Who's that Larsson lad playing for Sweden? I wouldn't mind him for us...
  2. Would you rate Temple below the others? For me, it's a slightly less fulfilling entry into the series than Raiders or Crusade, largely because I enjoy the focus on Indy as an intellectual and they seem to play it down a bit. It does boast some of Spielberg's best ever set pieces, though.
  3. @SympathysSilhouette Overall, I thought S2 was an over-complicated mess. As much as the showrunners were put in a difficult position with the curtailment of S1 and Ruby Rose's departure, there were ways they could have resolved it that would have made far more sense. Obviously Ryan Wilder took up the mantle, there were parts of her character that worked and I'd consider Javicia Leslie a better actress than Ruby Rose, but this was still very much the Kate Kane show throughout. The only plotline Ryan had some genuine investment in was the Crows and that went down like a bit of a lead balloon. With all that said, there's a chance we may see a stronger third season, since we presumably get Ryan without the baggage of Kate and really the whole Kane family, we get Ivy, and the writers have a real opportunity to do something fresher.

Some boy, that Cavendish. No doubt it'll get obscured by the football but Cav's win today is undoubtedly one of the great sporting stories of all time. As amazing a comeback as we're ever likely to see.

Yeah, that really was a stage where disaster seemed to be around every turn, and I must say it can be a little hard to enjoy a race when half of the field are cycling wounded. That being said, the Tour's first week has always been a little crazy. Flat stages, a full roster, demanding speeds with no room for error on packed roads.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man who had done precisely sod all for the rest of the tournament. The game was poor, Southgate's starting line-up was a travesty, but a win is a win.

I suppose one can't entirely blame France for thinking that they could beat Switzerland by playing to the level of their prodigious talents for ten minutes, then going back to sleep. They did win the last World Cup by doing exactly that. Deschamps could now be at liberty to become the latest manager to turn down the Spurs job.

Relatively rare you get a knockout tie as crackers as that one, an instant classic for sure. Spain are banging them in and will be a handful for anyone they face, although today may have alerted future opponents to the fact that their central defensive pairing perhaps isn't the most mobile. Croatia may be out, but hats off to them for their fighting spirit.

Delighted for Van Der Poel yesterday. The pure cycling theatre of helping himself to the bonus seconds, then taking the stage win and his first ever yellow jersey could have brought a tear to a glass eye.

The quality wasn't as high as you'd expect, from both sides really, but it was an entertaining game for the neutral, especially when it started getting a bit spicy towards the end. Portugal laid quite the siege in the second half but wasted good chances, either by delaying the final ball or trying to shoot from impossible angles. In fairness to them, they must have had the toughest run possible for defending champions. Belgium rode their luck a little at times and will need to be better against Italy. Hopefully Hazard and De Bruyne will be good to go.

Workmanlike from the Czechs, don't think we're going to see anything scintillating from them but they have a bit of craft and even in the first half were starting to get some joy down the right hand side. De Boer looked like he didn't have a clue what to do after the red card, was slightly surprising how little the Dutch had to offer late on.

Relief for Italia there, it looked like they were going to be in for a frustrating evening for quite some time but found something extra against Austria, who were the better side for long periods. Mancini and Vialli celebrating together will never not be a joyful sight.

Was expecting a tight encounter from Denmark-Wales but it ended up being one of the most one-sided games of the entire tournament, and one tactical switch by the Danish manager was seemingly all it took to sway it for them. Apart from the first twenty minutes, Bale would probably have made more of an impact had he brought his golf clubs on.

Well done to Alaphilippe for winning an opening stage that bordered on apocalyptic at times. What a vicious acceleration from 2km out. Sad for Sütterlin obviously, and a pretty brutal reintroduction for Chris Froome. It must be unclear now whether he'll be able to continue.

Possibly based on their classy demolition of Russia, the bookies seem to have Denmark as odds-on favourites against Wales, but I see it as a contest of two closely-matched teams that could go either way. As much as plenty of people (myself included) were quick to rubbish Turkey as "dark horses" who flopped, they looked pretty strong pre-tournament and came unstuck in a competitive group. I wouldn't be surprised if both Wales and Switzerland give a good account of themselves in their next games.

You can tell things are getting a bit desperate for Harry Kane when journalists resort to inventing words like "pre-assist" so they can find something to give him credit for. Promises to be a tall order given England's apparent inability to keep up the intensity for more than half an hour at a time, but I think the only way we can win on Tuesday is if we can get to half time with a two-goal lead. Anything less and I could see Germany finding a way to turn it around as we get progressively leggier and run out of ideas.

Sweden is an extremely pragmatic team, but with some major talents in Isak, Quaison and Kulusevski. Not to be underestimated. Sad for Lewandowski as Poland's poor record in recent tournaments continues. Would have to question how they managed to turn a seemingly competitive opening game with Slovakia into such a crushingly daft defeat, especially with how dreadful the Slovakians appeared against Spain today.

That to me felt like an ideal opportunity to give Dominic Calvert-Lewin a little run-out. If he has a stinker, Kane's reinstatement becomes a no-brainer, if not then you've potentially got someone with a bit of form to take into the knockouts. On that evidence though, a game against Portugal, France or Germany could prove a rude awakening for us. Hopefully Southgate at least continues with Grealish and Sako, both were a clear improvement in the first half, created the goal and were involved in every dangerous move.

First goal was mad unlucky but Belgium were the better side, they deserved to win and to be fair, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before they scored again anyway. Really pleased for Denmark as well. While Finland perhaps won't now make it, it's a good story for them to have gotten to the tournament and they have a goal and a win to take home, so a decent outcome all things considered. Very much a side point I know, but isn't the Belgian crest just the most exemplary piece of modernist design? Absolute corker.

Decent stuff again from the Dutch. As much as I'd like to see them go deep into the tournament, they've a relatively leaky defence that I fear will be exposed in the round of 16 or the quarters. North Macedonia have tried to play positive football, scored two goals, had a few hit the woodwork and a couple disallowed for offside. They can go home with heads held high.

Obviously wish Billy Gilmour well but can't help wondering how the table tennis tournament panned out. Robertson's experience at the top level, McGinn's steel and energy, Gilmour's composure and fearless approach. It's tough to pick a winner.

Italy still looking good, no denying that plenty of teams have started the group stages like bombs before coming unstuck in the knockouts, but so far they've been an entertaining watch. Apart from Belgium, Wales should fancy their chances against any of their potential next opponents from Group B. Are Turkey still dark horses?
