are big 'cause they're not anymore, VS is all they got left. Sad but True

Hmm.What will u say to the fact that Lima is the most succesfull model right now in VS?She is face of Versace,Marc Jacobs, also new face of Marc Jacobs fragrance, face of Vogue Eyewear,Balmain,H&M,Veet and etc.And also renewed her contract with Maybelline? Last year she scored 6 Vogue covers, not counting HP and etc. What about Miranda? What she got exept cheap campaigns like Samatha Thavasa or being ambassador for washing powder?I adore both of them. But Miranda's carrier is nothing if comparing to Adriana's.And this year,if not mistaken, she just walked for Sonia Rykeil and thats all.She was called to Cannes only to promote icecream, while Adriana and Karlie were co chairs of Amfar Gala.Thats the difference

She's still on top of the fashion world, you may not like it now but that's the truth мой друг. Yep Miranda walked for Sonia Rykiel only, but tell me for who Lima walked ? I have nothing against her ( but I don't like her I admit ) but for me she's got less attention than Miranda. I admit that her Haute Couture work is inexistant, but Lima's too ( like all the models that are 30+years ).

Lily Aldridge work with VS = No HC work, no covers, it's almost the same for every Angels... Behati's HC work ? Same as Lily. ( and I really love Behati ). It seems that the more attention you got, the less HC work you get. The problem with Miranda is that she became a celebrity more than a model, and it's the same for Behati...

That's true Josephine ! :) That's why Miranda left VS, to spend more time with her Flynny and to do some different things
