    As to which character Leo will play 

     

    On the movie forums once the rumors began that Leo was attached most thought he would be police agent Brock Vond who is in pursuit of Zoyd & his daughter 

     

    But with Sean’s casting , I think Leo will be Zoyd Wheeler who has teenage daughter Prairie from when he was married to Frenesi  Gates ( Regina Hall ) . And to complicate matters  Brock will

    , also, have a relationship with Frenesi

    in this tweet he is mentioning the 'age' of the vehicles being used I feel to indicate the setting of film must not  be a period piece 

     

    However, at same time from having read a detailed description of Vineland , 'helicopters' are part of a crucial scene in Vineland

    Oops I realize  I saw Master as well.  As to Magnolia viewing what sticks in my memory are the frogs falling from the sky :p .  I guess at this point only  favorite film of his was There Will Be Blood.  As to Licorice , personally, I couldn't see what all the raves last year were about . 

     

    As long time fans we've heard that Leo has wanted to work with PTA ever since he had to pass on Boogie, so I'm sure he is happy about that he now will have :)

    The films of PTA that I've seen are :  Boogie Nights (Mark Wahlberg did when Leo opted to do Titanic )   There Will Be Blood & Phantom Thread ( his two films with DDL) ,  Magnolia (Tom Cruise ) ,  Inherent Vice (Joaquin Phoenix ) , and  his recent Licorice Pizza  in which the rumor was that Leo was going to do the cameo role that Brad Cooper did in the film, but Leo's scheduling didn't allow him to do it. 

     

    Also on the movie forums the rumor was that Joaquin was going to be the male costar opposite Leo in the film , but , if accurate, I guess Joaquin's schedule didn't allow him to :idk:

    Maybe instead of playing the 'bad guy' Brock Vond  who represents the evil /oppressive gov't   ,  Leo will be playing Zoyd and Regina is his long lost wife Frenesi  

     

    And , it is Sean Penn who plays Brock Vond 

     

    Like I said above when they actually start filming , if we see lots of extras that are dressed like hippies , then we know it is Vineland  

     

    Whatever it is , I hope we get pix from the filming :)

    As to 'contemporary, it could be it is the general storyline of Vineland, but PTA has changed the  'era' , and it is set in 2024 :idk:

    To be honest,  I've read very detailed description of the  Vineland plot , and , personally,  it is not a storyline that appeals to me 

     

    Those who believe the new movie is based on Vineland , also, think Leo will play Brock Vond ,  a federal agent who was involved in a  relationship at one point with Prarie's mother  Frenesi

     

    Personally, I'm  HOPING PTA's new film is NOT based on Vineland :p

    Yes, from KOTFM being a strong player on the longlist , it didn't do well at all on the final ballots.  As without director there is little chance it will take film, and Downey seems a lock to take supporting , so , like recent Critics Choice, it appears KOTFM will not win anything 

     

    And, I agree, no Lilly was quite surprising.  

     

    Next up the Oscar nominations on Tuesday
