Comments about Leo from Naomi Watts

Watts on film: The actress will be seen in the Leonardo DiCaprio film J. Edgar (out Nov. 9). "He's a fascinating character played by a brilliant actor," Watts said. "Leo is incredible. It's an incredible story that I didn't know much about, not having grown up with American history."

Leonardo DiCaprio Spends the Weekend With Rumored Girlfriend Alyce Crawford

Leonardo DiCaprio spent the weekend in Sydney hanging with friends and yesterday enjoyed the company of rumored girlfriend, and model, Alyce Crawford. The pair were spotted early in the morning on the balcony of his Australian hotel and later in the day grabbing lunch outside a Sydney beach cafe. Leo's been in Oz for the past two months filming The Great Gatsby with Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, while back in the States his ex Blake Lively is also moving on with a new romance. Blake spent the weekend with Ryan Reynolds in Boston and celebrated his 35th birthday by surprising him on the set of R.I.P.D. with an elaborate balloon bouquet. Leo's time Down Under may be coming to an end as he's expected to return to LA for the Nov. 3 AFI Fest premiere of his historical biopic J. Edgar.

Are they referring to Leo in the new pics we saw, or something we didn't see that he also did yesterday? because that chick in the sets of pics yesterday, did not look like her!

Comments from Peter Bart about J Edgar /Leo's performance

Clint Eastwood, the wily old coot, has long been adept at winning friends in influential places, and knows how to work the press better than anyone. His usual early-screening suspects include such critics as Scott Foundas and Todd McCarthy. Perhaps betraying his lack of awareness of how behind-the-pay-wall Variety is, Peter Bart was one of the hand-picked folks tipped to an advance Carmel Film Festival showing of J. Edgar, which opens the AFI Fest November 3 before hitting theaters November 9:

At a moment when Hollywood is flailing about with tired remakes, Clint Eastwood, one of its more senior filmmakers, seems more determined than ever to stake new ground. His gripping new film

Will Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Bag his First Oscar?

Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing a historical role in the upcoming film "J.Edgar." Will it at last win him an Oscar?

Speculation is already building for the upcoming Oscar season. One of the much talked-about films is Clint Eastwood's entry "J.Edgar," which is based on the life of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

DiCaprio will be filling the shoes of the prime detective. His role in the film has Oscar written all over it. In the film, the detective ages, asserts his authority as an FBI agent, mourns the death of his mother and pursues a covert relationship with his right hand man, Clyde Tolson, played by Armie Hammer.

Thus, the role embodies the protagonist's entire lifetime and gives DiCaprio a lot of scenes to show his power, vulnerability and everything in between.

We all know that playing real-life figures never failed to generate Oscar buzz, such as last year's "The King's Speech." There is much Oscar buzz when the film is about one of the most controversial political figures of his era, a closeted homosexual, and played by one of Hollywood's top actors.

Leonardo DiCaprio will have formidable competition. Other actors who may be vying for the award include George Clooney, Gary Oldman, Jean Dujardin, Michael Fassbender, Michael Shannon, Ryan Gosling, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt.

"J. Edgar" will be released widely Nov. 9.

Watch the trailer below and see DiCaprio's promising performance.

LEONARDO LOVING SYDNEY LADIES

What's a single Hollywood heartthrob like Leonardo DiCaprio to do with any down-time he has in a city such as Sydney?

Apparently it's to entertain Sydney's hottest female models.

DiCaprio is currently single in Sydney, filming Baz Luhrmann's remake of 'The Great Gatsby', alongside Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton.

When Leo first came to Sydney two months ago, he was dating Hollywood hottie Blake Lively. Fast forward to now and the notoriously private actor appears to have moved on to his third model in as many weeks after his split from Blake Lively earlier this month.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Leo was spotted enjoying the warmer weather yesterday in the company of another "exotic-looking" female (see the pictures here). Neighbours also reported seeing her paddle boarding in front of his rented Vaucluse mansion on the weekend paddle-boarding, and later making an appearance on his balcony.

While DiCaprio has already been linked to Sydney models Alyce Crawford, 21, and Kendal Schuler, 20, he appears to show no signs of slowing down. We're currently hearing some underground murmurs of email invitations going out to some of the elite Sydney modelling agencies inviting their beauties to parties that DiCaprio may show up at.

Leo has been splitting his down time in Sydney between his $10,000-a-week rented Vaucluse mansion and his whole-floor suite at The Star since arriving in Sydney two months ago.

Glittering celebrity galaxy at The Star casino relaunch

SYDNEY is overflowing with an unprecedented number of stars at the moment, but the big names that turned out at the official launch of The Star last night snubbed the red carpet and the media to party inside.

Hollywood mega star Leonardo DiCaprio refused to be photographed on the carpet but inside he introduced headline act Stevie Wonder to the 800-strong invited guests privy to the first look of the newly refurbished casino.

The Great Gatsby actor called the Motown musician his "favourite artist of all time" as Wonder took to the piano about 10.30pm.

DiCaprio's co-star Tobey Maguire arrived via a secret entrance wearing a grey hoodie alongside supermodel Elle Macpherson, who hid herself under a large, black fedora.

The pair joined their peers in a sequestered VIP area that included Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, Aussie actor Russell Crowe, his wife Danielle Spencer, Gatsby cast member Joel Edgerton, and a select group of invite-only guests.

Usual suspects like Jennifer Hawkins and her fiance Jake Wall sang The Star's praises on the ruby rug but Confidential was shocked to see the international stars chose to go unnoticed on such a special occasion.

Some 8000 crystal champagne glasses were flown in for the occasion, and four different kinds of French bubble were served at the estimated $300,000 event.

Wonder, who will tonight play a $500-a-ticket gig at the Star's Lyric Theatre, sang for almost an hour.

Obviously a little jet-lagged he told the crowd "Never fly La to Sydney".

Accompanied only by a percussionist and on grand and electric pianos, Wonder mixed in some new songs with some old favourites, such as When I fall in Love and Signed Sealed Delivered.

And the crowd lapped up every word.

I'm starting to wonder, how many openings this casino will have

OMG funny, I found this article right after my comment

Another day, another starry launch

HOW many times can you launch the same venue? As many times as you like if you are a casino and you've spent nearly a billion dollars on a facelift. Last night 800 ''VIPs'' descended on the casino formerly known as Star City for what was billed as the official launch party, just a few weeks after the last launch party, which attracted an equally stellar crowd when the joint was renamed the Star. PS couldn't help but feel the Star had already blown its dough on the previous party, with last night's much grander soiree barely raising a blip on the social radar. Unperturbed, an impressive roll-up of names - including Tobey Maguire, Adrian Grenier, inset, Mel B, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher - braved the rain to see what all the fuss was about. Trotting down the red carpet was a veritable Noah's Ark of celebrities, with Jennifer Hawkins and fiance Jake Wall, Kate Ritchie and Stuart Webb, Wendell Sailor and wife Tara, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Richard Harrison, Damien Leith, Luke Jacobz, and Glenn and Sarah McGrath. But it was the big guns we had come to see, namely the headline act and music legend Stevie Wonder, who was joined by other Hollywood heavy-hitters including Russell Crowe, pictured with wife Danielle Spencer, and, once again, Leonardo DiCaprio. Inside the party stars had their own special enclosures, while models adorned the cavernous marble lobby dressed as sexy lamps. The ''exclusive party'' was held in the lobby of new hotel the Darling. Guests nibbled on fare from the the new Japanese restaurant Sokyo, located in the Darling's lobby.
