  1. I just wonder if they will let their numbers drop down to like 4ish angels for a while and shop girls around, or if they will immediately sign another large bunch. I'm not super impressed with most of the girls they are trying out--they work really well as catalog regulars but I just don't see them catching on with the general public. But hey, Ed's been doing this for a long time, so he knows best.

  2. It seems to me that she's kind of done with HF work, or at least she's slowly distancing herself from it. I miss her in editorials and shows as well, but after working in HF for so many years I can't blame her for wanting less but maybe more remunerative commercial jobs (I guess). Do you know how much VS pays for catalog jobs?

Re: how much VS pays: it's suuuuper hard to say because it probably depends on what the pictures will be used for (website vs. catalog vs. special campaign, etc...you see where I'm going here). It also depends on the model being hired since their agency will negotiate their individual rate. But I would guess (and this is a guess, I could be totally off here so grain of salt) that VS would pay Jac a few thousand per shoot, though I don't know how much of that she would actually take home after taxes and commissions. But in general catalog work and brand ambassador jobs are where models will make much of their salary; editorials and HF pay barely anything/get away with doing so because it is "exposure."

  3. I hope to see her in some HF campaigns as well, but at this point it is her choice. Like Claudia said, she doesn't need to do it and it is well known that commercial work is where all the $$$ is (especially for brands like VS). These days many commercial models will have a season when they go back to the runway for a few blue chip shows and get a campaign out of it, just to keep their profile up. I'm sure we'll see her do that in the next couple years. But fashion week is a game for either young/new girls trying to get a big break or very high-profile models; there's not a lot of inbetween tbh.

  4. Exclusive! Gigi Hadid Is the New Face of Maybelline

Just before New Year’s Day, Gigi Hadid received an extraordinary gift. While on a routine visit to her agency, IMG, the up-and-coming model’s agent handed her a present to unwrap. Inside the box was a contract finalizing Hadid’s role as the newest face of Maybelline.

Recalling the moment over the phone to Vogue yesterday, her excitement was palpable. After all, signing with the iconic American beauty house represents a career milestone for the 19-year-old Californian—but it also brings her full circle. “In middle school, I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup,” she explains, “I secretly bought Maybelline’s SuperStay 24HR concealer at CVS. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.” So cool, in fact, that she still keeps a bottle in her bag to this day.

Starting this morning, she’ll have access to more than just concealer: Hadid, who kicked off her career as a Guess Kids model at age two, has soaked up a lifetime of beauty advice on set—and she’s ready to put it to good use with the company’s vibrant arsenal of high-impact eye shadows and lipsticks, as well as its skin-warming bronzers and lash-lengthening mascaras. In an effort to shake up her routine every few months, she says, “I pay attention to how every makeup artist does everything.” For example, after noticing how a wash of nude eye shadow made her eyes appear more open and their green color pop, she recently incorporated the technique into her own repertoire, mimicking the shape (“more round than winged”) and the brushes used to get the look. “You have to try different things to see what you like best.”

Luckily for Hadid, the fun is just beginning: The model—who has already walked the Chanel runway, starred in the Pirelli Calendar, and played a pivotal role in the re-creation of one memorable Vogue cover—will debut her first Maybelline ad this October. Not that you’ll have to wait that long to see her in action. We predict she will be sharing every beauty adventure on Instagram with her 1.5 million followers—meaning your feed is about to get that much more colorful.

  5. I feel like it was maybe too late to have been an S/S campaign? I'm guessing a March cover. And I wonder if it was the same thing over 2 days...seems like she shot something big on Dec. 17th as well, the day after she posted the pic with Carlyne and Pat.

  6. F I N A L L Y!!!! I wanted to post the picture yesterday but I was looking for a high res…UK Vogue should be embarrassed that it took that long. She AND Joan AND several other models of color should've had SOLO covers YEARS ago, but ESPECIALLY Jourdan since she is from the UK. I'm still fuming that they gave Georgia May Jagger a cover before Jourdan. There's a very sad collage of the 2014 UK Vogue covers to underscore the point and it's pitiful to look at; every model is styled the same and a few of them used for the 50-11th time. But I'm so happy for Jourdan!

  7. Guys, I have a question a little bit outside of topic. There are some photos of Vlada Roslyakova wearing Caroline Winberg's outfit for the 2008 VSFS. What is the reason she didn't walk? I mean she was already at fittings and everything. Was it ever discussed or anyone know?

Vlada for VS, really?  :ninja: I can't even imagine…I never knew she did a fitting for them. I would imagine they had second thoughts about using her for the show.
