  2. Jewel Staite Jewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada) is a Canadian actress, best known for her role in Firefly and the subsequent film Serenity. Personal Life The youngest of seven children, Staite modeled as a child and acted since age six. She attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre. Staite has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities. She married Matt Anderson (not related to the professional baseball player) on April 25, 2003. Career Staite is perhaps best known for her role as Kaylee Frye in the short-lived science fiction/Western television series Firefly and its subsequent 2005 film, Serenity. She also wrote a chapter in the book Finding Serenity, called "Kaylee Speaks: Jewel Staite On Firefly". Coincidentally, she played Heidi Gotts, the antagonist in the TV series Wonderfalls, which like Firefly was also prematurely canceled by FOX. Sarah Chalke Sarah Cassandra Chalke (born August 27, 1976 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian television and movie actress best known for playing Dr. Elliot Reid on the NBC sitcom Scrubs and Becky Conner Healy on ABC's Roseanne. Biography Chalke was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, the middle of the three daughters of Doug and Angie Chalke. Her mother is from Rostock, Germany, and her entire family moved to Canada in 1952. Chalke maintains contact with her German relatives. According to a Scrubs commentary track, she used to attend the German school in her hometown twice a week. She speaks German and French fluently. She is currently engaged to Jamie Afifi. Career Chalke's acting career began at the age of 8 when she began appearing in musical theatre productions. At 16, she became a reporter on the Canadian children's show KidZone. Her "big break" came in 1993 when she took over the role of Becky (Conner) Healy on Roseanne from Lecy Goranson; she also made a non-Becky cameo appearance in the Roseanne episode "Halloween: The Final Chapter" (#178, originally aired October 31, 1995). She returned briefly to Canada where she starred in the CBC television comedy Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998-1999). In 2001, she was cast as Dr Elliot Reid in the NBC comedy series Scrubs.     Summer Glau Summer Glau (born July 24, 1981 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American dancer and actress, best known for her role as River Tam in the short-lived science fiction series Firefly and follow-up movie Serenity. Career Glau was classically trained as a ballerina and also studied tango and flamenco. A professional dancer since age 12, Glau relocated to Los Angeles in 2002. She appeared in a few television commercials, but Glau's first television credit was a guest role as a ballerina on the 2002 episode "Waiting in the Wings" (episode 3x13) of the television series Angel. There she caught the eye of producer Joss Whedon, who later cast her in Firefly as River Tam. Glau appears on the episode "Love Conquers Al" (1x06) of the TV series Cold Case. She has a small role in the film Sleepover, in which she plays a high school senior named Shelly. Summer appeared in the CSI episode "What's Eating Gilbert Grissom?", and the second season of The Unit; portraying Crystal Burns, the girlfriend of Jeremy Erhart (Daniel Wisler). Glau plays Tess Doerner, a paranoid schizophrenic returnee in the second season premiere of The 4400 (episode "Wake-Up Call"), and the season three episodes "The Ballad of Kevin and Tess", "Terrible Swift Sword" and "Fifty-Fifty". Her character has the power to compel people to do whatever task she wants. Glau stars in the science fiction film, Mammoth, which was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, and Bucharest, Romania.
