"Roosmarijn de Kok explains how to cut through the BS & find a wellness routine that works for you"
QuoteTake a look at Roosmarijn de Kok’s Instagram, and you’ll immediately regret not sticking to your New Year’s Resolution.
A quick browse through Roos’ feed provides a slideshow of wellness: Roos cooking with some herbs that she grew herself in her NYC apartment, Roos perched atop two weightlifting benches performing an intense booty workout, Roos seductively perched in a bubble bath with the caption, “water restores my energy.”
Chances are, you also would like to restore your energy, you just don’t know where to start.
Should you start meditating in your bedroom and pretend you’re alongside Roos at five-star luxury resort Faena? Should you finally do something about your slow to grow hair and nails and scoop up Perfectil, the multivitamin Roos was seen posing with in early February?
Instead of continuing to stalk Roos’s ‘gram, we decided to talk to the Victoria’s Secret model herself.
Roosmarijn chatted with us about how she found her wellness routine and some of her favorite workouts for her body and mind. She even walked us through her beauty routine—including all the products.
Keep reading to get one step closer to making 2019 your healthiest year ever!
Your Instagram bio says, “make your mind the most beautiful thing about you,” what does that mean to you?
Being beautiful on the outside will fade at some point, but you have your thoughts, your heart, mind, and soul forever.
What are some practices and products you incorporate into your life/routine to support this mantra?
Meditating, reflecting, and learning about yourself. Reading inspiring books, studying Kabbalah, practicing being mindful—but most importantly, surrounding yourself with the right people.
Can walk us through your beauty and wellness routine? What are some things you do daily?
First thing I do is brush my teeth with my Quip toothbrush. After that, I wash my face with a mild cleanser (May Lindstrom Honey Mud Gentle Cleanser), followed by a toner (Lotion p50 v “1970” Toner). Depending on how dry my skin feels, I will use a couple of drops of my personally made face oil. Then, I will drink 16oz of fresh celery juice to rehydrate myself. It has a lot of electrolytes and on top of that is very detoxifying—great for your digestion and clear skin! I always make sure I take a lot of supplements as well because I think they are a great addition to get more nutrients in your body. I take Perfectil for my nails. They used to always break, but now they are finally growing out stronger than ever! I also take vitamin D3 in the winter months, as we don’t get enough sun usually. Also a mix of adaptogens that includes amla, rhodiola, ashwagandha, shatavari, and reishi.
Wellness is such a hot topic right now, and it can be hard to cut through the noise and figure out what parts of it can help you and your routine, can you talk to us about how you settled into the wellness routine you have now?
I would say just be patient whenever you try new things because nothing will change you overnight. Also don’t forget the fact that everyone is different, so one thing that works for one person may not work for another.
How long have you had this routine?
I love to grow and evolve, so I’m always looking for new things to add or change, but I think it’s important to have a core foundation. I would say for the last three years I have been on this journey, as I started discovering and learning about wellness, for it being my responsibility to take care of my body—especially [due to me] being a model.
Can you tell us what you were doing differently before?
I wasn’t conscious about what I would put in my body or how I would take care of it, including my mind.
Did you ever go through phases where you tried something that other people seemed to like, but that really didn’t work for you?
Heavy weight training! Even though I love how you feel when you’re done, it made me so hungry I wouldn’t be able to ever stop eating. On top of that, it would make me bulky, which I can’t be because of my job as a model.
A little birdie told us you rotate between around 7 different types of exercise, can you tell us about how you got into this?
Different exercises are great for different things. I haven’t found something yet that works great for a full body/mind workout unfortunately. I love my trainers Joe Holder, Kirk Myers, and Rhys Athayde because no one can ever push me like they do. After a while they become your family and it’s just so nice to have that connection. I love yoga for my mind, pilates/SLT for abs, P.volve is great to get a good booty workout. I like Megan Roup‘s classes because it’s just a really fun way to workout with dance cardio. Last but not least, there is this place called Inscape I love to go to for meditation and soundbaths.
Your body is your brand, so it makes sense you dedicate the time and effort necessary to keep yourself at peak performance. Can you give any tips for the average reader who may not have as much time and money to dedicate to fitness?
Of course, there are simple little steps that can make such a difference! Drink a lot of water, make sure you make at least 10,000 steps a day, and definitely sleep enough! Sleep is so important. I currently sleep on a smart mattress from this company called Eight Sleep and it tracks your sleeping all night so you can see how [to] get the best rest your body needs.
You’re from Holland, how do the Dutch approach wellness differently from Americans?
Its definitely not as big as it is in America, but dutch people are pretty healthy in general. We basically bike everywhere. I used to bike two hours a day to go to my high school, so that was my exercise. Our diet was also pretty balanced with veggies, potatoes, and meat or chicken or fish. I also think portion control has a lot to do with it. I would say an American portion size is double from a dutch portion size.
Have you incorporated some things from Holland into your wellness routine?
I still love to bike. I have this amazing bike in NYC from a dutch company called Van Moof. I bike everywhere unless it’s too cold in the winter. Besides [it being] the fastest way to get around, it also just makes me really happy and reminds me of home.

cool she's shooting Valentine's Day? Good for her, I hope VS continues to use her like this. I'd rather see her than Alexina get used this much. I mean good for Alexina, but I just do not like that girl's face or body. Roos though...I like everything about her!
yeah she has actually done other campaign shoots for VS in the past as well, not just white wall stuff. I see that some of those haven't been posted in this thread though, so let me see if I can still find the images!
@Pith_Possum thanks for posting those, she looks absolutely amazing! This might be one of my favorite shoots of hers, love the vibe.

She looks so much like my cousin that it freaks me out.
She is cute and seems to be liked by VS. WOW they have used her so much. I'm looking through the thread and damn VS likes her.
Why wasn't she in the VSFS this year? WAsn't she there two years ago in Shanghai? I had no idea who she was until recently, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I really expected with the amount of VS work she has done, that she would've been at the show this year and in mainline. 4
Could anyone explain the VSFS and her to me? I would very much appreciate it because I don't understand why she wouldn't be at the VSFS this past year.
I hope she is at the VSFS next year at least.
She did walk the VSFS in Shanghai, in mainline. We don't know exactly why she didn't make it last year, but I do have some theories.
Firstly, when she walked the show two years ago, she basically changed her diet and worked out like crazy for half a year to get more in shape for the auditions. This took a loooot of her time and effort; This year, she didn't go as crazy so she might have not been in the same shape as she was last year.
Secondly, her walk on the show was not received that well by fans, a lot of people thought she was a bit "meh". Roos is less outgoing and chill than a lot of other VS girls, so her vibe was not as enthousiastic maybe. There is a chance that the VS team thought the same thing.
Thirdly, VS is always trying new stuff. For example, their cast has become much more racially diverse in recent years. Perhaps Roos just did not fit in the image that the team was looking for for the show.
One thing I DO know however is that Roos was also really dissapointed she did not get it, must have been pretty devastating for her. Anyway, there is always it next year!
(BTW, Roosmarijn changed her @ on instagram from @roosmarijndekok to @roos , I am not sure why. I guess it's easier for people that are not Dutch to remember haha)

Roosmarijn did an interview at Fox 5 NY to promote her collab with True Facet for Charity Water.
She also did an interview at the True Facet website.
QuoteRoosmarijn de Kok’s modeling career began at, of all places, a dinner party. A model friend ofRoosmarijn (or Roos, pronounced rose, to her family and friends) snapped a photo of her and sent it off to a modeling agent in New York City. The agent quickly asked Roos to come to New York and sign with the agency.
Victoria's Secret model Roosmarijin de Kok, RoosWhat was supposed to be an adventurous gap year between high school and majoring in economics and business at university, grew into a serious modeling career for the young Roos. Since moving to New York, Roos’s beautiful Dutch face has graced campaigns for international fashion houses like Balmain and Tom Ford. But Roos’s career really took off when she was invited to walk in the exclusive Victoria’s Secret Runway Show, a kind of It-girls club for the modeling elite.
Aside from her wildly successful modeling career, Roos is a female entrepreneur. She recently founded Roos Unlimited, an impressive investment portfolio of smaller brands, like Thursday Boot Co. and Van Leeuwen, that Roos supports and actively collaborates with. Through Roos Unlimited, Roos is also highly involved with the non-profit charity: water.
Charity: water’s mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Roos recently partnered with the charitable organization by sponsoring a birthday well, asking friends and family to donate to charity: water to fund a drinking well in lieu of gifts.
Inspired by her passion and entrepreneurial spirit, TrueFacet connected with Roos to support her and charity: water’s cause. Together, TrueFacet and Roos have created a special collection of jewelry and watches, hand-picked by Roos, with 100% of TrueFacet’s proceeds benefiting charity: water. We sit down with Roos to discuss her work with charity: water and why the cause inspired her to contribute—plus her favorite pieces from her specially curated collection!
1. How did you connect with charity: water?
For me it’s really important when I donate or work closely with a charity to know they are 100% transparent with their expenses and that 100% of the money that is donated will go directly to the cause for which it was raised. When I was researching charities, charity: water kept reappearing as one of the best run non-profits and when I asked my friends, one actually knew the founder and connected me!
2. What about their cause resonated with you?
Besides the fact that 100% of the donated money actually goes to building a clean water well, I personally think clean drinking water is such an underrated luxury. People can go without food for 10 days but clean drinking water is such a necessity and it drives me insane to think so many in this world still don’t have access to it. I couldn’t imagine having to walk eight hours a day to get access to water.
3. What are your favorite jewelry or watch pieces within this Roosmarijn de Kok x charity: water curated collection?
I love the Love Collection from Cartier— can’t go wrong with that. The rest of the pieces I picked are mostly rose gold (“roos” gold) and very classic pieces that you can wear for all occasions.
4. What pieces of jewelry do you never leave the house without?
Gold hoop earrings!
5. What is at the top of your jewelry or watch wish-list?
I was planning on getting myself a rose gold Patek Philippe watch but I think it’s more important to donate money right now to my charity campaign. I’m thinking of buying myself something smaller for my birthday like a rose gold Love Bracelet from Cartier, so probably those two! I’m still young so I’m sure I will have plenty of opportunities in my life to collect the best pieces of jewelry that I love the most.
Shop this curated collection of watch and jewelry finds, thoughtfully selected by Roos, and TrueFacet will donate 100% of its proceeds* to Roos’s charity: water birthday well.

In honor of Singles day (Nov 11 in China), Roos decided to post some of her fans' breakup stories on IG Stories and then talked about her own worst breakup. Here is hers:
As promised on Singles Day, if you shared your stories on getting dumped I would share mine so...
EVERYBODY PLAYS THE FOOL, HOW I GOT DUMPED
Getting dumped is a hard pill for anyone to swallow. My story is not a unique one but it's mine and it's difficult for me to write and share w all of you. The truth is I'm actually petrified of looking bad or pathetic in public but fuck it, let's dive deep. I rather be authentic with you and let you judge me however you want then for me to tell you some sugar coated version of how I was dumped.
I was in an absolutely terrible relationship for almost 2 years with a guy who was physically and mentally abusive that I didn't know how to get out of. It was a really bad situation but I also acknowledge my part in the breakdown of the relationship (we have since made peace w eachother). There was this guy who was a. "friend" of my boyfriend and over a 6 month period he conveniently put in the effort to become my friend. He was always there for me and he became my ear listen to me, my shoulder to cry on and my trusted confidant. He was there for me and to also tell me what a terrible person my boyfriend was and how he was cheating on me (good friend right?). He convinced me my life was in danger if I stayed in the relationship and helped me leave my boyfriend and he conveniently had me move right in with him to his beautiful apartment on the upper east side.
Looking back now I can see all the ways he manipulated me but as they say love is blind and I went full blown Stevie Wonder. I believed he was my knight in shining armor (but he turned out to be Lord Farquad from Shrek), this nice caring successful man who was rescuing me from my future of misery and doom w my previous boyfriend. I really wanted to believe in him and he gave me hope for a little while. Guess what, he was even more of a horrible person then I ever could've imagined. He always made promises to me that he never had any intentions of keeping, he liked about everything all the time, showed off constantly, bragged non stop and was one of those guys who did everything to show off in front of people including his charitable endeavors. The worst was yet to come, he told me he wanted to marry me and have babies with me. Until one day he dumped me, kicked me out of our apartment that I spent 6 months decorating.
He made me move into a hotel and justified by telling me how much money I saved on rent when I lived with him in his apartment that he owned for free. To rub salt into the wound he then demanded I return every single gifts that he gave me asap of which my most cherished was a rose gold watch that he gifted me because he said he loved me. All of my friends said it was crazy but I gave him back every single gift including my favorite watch. What's the most shocking about this getting dumped story is I didn't do anything wrong to this person, absolutely zero. I ended up finding out the truth after a few months of him leading me on w more lies. It turns out he dumped me so he could get back together with his ex. I learned so many lessons in my 22 years of life from this experience. #1 money doesn't buy happiness #2 never abandon your own home and always be able to stand on your own two feet #3 don't jump from one relationship into another #4 never compromise yourself, everything we could ever need is already within us
Thanks to all of you who shared your stories about getting dumped with me. You gave me the courage to share my own, it's been therapeutic for me and I still believe in true love. Also don't feel bad for me as I have learned a lot of valuable lessons ....Just wait for my book to come out
I hope I transcribed it correctly! Anyone know who this is about? The only two exes or hers I know about are Tanz Watson and Ryan Silverstein before that, so I think this might be about Tanz...
