  1. Jesy Nelson was born on June 14th, 1991 in Romford in Essex, her parents are John Nelson and Janice White. Jesy has one older sister named Jade and two brothers named Joseph and Jonathan. It was reported that due to bullying, Jesy had to move to different schools several times. She attended secondary school at the Jo Richardson Community School in Dagenham. Jesy was a dedicated drama and music student and so then attended Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College in Hornchurch. Also, Jesy went to Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes theatre school. Jesy auditioned for X Factor with the song "Bust Your Windows" by Jazmine Sullivan in Glasgow in 2011 and received praise from both Tulisa Contostavalos and Louis Walsh, however Gary Barlow wasn't impressed at all saying he just didn't get it and found her vocals to be, in his words, "generic". But Jesy was still able to move forward to Bootcamp where she was unsuccessful as a solo artist. Jesy auditioning in X Factor with the song "Bust Your Windows" by Jazmine Sullivan. She was then put in a four piece band named "Faux Pas" with fellow future Little Mix member Perrie Edwards. Faux Pas were unsuccessful, fortunately though both Jesy and Perrie were asked to form a new four piece band Rhythmix with Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. In the 4th live show they had to change their name. They've chosen "Little Mix " to be their new name. During the X Factor shows, Jesy was the victim of a horrible online bullying campaign against her. Jesy was exposed to nasty comments about her appearance and was visibly upset, but she received huge support not only from Mixers (their fanbase name) but other music fans. Little Mix went on to win the X Factor. Little Mix released their debut single, "Wings" on July 1, 2012, and have since released three albums; DNA, Salute and Get Weird.
  2. Jade Amelia Thirlwall was born on December 26th, 1992 in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom. She was born to a single mother Norma and lived with her brother Karl. At first, she was a student and participated in various singing contests in the area. She is close friends with The X Factor season 6 winner, Joe McElderry, who is also from South Shields. The two used to duet together. Jade began singing at an early age and from the age of 3, until she was 15, she attended Steps Dance & Fitness, South Shields, Tyne & Wear, where her dance instructor was Pam Eglintine. At the age of 9, Jade joined Performers' Stage School, South Shields, Tyne & Wear. When she was 13, in year 9 at St Wilfrid's Community College, secondary school in South Shields. Jade was asked to sing in the school assembly and joined the choir. From the age of 16, Jade performed in pubs and clubs. Jade's mother, Norma, said, "Jade would be doing a gig and she'd invite Joe (McElderry, winner of X Factor 2009) to sing with her. They also appeared at festivals and charity gigs together". Jade auditioned for the show twice before in 2008 and again in 2010. She was sent home both times due to lack of confidence, she then auditioned once again for the 2011 season with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" made famous by 15-year-old Jade in her first audition in 2008 the Beatles. Jade, along side the other girls of what was to be Little Mix did not make it into the bootcamp stage of the television show. The girls were all selected from failed solo auditions and all put into separate groups, being named Faux Pas and Orion (in which Jade was in). Neither of the groups made it past the judges house. However, a last-minute decision was made and two members from both groups were selected and put into a third ensemble, named respectably Rhythmix. A few weeks into competition X-Factor executives attempted to Co Jade at her third audition singing the song I Wanna Hold Your Hand by The Beatles pyright the Rhythmix name, and come to find out that the name was already for copy written. The girls had then decided to change the name of the group to avoid any confusion with a charity that had been step up for helping young people make music. Thus, Little Mix was born. Simon Cowell donated an undisclosed amount to the charity. Jade, alongside the other girls made X-Factor history as weeks went on, becoming the first all-female band to ever make it in the top 6. Little Mix are one of the few X-Factor contestants to never be in the bottom 2. In December of 2011, Little Mix became the first band in the 8-year run to win the competition, which was followed by the release of the winner's single "Cannonball" which hit the #1 position in 3 different countries. Little Mix released their debut single, "Wings" on July 1, 2012, and have since released three albums; DNA, Salute and Get Weird.
  3. Leigh-Anne Pinnock was born on October 4th, 1991 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. She has 2 sisters, Sarah and Sian-Louise. Her parents got divorced in 2009. Before joining Little Mix, she worked as a waitress in Pizza Hut. When she was young, Leigh-Anne and her sister Sarah attended stage school, and at the age of 11, Leigh-Anne attended Sylvia Young Theater School in London for a short while. In 2011 Pinnock went to auditions for eighth series of The X Factor in London. Pinnock passed the auditions as she performed Rihanna's Only Girl (in the World), but failed to make it past bootcamp's first challenge. However, the judges decided to give Pinnock another chance in the Groups category. Pinnock was put in three-member group Orion, alongside Jade Thirlwall. Both groups failed to make it through to the judges' houses. A later decision recalled Pinnock, Thirwall, Edwards and Nelson (both were put in four-member group Faux Pas) to form the four-piece group Rhythmix, sending them through to the judges' houses. They eventually reached the live shows and were mentored by Tulisa Contostavlos. On 28 October 2011, it was announced that the group's new name would be "Little Mix". On 11 December, Little Mix were announced as the winners, the first-ever group to win. Little Mix released their debut single, "Wings" on July 1, 2012, and have since released three albums; DNA, Salute and Get Weird.
  4. Perrie Louise Edwards was born on July 10th, 1993 in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom. Born to mother Debbie Duffie and father Alexander Edwards, she has an older brother, Jonnie. Her parents are both singers. Her dad Alex is in an unsigned band called Alexander’s Palace. Her mum Debbie was a singer. Before entering The X Factor, Perrie was planning to start a performing arts degree. Perrie audutioned for X-Factor in 2011, she sang "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morisette during her first audition in Glasgow and received praise from Kelly Rowland, who described her voice as “Crazy, yo!” Tulisa wasn’t as complimentary about Perrie’s audition saying that she liked her, but wasn’t madly in love with her. Louis didn’t “get” Perrie’s audition at all, prompting Kelly to ask Louis “what didn’t you get?”. She successfully passed to the other round, but failed to make it past bootcamp's first challenge. However, the judges decided to give her another chance, and to be part of the Groups category. They put her in the four-member female band called "Faux Pas" with Jesy Nelson. However, the group failed to make it through to the judges' houses. A later decision saw two members from the group, Nelson and Edwards, being called back to form the four-piece group "Rhythmix", along with Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, this sending them through to the judges' houses. The band decided to change their name, due to difficulties with an organization with the same name, to "Little Mix". On 11 December, Little Mix were announced as the winners, making them the first ever group to win the show. Little Mix released their debut single, "Wings" on July 1, 2012, and have since released three albums; DNA, Salute and Get Weird.
