  1. Englishman defending Wimbledon :cain:

But yes, RG is probable boring cause Nadal always wins, but I like it that way.

 Wimbledon was awesome this year. Yeah I'm probably biased - that's the only slam I've been to. Also the coverage of RG in this country kinda sucks. I've got nothing against Nadal winning RG every year, after all you could easily lay the same accusation at Federer for US Open or Wimby (until this year). Too many long grinding matches on clay, it's just not my favourite surface.

  2. to be honest... im seriously bored!!! hard court is just blehhh for me! i can't wait till RG!

Hard court is miles better than clay. Actually grass is better than both. If I was to rank this year's slams in terms of quality I'd put Wimbledon first (probably just for that men's final), then Aussie Open (probably just for Tsonga's amazing run), then US Open and RG last.

Maybe US Open will go top if Roger can win it!

  3. I heard that a theme of the issue would be models photographed in their places of birth. There's some controversy/allegations brewing over Bar Refaeli's shoot in Israel.

The Ethics of the 'SI' Swimsuit Issue

Did Sports Illustrated cut costs on its annual swimsuit issue with a journalistically shady deal? That's the implication of an item in yesterday's Cindy Adams column -- but the magazine says it's not true.

Adams claims SI got a sweetheart deal from the Israeli tourism bureau, which paid half the airfare to fly a crew of 17 to the Holy Land for a photo shoot with hot sabra Bar Rafaeli. It wouldn't be the first time the Israeli government reached out to an American magazine to promote travel; Maxim featured a "Women of the Israeli Defense Forces" spread in its July issue.

From a purist standpoint, letting a third party pick up part of the tab for a photo shoot is definitely a no-no. In its ethics guidelines, the Society of Professional Journalist warns members to "refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment...if they compromise journalistic integrity."

  4. I was having trouble posting anything before. My Bellazon was stuck and now I check later and somehow I've posted the same thing three times. :idk:

I had that Vogue cover as well but couldn't post it. Luckily Vini's saved me the trouble. Mmm, lovely Jeisa.

Jeisa's thread has reached the milestone of 100 pages! Woohoo!

  5.

i'll buy the Vogue next week if you guys wait i'll scan :)

she looks cute smiling for KL, why she doesnt do this more times ? :/

 Thanks for the offer. On photoshoots Jeisa must do what the photographer tells her. If he/she says to smile then she will smile! Perhaps most photographers prefer her dark/moody look but smiley Jeisa makes a nice change. :)

  8. Here is a video of Jeisa speaking in portuguese (http://video.globo.com/Videos/Player/Notic...NERVOSA,00.html). The only one I know. The Jeisa part begins at 0:39. And you can hear a native portuguese speaker pronounces her full name also. She said that in order to be in the modelling industry, you must be very thin. A medical doctor calculates her corporal mass index. It is 15,32 while anything below 18,5 is said to be subnutrition. But I think she exagerates her height. She does not look to be 1,77 meter for 48 kilograms like she said. That lowers her corporal mass index. The video was aired on april 24 2005. She has gained weight since then. Anyhow, its a great video of Jeisa.

 Thanks for posting this. I don't think I'd seen Jeisa speak Portuguese before. I seriously hope her BMI is above 15.32 now - that's terribly low. You are right though, she does look like she's gained some weight since then.

And look! Another 6 posts and this thread reaches a landmark!

  9. Someone on tfs pointed this out:

    Veja Rio online

My Portuguese isn't very good so my best guess...

Supermodel Jeísa Chiminazzo from Rio Grande do Sul spent the first Sunday of the month shooting a catalogue for a Rio brand.

"It's a shame it is always so quick," she lamented, while still feeling (in her back) the weight of her previous trip to the city. "When I returned from Fashion Rio to my home in New York, I went to pick up my suitcase (30 kilos) and pinched my sciatic nerve."

And the rumors of supposed anorexia?

"I found out I was lactose intolerant so stopped eating milk and milk products. Consequently I got thin," she recounts between tasty forkfuls of the lunch provided by the production.

  10. Yeah that really hurt Djokovic.

The only bad thing was that the men's semis weren't very good because Gasquet and Djokovic were tired and injured. But to be honest the final totally made up for that - it was a classic!

Plus there was the first British player in 20 years to win a Wimbledon title: Jamie Murray partnering Jelena Jankovic (who was outstanding in the final btw).

  11. As a big Fedex fan I was really rooting for him to get the five in a row and equal Borg's record. But next year I think I'd be quite happy if Roger won Roland Garros and Rafa won Wimbledon.

  12. :hell yea!: :woot: :hell yea!: :woot: :hell yea!:

    Roger!!!

:hell yea!: :woot: :hell yea!: :woot: :hell yea!:

What an amazing final! It was so close. Roger has equalled Bjorn Borg's record. And it's nice to see Bjorn come down from the Royal Box to congratulate Fed straight after the match.

Nadal was brilliant as well. He has improved on grass so much that it's now clear he can definitely win Wimbledon. In fact he nearly won today. It only came down to a few vital points. Superb.
