^ Ok, I know how it sounds like but I am not sure how to explain it. I will try and have Taben correct me :Nicole:

Yves is like Yi-eves

Saint is like soont (kinda like font...I think :ninja: )

Laurent is the tough one. It is like La-rhaunt. "-rhaunt" sounds like haunt

I apologize to all French speakers for butchering your language :(

I can pronounce them perfectly. :p

but then you can speak french perfectly so...

So how do you pronounce Vuitton and Chanel? :p

I pronouce it Vi-t-on (it has a quick "on," right???) and Shan-nelle (Shan like "Sean" or "Shaun" and nelle like the magazine except w/ a "n" in front)

it's kinda hard to explain because french sounds are more... "dry", i mean the sounds are very neat and defined whereas in english they kinda "resound" in the mouth... we also have some "nasal" sounds (though less strong than in portuguese) that you don't have so if you don't know what french sounds like i guess it's hard to have an idea...
But i think you pronounce it wrong  i'll try to record some French designer names and post the audio file

How about Yves Saint Laurent? I've heard heaps of different pronunciations. So I don't exactly know the right one.

Nicola Trunfio is right i guess but i'll try to record it as well

I apologize to all French speakers for butchering your language :(

Hahahaha i personally find foreign accents really lovely and endearing so don't worry :hehe:

if you mean "live" as in "i live in france" and not as in "it's broadcasted live" then you are right  Russian ppl are always so good at french

^ haha this one made me laugh real hard because there's no way a normal French person would pronounce it like that, unless they're a stuck up aristocrat with a stick up their arse :|

I for one do not pronounce "zh" like in "zhenya", in French we pronounce it "z" like in "zen" so it's not really working

I guess your method works (or not) depending on the mother tongue of the person using it :p everybody should learn phonetics, it'd be easier to explain :|

I feel the need to teach all the readers the correct pronunciation of designer’s names. It’s not just for the sake of being polite, it also makes you seem smarter and a lot more sophisticated in higher social circles or when you are talking to others in the fashion industry.
